Our Monday regular is rolled out once again, as we scour the Premier League treatment rooms to assess the players who picked up injuries over the weekend action.

Arsenal
Jack Wilshere was forced off with a knee problem in the weekend draw with Hull. Post-match, though, Arsene Wenger allayed fears over the midfielder’s fitness by insisting he’ll be available to play in the midweek Champions League encounter against Benfica.

Aston Villa
Nathan Baker deputised for the injured Philippe Senderos away to Everton but was forced off after sustaining a “pretty bad” hamstring injury, Paul Lambert has confirmed. The Villa boss has since revealed he is optimistic that Senderos will return for next Monday’s trip to QPR.

Crystal Palace
The club’s official match report confirmed midfielder James McArthur was withdrawn just before the hour-mark after picking up a muscle injury in the narrow home loss to Chelsea.

Hull
Nikica Jelavic is set for scans later today after sustaining a twisted knee during the warm-up prior to the Tigers’ draw at Arsenal. Elsewhere, Steve Bruce has concerns at the back – the Hull boss revealed keeper Steve Harper was forced off with a damaged muscle in his arm, whilst Michael Dawson also had to be replaced at the Emirates after picking up a late injury. Speaking to the club’s official website, Bruce explained:

“Jelavic has unfortunately twisted his knee and he will have a scan on Monday. Dawson has an ankle problem and Harper looks as if he has ruptured his bicep, which is a horrible injury. We are probably going to have to recall Mark Oxley from his loan spell at Hibernian.”

Liverpool
Daniel Sturridge was missing yet again as the Reds squeezed past QPR at Loftus Road yesterday. After the 3-2 win, Brendan Rodgers rolled out an update on the injured striker, who has now failed to feature since Gameweek 3 for the Merseysiders:

“’He was returning from his thigh injury and medically everything was fine with that. Then, on his very first morning, he was jogging around the pitch in the warm-up – there was no action, no striking of a ball. He was jogging around the field and then in the actual warm-up, he felt his calf a little tight. The scan shows that there is a little bit of damage in his calf. So the medical team tell me it’s probably between two to four weeks, which is a huge disappointment for us. But we have enough players now.”

Manchester City
Frank Lampard was stretchered off within half an hour of City’s home win over Spurs with a muscle injury. Manuel Pellegrini confirmed after the match that the midfielder will miss tomorrow’s Champions League trip to CSKA Moscow. Pablo Zabaleta was omitted from the squad entirely but this was purely down to rest – he’s travelled to Russia and is expected to start tomorrow.

Newcastle
Paul Dummett was withdrawn after 72 minutes of the weekend win over Leicester after suffering a recurrence of the hamstring problem which forced him out of international duties. Mike Williamson missed out altogether due to injury, the Magpies have confirmed. Cheick Tiote was forced out of the Magpies’ starting XI after picking up a knock during the pre-match warm-up.

QPR
Rob Green missed yesterday’s clash with Liverpool due to illness, allowing Alex McCarthy his first start of the season. Elsewhere at the back, Nedum Onouha was replaced at the break against the Reds after picking up a hamstring injury. Sandro was also replaced midway through the second period after picking up an injury, according to the club’s official Twitter stream.

Stoke
Reports suggest Victor Moses was subbed off midway through the second  half of yesterday’s win over Swansea due to injury. Phil Bardsley picked up a knock late on but, with the home side having made all three substitutions, stayed on the field.

Swansea
Defender Ashley Richards missed the trip to Stoke due to injury.

West Ham
James Tomkins was sidelined for the weekend win at Burnley after picking up a thigh problem, whilst Mauro Zarate also missed the match due to a minor knee problem.

For those of us who have Di Maria, but not as captain/vice. What do we hope he'll give us tonight?

I hope he at least scores or gets an assist, would always love some more points, but guessing a lot of people have him as captain/vice, so hoping he doesn't go all Tadic on us..

I want double figures, preferably more than Aguero got. 😉

7 max but I'm hoping for a 3, anything above 7 will do significant ranking damage

    5. Wouter

I hope he gets 200 points. I didn't get him in only to hope he doesn't score a lot of points because others may have captained him.

      1. Sleep Talk
        12 years, 10 days ago

But then you'd suddenly be 200 points behind all those people who have him captain?

I feel captaincy in this game at times is much more important than we'd like it to be..

            It's a gamble

Not sure 2 budget strikers is sustainable long term

Both they and their teams will go through fluctuations in form and you don't want to be constantly having to use 2 transfers

            It can work short term

        1. Davido989
          12 years, 10 days ago

It's a strange one as he's been working had defensively but looks lazy and not bothered when attacking.

          1. Somalion
            12 years, 10 days ago

Agreed on that, but he never really was a prolific open play goal scorer. Should have finished that chance though.

            1. Davido989
              12 years, 10 days ago

I think he's a scorer of great goals as opposed to a prolific goalscorer. Horrendous miss and he's been poor, but defensive worries are more concerning

My front 7 is this atm:

    ADM / Sterling / Siggy / Downing
    Aguero / Costa / Welbeck 1FT, 0 ITB.

What concerns me is the lack of a Tadic or Pelle in there after saturday. Am I being too knee-jerky or should I be trying to get them in? Costa news would help a lot but afraid Mourinho will give away little detail about the extent of the injury and Costa's price will fall while I miss Pelle's price rise. Thoughts?

    1. Kerrazy
      12 years, 10 days ago

not knee jerky, they have awesome fixtures coming so no reason to not get them. Downing's too much of a punt if you ask me. but you don't have anything in the bank tho. try to downgrade some of your def ?

A bit of a waste of a milf IMO.

Delph is key to our team and without him we will struggle against everyone.

Better to wait and see what sort of Tekkers comes back first.

    Everton overload team?

    Forster,
    Baines, Coleman, Ivanovic
    ADM, Fabregas, Sterling, Siggy
    Costa, Pelle, Welbeck

    (Guzan, Boyd, Wilson, Moore)

I actually really like this team, it's like having 7 midfielders and 3 strikers.

Sorry - Sterling = Barkley, hence Everton overload.

Chance of keeping Sterling and getting Barkley for Sigurdsson?

I'm looking at a direct swap Gylfi -> Ross after the weekend.

Is Fab enough Chelsea cover going forward?

    Lloris (4.0)
Bertrand Chambers (PVA Hutton Moore rotated)
    Siggy Fabregas Silva Sterling (Boyd)
    Dzeko Costa Falcao

I was planning to do Dzeko + Boyd > Vardy + Eriksen this week... 3-5-2.

However, the Costa situation has arisen.

I have 0.1m leeway to do Silva + Costa > Eriksen + Kun with a juicy pair of FT's! Then will do Dzeko > Welbeck next week. Sorted?

    Krul // Elliot
    Clyne // Hutton // Moore // PvA // Wisdom
    AdM // Boyd // Fab // Siggy // Sterling
    Costa // Kun // Pelle

    FT = 2
    B = 1.5

    A) PvA > Jagielka & save 1FT
    B) PvA & Sterling > Baines & Tadic
    C) PvA, AdM & Siggy > Baines, Tadic & Eriksen for a hit

    Cheers

That's a perfectly good team imo. Can't see anything that needs changing, although despite Garcia's good fixture I don't think he's a great option

I've had Hazard for every game he's played since he joined the prem over two years ago...I think I may have only missed one when he returned early from injury on a cameo..

I obviously had him for the entire season of my "All the Belgians" team and even throughout my hit a week every week last season...apart from injury.

    Is it a record ?

    1. Heels_Over_Head
      12 years, 10 days ago

      getting there, check with Guiness

I think its a record. Last season, I had Ozil/Oscar in my team for whole season. Frustrating at some time but I love those guys 🙂

      1. Dr Dream
        12 years, 10 days ago

Brill...a lot to be said for it...It all depends if you like watching them...Which reminds me, I really must get Sanchez back soon.

        1. Holmes
          12 years, 10 days ago

Yep... Reason I did Costa to Aguero last week was also same. I like watching Aguero play, he is just classy and more entertaining than Costa... (I am a CFC fan though 😀 )
Problem while picking those players is that no matter what pts they give you, your heart wont let you drop them. So I didn't get Oscar/Ozil this time 😐

          1. Holmes
            12 years, 10 days ago

Yeah...I need to ditch ADM...in a couple of weeks...

              Me
              Hazard Eriksen Tadic Sanchez
              Son
              Cesc Sterling ADM Siggy..

I don't really have any transfer needs this week, so I'm actually considering getting Krul back on my team for Mannone (please don't shoot, I have reasons).

I'll only use him to cover Fosters difficult games until the winter wildcard (GW 12 and 13 in particular), and at the moment Krul (with QPR, hul) offers a tiny bit better fixtures than Mannone (lei, CHE).

2FTs and no injury worries (apart from Costa).

    1. Debauchy
      12 years, 10 days ago

      NO NO NO.

May be wrong but until last gw WC had Bego and Krul - got 1 cleanie - wrong choices .

Now got Foster only ( MCcarthy ) play him every week - no choices , no doubts , no regrets

  29. Stimps
    12 years, 10 days ago

Really want to get Pelle or Tadic in, any suggestions? Or stick

0m in the bank, 1 FT

    Krul (Elliot)
    Alderwerield Baines Widsom (Hutton, Dummet)
    Fab Siggy Sterling DiMaria (Albrighton)
    Aguero Welbeck Costa

    1. Debauchy
      12 years, 10 days ago

      Similar to what Im thinking

Would save and have 2 FTs next

Then Siggy or Sterling to Tadic
