After the best Gameweek tally in living memory, I reserve the right for a bit of a gloat. Having risked the Wildcard back in Gameweek 7, the stars aligned and everything fell into place last weekend, leaving my ScoutCast co-host, grumpy Granville, grabbing at straws and smashing TV sets in frustration.

After last season’s defeat, I revel in my moment of glory but still find time to lock horns with Granville over the great Costa debate. Is Jose playing with our minds? I certainly think so but, as Granville points out, I reckon the Lunar landings were fake. I love a good conspiracy, me.

                    Yea way too expensive for you to bench every week, you should definitely downgrade him to free up some cash if you're benching him for newcastle at home, which is one of the easiest games he's gonna get

      Not sure about prices but that seems to be the speculation. If it's for a hit, can you afford to wait? Might be worth it to hear the presses.

        Thanks. Pieters to a 4.6 (or less) defender is what I'm looking at.
        Not many defences are looking too promising these days.

          Yep. Go large, or go super cheap and use the money elsewhere, look the only real options at the minute. As you've identified, Chambers, while not ideal, does look the best bet in that price range.

        Disagree. The man is on fire right now and with Costa injured he is the only big hitting striker you can rely on. If you don't have Aguero you will be left behind.

            Depends how you use the word essential. I believe the word essential should only be used in the current context over the next 4-6GW's etc. It shouldn't be used in conjunction with the notion of 'season-keeper', because thats just not FPL.

                Indeed, its an entirely different term and it should never be considered the same as essential. I think there is a bit of confusion there.

                I agree with you that the notion of season-keeper is pointless. No one knows what might happen down the track, Some thought Siggy would be a season-keeper but after the Leicester game it would be a good time to sell.

              My first season playing was 2012-2013. I refused to get RvP, and stubbornly stuck to it all year.
              The strange thing was that I did exceptionally well the 2nd half of the year, in large part because most kept captaining RvP while I went for Suarez, Bale or Mata most weeks. Not having RvP was actually beneficial. I doubt that Aguero will suddenly fall off the pace, but if he does, most of us will stick with hom because he is the best striker in the league, leaving the door open to differential choices.

                See it was different back then because it was tough to afford everyone. This time I believe Aguero is easily affordable simply because of the Costa injury. Circumstances can play a part in making one essential.

              Was playing around with bringing in Sanchez and Lukaku for ADM and Costa but played it safe and did the sensible transfer of costa to Welbeck before he drops tonight. Leaves me with 2FT and 4 mil in the bank to get him back if fit next week or go Siggy to hazard for that juicy qpr fixture. Good luck to all those still pondering over their transfers

                  Quick poll, fellow managers....

                  I have Aguero, and he seems the most obvious choice for captain. However, West Ham can be very good at home, and with City travelling back from Russia etc etc etc ?

                  So...as a complete punt, what do folk think of Chadli for captain ? Second highest PPG of all MIDs, top goal scorerer of all MIDs (4) - and at home to awful Newcastle...could Spurs put an attacking display on ?

                  So..Chadli as captain...yes or no ? 🙂

                      No need to be fancy. Aguero can be explosive vs anyone, even the mighty hammers at the Boleyn. Chadli(c) would very much be a punt

                      Nope. The d looks nice and should give you a good score.
                      The problem is that with so many teams having Baines, if he gets a clean sheet and a penalty, you'll probably be looking at a red arrow. Everton play Burnley who score 0.5 goals a game...
