After the best Gameweek tally in living memory, I reserve the right for a bit of a gloat. Having risked the Wildcard back in Gameweek 7, the stars aligned and everything fell into place last weekend, leaving my ScoutCast co-host, grumpy Granville, grabbing at straws and smashing TV sets in frustration.

After last season’s defeat, I revel in my moment of glory but still find time to lock horns with Granville over the great Costa debate. Is Jose playing with our minds? I certainly think so but, as Granville points out, I reckon the Lunar landings were fake. I love a good conspiracy, me.

    Aguero has scored a goal every 58 minutes this season.. wouldn't it be dumb luck to succeed by captaining someone else? I'm considering to captain Baines or Sterling, but I feel that might look like silly alternatives after the weekend..

      I wouldn't say you desperately need help (in fact I hope not as your team is very similar to mine)

      Leave the Costa decision to last minute and if you ship you can have anyone, bar RVP (Lukaku, berahino, sakho, welbeck) although I have a sneaky feeling welbZ might be dropped for he pod this weekend.

      As mentioned above, if you keep Costa, Terry to baines a solid transfer or actually holding for two next week isn't the craziest of options.

      Switching keepers might be wise and Howard/loris both decent shouts, but a keeper transfer always feels like a waste in my eyes.

      In conclusion, no panic, decent side, tweak where you think you most want it.

      I thought he looked decent last week, his passing and link-up play was impressive although I didn't notice much in the way of goal threat (disclaimer: I didn't see all of the game as I can't usually bear watching my captain play, strangely enough).

      However, with so many other options available who are delivering the points. I don't think he is a viable option.

    It surely looks like Balotelli is going to get some bench time and Sterling moved forward and centrally... makes me change my mind about "fatigued" Sterling. I am going to hold on a bit and see what Rogers does next regarding his frustration with Mario.

    Pool look so much more threatening with a combo of Coutinho, Lallana and Sterling in the mix.

      For me it's Berahino. Cheap, penalties, great fixture (plus two more after this week) and in excellent form. I'm very close to getting him in for Costa in fact, unless we hear more from Jose today.

        My concern about Berahino is he doesn't seem much of a bonus magnet. He's scored four goals in three games, but only got two bonus over that period. Granted, there were other scorers in those matches, but when he scored a brace against Burnley he still only got two bonus.

        Sakho on the other hand is the same price and seems to attract far more bonus.

      I would like to get Berahino, but I feel like I keep chasing points in that third striker position (Adebayor, and then Ulloa). So atm I have Ulloa waiting on my bench, with the aim of saving an FT and sorting this position more permanently.

    Should I use my 2nd free transfer to do Silva ---> Eriksen?

    Silva just doesnt shoot enough or my liking and Eriksen has good form and fixtures.

      IMO the best thing to do with captains is pick the "safe" option each week and in the end it is pretty hard for you to lose out. In my case I actually use bookies' odds as a key reference point. Players odds on to score with the bookies are usually very good picks. Aguero was odds on last week anyway!

      Differential captains can give you a huge edge when they work, but over a whole season you'll suffer more from the times they fail and the obvious pick does well.
