With QPR’s home clash against Villa playing out the Gameweek later this evening, we cast an eye over events so far. Arsenal’s in-form wide man, Manuel Pellegrini’s tactical tinkering, Swansea’s over-reliance on a pair of Fantasy assets and Everton’s veteran are all on this lunchtime’s menu.

We need to consider making room for Sanchez…
After a slow start to life in the top-flight, Arsenal’s summer signing now sits just one point off the top of the FPL midfield standings after bagging both goals in the 2-0 win at Sunderland. Sanchez has already risen in price off the back of his weekend display, and with five strikes to his name, has found the net more times than any other midfielder, despite his manager’s cautious approach in the first few Gameweeks. Finally settled as a genuine heavy-hitter, he threatens to take Burnley apart at the Emirates this weekend, and with the schedule smiling kindly in his favour for a number of weeks to follow, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to overlook him.

Pellegrini needs to keep the 4-5-1…
Having swept aside Tottenham with Sergio Aguero as the lone striker in the previous Gameweek, Manuel Pellegrini’s decision to roll out a 4-4-2 proved detrimental to both Man City and the Argentine’s Fantasy owners alike. The champions improved once Edin Dzeko was withdrawn as Stevan Jovetic shifted deeper into midfield areas, and while the Bosnian’s opportunities look to have narrowed after the West Ham defeat, David Silva’s potential could be on the up. Having scored against the Hammers, the little Spaniard will be hoping to reprise the role in “the hole” behind Aguero if Pellegrini looks to tighten things up with a 4-5-1 at home to Man United this Sunday.

Carroll may need the Sakho injury to get a look in…
The big target man may be three weeks away from full fitness but it’s impossible to see just where he fits into Sam Allardyce’s new-look side. With Diafra Sakho racking up the goals and Enner Valencia’s versatility affording the Hammers an option to go two up top or play 4-2-3-1, as evidenced against City, Carroll may have to accept bench-warming duties once he’s back in contention. His only chance, perhaps, is if Sakho is sidelined with the shoulder injury that forced him off against City – we’re eagerly awaiting an updated prognosis, with further investment set to arrive the Senegal international’s way if he’s declared fit for the weekend.

We can trust Mourinho…sometimes…
The mind games continue. Granted, on Friday afternoon Jose Mourinho did insist that Diego Costa only had “a very little” chance of making it for Sunday’s trip to United and there was no real surprise when the striker’s name was absent from the 18-man squad after the hamstring/groin/illness issues. Still, you have to wonder – was Costa’s omission partly down to City’s loss at West Ham, with Jose content to play for a draw in his star striker’s absence?

Stop Bony and Sigurdsson and you stop Swansea…
Garry Monk’s side fired seven shots in the 2-0 home win over Leicester, with six coming from the ever-improving Wilfried Bony as he took his tally to four strikes in three. In midfield, Gylfi Sigurdsson has now assisted seven Swansea goals this term, and with Monk’s decision to drop Nathan Dyer to the bench further restricting the options on offer, the Swans’ options are becoming increasingly limited.

Mane knows his route to goal…
After his strike against Sunderland was overruled by the dubious goals panel, the Saints wide man took his winner at home to Stoke in the clinical and ruthless manner of a genuine goalscorer. Mane’s pace and predatory nature offer Ronald Koeman’s side something different to the more cultured Dusan Tadic, and like his fellow midfielder, he’s wasting no time in announcing himself to Fantasy managers – his runs beyond lone striker Graziano Pelle already look a key weapon to the Saints in the final third.

The Tigers need their defensive trio…
Hull’s return to a 3-5-2 in Gameweek 7 continues to reward Fantasy managers with defensive returns. Despite the fact that both Michael Dawson and Andrew Robertson missed out through injury, in addition to the loss of their first and second-choice keepers, Steve Bruce’s side continue to look far more resilient right now – a goalless draw at Anfield was their second clean sheet in three since shifting away from a four-man backline.

Eto’o is never too old…
The “old man” fired two smartly taken goals at Burnley to show he’s still got something to offer for the Merseysiders. Eto’o has been restricted to just two league starts this term but his impact against the Clarets could well persuade Roberto Martinez to retain his talents in the starting XI – as we saw on Sunday, this curtailed the pitch time of both Ross Barkley and Romelu Lukaku, though, and with Eto’o in such fine form, his manager faces a real dilemma as he looks for a third straight win.

The United teamsheet is getting crowded…
Only a few weeks ago, the injury situation was so severe it seemed Louis van Gaal was operating with an “if you’re fit, you play” policy. Ahead of Sunday’s trip to City, though, the United boss has almost too many options at his disposal. Wayne Rooney is back from suspension, Marouane Fellaini in the reckoning for starts after a goal and assist in the last two, whilst Adnan Januzaj has been given opportunities after a move to 4-2-3-1. With Radamel Falcao expected to be back in the frame and Michael Carrick edging towards a first-team return, Van Gaal’s selection is far from certain for the City trip.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I have held out hope that it was not the case but it has damaged the team.

With that said, the work has been great and they have been very very unlucky in a number of games. Individual errors are hammering them at the moment, when it rains, it pours.

Yeah, it's unfortunate but coupling the fact that Bayern's 2nd string is good enough to challenge for the title as well as Reus going next summer, I don't see Klopp staying.

Klopp wouldn't want to leave BvB in a terrible position though. I think no matter what, he will see out his contract.

    Repost (again)

    Options needed:-

    Current team:-

    Bergo / Gilks

    Clyne, chester, caulker, wisdom, Tomkins

    Hazard, tadic, sterling, siggy, colback

    Costa, Aguero, pelle

    2FT 0.0ITB

Current thinking is caulker to chambers and save the other one, but not opposed to a hit and also not opposed to removing sterling (trying to fit in sanchez)

Don't want to remove Costa/Aguero. Fought hard for the best 2 strikers in the league.

    Ideas?

Can't afford to have Boyd and colback. Else it makes sense.

But they are both too weak to be starting c50% of games. Siggy fine as a fourth mid and with everyone getting rid this week in a few weeks he'll be a nice differential within Palace and Qpr both at home.

Saying all that I guess it goes down to how desperate I am for sanchez.

If very it's probably the best option.

        Thanks for the thought.

Have enough to do Costa>Rooney and Sterling>Hazard, what do people think on this one?

Hazard is just waiting to explode (the stats for him back this, I reckon) and Rooney is back this weekend. Both are playing defences which are far from solid, with both teams going on a decent run of fixtures after the the Int break.

Getting a bit tired of the Costa circus and while I rate Sterling he is far more potent with Sturridge. I'm also looking to get a bit more of a differential in my team while maintaining big hitters.

    Team would then be:

    Bego (Gilks)

    Bertrand Baines Chambers (Hutton, Bartley)

    Hazard Fabregas Tadic Siggy (Boyd)

    Rooney Welbeck Aguero

for those who think ADM is a season keeper, sanchez is definitely not a short term choice too. everyone is thinking of walcott..but he's out for 1 year..he might not get back the old form especially if he loses some of his pace which is his main weapon.

Pelle has the form, but I think the fixture swings it to Welbeck. Burnley have been letting goals in left, right and centre, and will likely be overwhelmed at the Emirates, while Hull have been tight since they returned to three at the back, and are a tough nut to crack at home.

Aguero gets away with it then. Like he did last year. And like Yaya did last season as well. Also, Dawson gets away with the forearm smash on Speroni.

The ref's don't take any action at the time so presumably they didn't see the incidents.. But then they say they did see them so no action can be taken by the FA. This is a pathetic rule. Do the ref’s get a suspension for being useless? Wasn’t it Clattenberg on Saturday at West Brom? He missed the most blatant trip on Zaha as well (also by Dawson I believe).

As for Phil Dowd, don’t even get me started. If you can't consistently even stand in the right place when observing a corner then you are incompetent. Also, whether it was red card or not yesterday, how arrogant does he have to be when he sends a player off? He doesn’t even look at the player, treats them like sh*t on his shoe, yet if a player shows similar disrespect to him and walks away from him after a challenge he gets booked.

    I feel better now 🙂

Personally can't understand sterling>Sanchez is such a strong bandwagon. Sterling has created over twice as many chances as Sanchez in the last 4 games, and has similar stats apart from the fact that Sanchez was gifted two goals.

    http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2014/10/27/scout-notes-gameweek-9-sunday-3/?hc_page=8#hc_comment_8663833

Sanchez fixtures are BUR swa MUN wba SOU sto... Which apart from United and Burnley is a group of the best defensive teams.

In contrast, Sterling has new CHE pal STO lei SUN, which is significantly cheaper on paper. Sterling also presents much higher value given that he is a full 1.5m cheaper.

Sterling is more important to his team right now than Sanchez is - especially as Podolski, Walcott, and Ramsey are options again.

Thus, unless you are bringing in Sanchez as a 1-2GW punt, it makes more sense to stick with Sterling, based on fixtures, and price, and the form difference isn't as big as the knee-jerkers would have us believe.

Decent points except for the penultimate one.

Podolski doesn't play, Walcott is at least a month away from starting games and Ramsey has been playing terribly. Sanchez is our only good player at the moment.

Well he isn't a rotation risk. He is probably the first name to be rested if Liverpool can afford to do so though. (although when was the last time the were comfortable in a game?)

I think the main argument against Sterling is 50% ownership.. so boring.

he can create as many chances possible, Balotelli just won't finish them. Also Liverpool look toothless at the moment.

People want Sanchez , and with most its Sterling or ADM , that needs to make way.

Sterling suffering the absence of Sturridge is so obviously evident , hence eems the best choice to go. - r

Sanchez has 8 goals and 3 assists in his last 10 starts for Arsenal.

Sterling has 2 goals and 2 assists in his last 10 starts for Liverpool.

sanchez is not a punt to start with..back to the preseason days, he is already a favourite despite a price tag of 10.5 no?

and now he starts to be the focal point of the team, getting some form..home burnley.

the fact that fab and ADM performs so well it means most will have to sacrifice sterling if they really want sanchez

    8. Somalion

What we miss here is the overall performance of the teams these players are playing in.

Pool have been poor and Sterling is clearly suffering for that despite being their brightest player by far. Balo destroys attacking moves, Sturridge would help significantly but his injury woes seem to be as bad as ever now.

Arsenal have been better and are not totally reliant on Sanchez, he's just an important cog in the team and as such can play his football with a degree of less pressure as well as having a team support him.

While I will probably go for Walcott instead due to money issues, it will most likely be at the expense of Sterling.
