The season could barely have started brighter for Raheem Sterling after the youngster grabbed two goals and an assist in the opening three Gameweeks for Liverpool. With Daniel Sturridge sidelined ever since, however, Sterling has struggled to replicate his early form, scoring just once and earning a pair of assists in the subsequent six Gameweeks.

Despite a weekend showdown against Newcastle on his agenda, Sterling is the most sold player in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, with over 65,000 owners parting company in order to acquire the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Dusan Tadic and Cesc Fabregas.

In our second members article of the week, we take a look at his displays with and without Sturridge on the park in order to ascertain just why he’s failed to deliver.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

I think he's a great option, fixture couldn't be any better, either. Should start, you would think, but don't know that he's firing on all cylinders again just yet.

Slight panic-transfer of Silva + Pelle to Boyd + Aguero (2FT) as I had the exact money and couldn't risk an Aguero rise. Feels insane transferring out Pelle in such form but it was planned for either this week or next as the risk of going further without Aguero seemed too great (plus I have Tadic).

Hope I haven't made my first major ball's-up of the season...

Chelsea prefer to keep it tight against the big teams. Not surr why you were laughed off for suggesting that. City on the other hand like to dish out spankings to the big boys. Silva and possibly Yaya injured though it could go either way. City dont look great without them. I expect 2-1 to City.

Anyone else looking at the possibility of having di Maria, Hazard and Sanchez?

I think this is the way I'm gonna go for a bit. Its a bit different. Load up in midfield and hope Hazard starts exploding. I've been very patient with him in particular. This strategy is reliant on the premium midfielders outscoring the strikers of Man United, Chelsea and Arsenal. The only one that worries me is Diego Costa. But if Hazard starts delivering like we know he can and has done in previous seasons, you'll be covered somewhat. If not, you can just downgrade Hazard and bring in Costa again if you don't have him. Besides, there is this doubt surrounding Costa and he will need surgery sooner or later.

I really like the look of:

    Sanchez - di Maria - Tadic/Sigurdsson - Hazard

Hazard is dangerous when he cuts in. He doesn't cut in as much when Costa is on the field so as to not encroach the striker's space.

Hazard has been great the last 2 matches for a reason.

I'd agree with that to an extent.

But they are risking Costa each game he plays. If he requires surgery, there is obviously a problem. He could further damage that at any time, in any game.

true, but we don't know the exact ramifications of the injury and only one site has ever reported the surgery, right?

The scouts have pointed out again and again that Hazard suffered big time because Torres , Ba and Eto'o could not finish

They were more static in Hazard's years (Ba just not that good) than they were in their prime. Costa is more mobile IMO.

Torres main attribute was his work ethic . He ran all over the pitch and chased everything down .

I would not describe him as a static forward

yeah but I still think it dwindled in his Chelsea twilight years. anyhow, I don't think you're wrong, I just think that with a forward of Costa's calibre, Mourinho has adjusted his tactics a tad.

Funnily enough i've looked at this over the last couple of days. ADM is a good choice and all ya really need from utd although i'm suspicious of his goal scoring consistency, Sanchez is similar in his role at Arsenal in that he seems the best option from the North London outfit and its not inconcievable that he will score plenty. Hazard is a worry though, his stats aint great tbh and relying on that explosiveness when Cesc keeps pldding away with assistsmakes him a big worry to own. Plus Costa to me seems the most desireable player from the blues as Sinik has said.
