The Gameweek continues with a batch of three o’clock kick-offs, as Fantasy managers switch their sights to venues such as Old Trafford, St Marys and Upton Park.

United are backed for a big home win, with opponents Palace slipping down the table at pace and with skipper Mile Jedinak in the stands. Louis van Gaal’s side are likely to go on the attack given their injuries at the back, with many Fantasy managers anticipating and hoping for big returns from Angel di Maria.

Southampton’s meeting with Leicester looks equally one-sided: the Saints are the form team from back to front in the Premier League, while Leicester, like Palace, are looking to halt an alarming run of form. Graziano Pelle and Dusan Tadic are the headline makers in waiting in this one.

Expectations are also high down in East London, where a vibrant West Ham side take on Paul Lambert’s Villa, with the midlands outfit on a run of six straight defeats. Both Diafra Sakho and Stewart Downing carry increased ownership going into today’s kick-off as Fantasy mangers wake up to the potential on show within the Hammers squad.

Elsewhere, Burnley face Hull in a crucial home encounter for Sean Dyche’s men and, later this evening, champions City make the trip to Loftus Road with Sergio Aguero sporting the armband for so many.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Austin hasn't done anything yet, plus it's an easy switch across of looks a better option.

    Law 13 states that
    Position of free kick
Free kick inside the penalty area

Direct or indirect free kick to the defending team:
all opponents must be at least 9.15 m (10 yds) from the ball
all opponents must remain outside the penalty area until the ball is in play
the ball is in play when it is kicked directly out of the penalty area
a free kick awarded in the goal area may be taken from any point inside that area

Is the ball in play on an indirect free kick:

    A) the moment it's first touched by the kicker
    B) the moment it's received by a teammate

    I think it's A..

I think the double touch is the same as taking a free kick with the ball rolling. Against the rules but not a foul as such

When a team is winning towards the end, they should keep doing that until the final whistle is blown.

JT's Dog got it - the ball needs to leave the penalty area before the 2nd touch - or its a retake.

Thats for a goal kick. This was a free kick

Free kicks in the area too.

if that is the rule, then the ref has it right. No arguments.

Stupid rule though - should be like a foul throw and an indirect free kick to the opposition imo

Used to always think that with goal kicks, defender can just step into box and touch ball if under pressure and deliberately break rules

For free kicks too. See the dog's post above.

but it is not because the first touch is from a dead ball, therefore the ball is in play before the second touch.

hitting a moving ball means that the ball was never dead.

      1. Alan The Llama
        • 16 Years

The ball is "dead" from the moment the ref gives the free kick.

but it needs to be dead (i.e. not moving) for the free kick to be taken is the point i'm making.

In his own way Bobby Zamora's increased minutes has got to have been one of the best moves of the season by any manager. They've gone from a team of also rans to quite scary at times.

I think so mate - I did that transfer for this GW... Austin is a lot cheaper than he should be considering he's on pens etc & is basically QPR's main goal threat... their fixtures are good & they're hitting form...

So relieved to see him finally score 🙂
