In our third members’ article of the week, we turn our attentions to the player Key Performance Indicator (KPI) statistics. We delve into the data once again and, focusing our attentions on the forwards, assess player form over the last four Gameweeks compared to the first seven rounds of fixtures.

For the unfamiliar, these Key Performers Indicator (KPI) tables use a series of key stats to allow our members to track a trend in player performance as a guide to their form. By tracking the frequency of certain key statistics, such as minutes per chance, and comparing them over two separate periods of time, we can ascertain patterns of improvement or decline in these areas. For those unfamiliar, we’ve rolled out a preview movie which shows just how to get the best out of the KPI tables.

          Mine is 129. Got 30 bench points the week i got 81...

          I don't think its necessarily a bad thing if you're bench is scoring, as long as they're not outscoring your starters.

          basically you pick players at the start you think will be high up the overall standings (salary cap based on past performance) then trade them out for players you think will win individual stages (sprinters or time trialists) for the flat stages, before trading back overall contendors for the mountain stages. overall leader gets points for finishing a stage and there is a bonus stage(you get to pick your own) where all your riders get double points

          its very addictive once you get into it

              Have top 20 finishes in both Tour De France and NRL fantasy, first season actually following through with EPL fantasy (i normally make a team then forgot it after 2-3 weeks) and im up to 1400 overall

        nfl not so much
        most standard leagues each position only gets points for 1 or two categories

        baseball is insane, never really gotten into it because you have to change lineups every single day

        But I think it's relative. So shot every 20 minutes beforehand and every 50 minutes now would be a relative decrease of 150%.

          you would have though but finally figured it out and WTF, 20 before and 50 after in this system would actually give you and 85.7% decrease go figure.

          For some reason the calculation is (Ending value - Beginning value) / ((Ending value + beginning value)/2)

          I.e the difference / average of the two values.

          No idea why you would do that much simpler way to do it.

    Ok. Without wanting to be a bore. I'm putting this out there again.

    Gnu cottoned on to it first and it tickled my interest and now I'm pretty convinced.

    Rickardinho and the Fantasy Freak are both experienced FPL players and/ or FFS posters who have deleted their previous FPL history, created a new FPL account for this season and have also created new FFS monikers. Probably to gain HoF recognition, but who knows.

    I've called them up on it earlier tonight, but neither responded. Maybe they will now.

    And I'll leave it at that, because in the grand scheme of things it's a very trivial thing but because we're all here so much, I thought I'd let you know.

      I actually did respond, though I only saw your post an hour late!

      As I said earlier, this is my first FPL season, or 2nd technically - though the first was in 2007 and i lost interest after 2Gw's (only did it as my flatmates all did but didn't care)... no idea how i did that season. Never cared much for fantasy games until this year tbh, as i've got more free time now.

      I've been a Liverpool fan for years, and watched ALOT of football last season due to them doing well, so im quite familiar with all the current players. I've also got an engineering background, so tend to use stats and numbers to back up any decisions i make on here, and you can't go far wrong with an approach like that. Ponying up £15 also helped too, as it makes finding stats and comparing players very easy.

        Why is it such a big deal though? Can't someone be good at this game the first time around? I've made my fair share of mistakes too, including my GW1-2 team which was terrible before i was able to use stats to get me out of that mess

            It's not a big deal in the grand scheme of things and each to his own. For me, being on this site for 6 years now I enjoy the characters on this site and have got to know a good number pretty well and of course there are a few who never fail to wind me up but that's the nature of the beast.
            Occasionally a character appears who appears to be a 'guru' of FF, usually on the back of an excellant season and mysteriously disappears again (no names). Fair enough, but if that someone puts themselves out there constantly as a figure of knowledge then a little credability and transparency wouldn't go a miss.
            But, each to their own as I said before, it's a public site after all and that works both ways.
            Personally, I prefer advice, when I ask, from somebody I know or at least respect their history of fantasy gaming.

              This is an excellent point and sums up accurately wha I tend to think aswell. I don't overly care what your rank is but if you go bout spouting things like you're the best thing that happened to FPL since Baines, then you've gotta back it up.

              Agree with this. I don't mind people questioning my credibility at all, because afterall this is my first season so I have little experience of FPL.

              I do offer a lot of advice, but I don't profess to know everything, and most if not all of what I suggest is backed up by statistics or other valid reasoning. At least thats what I try to do!

        It also helped alot to google things like "FPL strategy" and read a few blogs or analytical discussions from last season that provide hugely useful tips to anyone who hasn't played before. I think i read through about 20-25 sites and blogs in a weekend leading up to GW1!

        One of the tips was "research, research, research!"... and its generally true I'd say. The more informed you are about form, fixtures, stats, manager quotes, etc the better. I even prowled the team forums for various clubs in preseason to see what players were performing and what fans thought the lineups would be, but that is less pertinent after a couple of GW's.

                  Don't worry, it was a valid question. TFF and I have quite alot of discussions on here and give out a lot of advice, but people should take it for what it is and not assume that we're both some sort of guru's based on how many posts we make!

      Though to be fair to you I've played various forms of fantasy football on and off since 1996, most of it is transferable

      The joy of online is that you can choose to start again and reinvent your self. Harder to do in real life which is why despite emigrating half way round I am still a super intelligent, highly sporty guy with an enormous cock.

          Yeah, healthy position to be in I suppose so can't complain.

          Thinking De Gea to Krul as need the cash and can't justify losing Bertrand or Pelle ahead of a winnable fixture at Aston Villa. For the record I think Villa will score, and maybe win, but can't bank on it.

              haha yeah. I figure you'll want to play 2-2-2 most GW's with so many fwd's in your team, so Ramsey-Cabella seems fairly nailed-on, but with only Mertesacker and the rotation risk/poor form that is Vertonghen/Spurs you might like Liverpool's most attacking defender instead to fill that hole in defense, and he has cpl STO lei SUN next, and awesome fixtures until February. I'm only trading him because he's kind of expendable atm since I now have Coleman-Clyne, and 4 Liverpool players, but I think it makes alot of sense for both of us.

              Liverpool have also started to tighten up defensively somewhat... conceding only 5 in 5 games... 0, 1, 1, 1, 2 vs Hull, Real, Newcastle, Swansea, and Chelsea, which isn't the worst.

                  You've got Vertonghen vs hul EVE che next 3... wouldn't you rather have Moreno vs cpl STO lei in that stretch? Diame would be on your bench anyways I would imagine given his immediate fixtures (TOT mun eve WBA che)... plus you'd avoid the Vert-Diame clash. Win-win. πŸ˜‰

                  Plus, I'm fairly keen to make trades during the international break but hardly active in the draft league trade-wise while my mind is on FPL, so i'd prefer to get it done sooner rather than later.       Costa+Chadli+Siggy is waaaay lot better. But tbh I wouldn't do it for -8. Berahino has done nothing wrong and still on PKs, ADM despite not scoring has good fixtures coming up, and Fab is Fab.

      I seriously think Costa can wait, although most people here think he's worth to bring in for a hit.

    I've nothing to hide. My 3rd season in FPL & 2nd season with the assistance of FFS. Doing below average compared to FFSers. Last season Ramsey cost me Top 1k. This season looks like Alexis will do that job. I don't like Arsenal very much. 😐

      Just get Sanchez. I felt the same way when Aguero got 4 and I didn't have him, (and didn't have Sanchez until two days ago either), but just get him and you'll be fine. I didn't have ADM in the early going either fwiw. Cant have them all

      Your best position is to save transfer and evaluate next week. Though Rooney is playing in midfield he has a history of scoring vs Arsenal and you already have a standout captain option in Kun. So a definite save for me.
