634x258 Fixtures

There’s reason for optimism at the Liberty Stadium as we assess the strength of schedule over the next four to six Gameweeks this evening. The fixture list also smiles kindly on Jose Mourinho and Louis van Gaal, whilst Sam Allardyce will be confident of bouncing back from Saturday’s loss at Goodison.

Swansea

β€œfrisking

Out the other side of three testing encounters against Everton, Arsenal and Man City, Garry Monk’s side now set off on a run of fixtures that is sure to tempt many managers into investing in their assets across the park. Having lost just once in front of their own fans this season, the Swans now have consecutive home meetings with Crystal Palace and QPR up next, with an inconsistent Spurs and Villa also visiting the Liberty in the next six.

Despite earning more clean sheets (five) than any other side bar Southampton this campaign, the Swans’ defensive assets are still flying relatively under the radar. Former Arsenal shot-stopper Lukas Fabianski is up to second in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) goalkeeper standings, and is nailed on between the sticks, though his allure is slightly diminished by full-back Neil Taylor’s availability. The Welshman is on offer for 4.7 to Fabianski’s 5.1, and also offers attacking potential down the flank – those eyeing up the Swans defence need to be aware that Taylor, along with Ashley Williams, is just one booking away from a ban, though.

Further forward, the 6.7-priced Gylfi Sigurdsson remains the most obvious route into the attack, though a couple of other differential options also offer appeal. Jefferson Montero’s recent displays have earned the winger a starting berth since Gameweek 9, and with two assists notched in that time, the Ecuadorian looks an intriguing alternative to Sigurdsson with an ownership of just 0.3%. After a sluggish start to the campaign, Wilfried Bony has fired in five goals in his last six appearances, and carrying that form into the Welsh outfit’s upcoming fixtures, the forward looks set to prosper further.

Chelsea

β€œfrisking

After an explosive start to the season, Jose Mourinho’s side have only scored more than twice in one of the last eight Gameweeks but a remarkable level of consistency has ensured that they sit atop the Premier League. The Blues currently boast a number of the most popular assets in FPL, and with the schedule remaining very kind, it’s hard to argue against investing heavily – Chelsea face three bottom-half sides in their next six (sun, HUL, sto) and also welcome fellow Londoners Spurs and West Ham to Stamford Bridge across that schedule.

In defence, Branislav Ivanovic remains the stand-out pick thanks to his attacking potential, though Cesar Azpilicueta, at 1.2 cheaper than the Serb, offers managers a cut-price alternative. In midfield, it’s a case of take your pick from the trio of Eden Hazard, Cesc Fabregas and Oscar, though the former’s current upsurge in goal threat sees him lead in our Watchlist right now – he’s now produced three sets of double-figures in his last six. In attack, Diego Costa’s ownership is back on the up after scoring in each of their last two, and could reaffirm his β€˜essential’ status should he take advantage of the upcoming fixture list – a failure to earn bonus in three of the last four matches he has found the net is denting his captaincy credentials, though.

West Ham

β€œfrisking

A wave of injuries may have cost the Hammers against Everton but Sam Allardyce will be confident that his side can regain momentum once his star players return. West Ham entertain Swansea and Leicester at Upton Park in the next five, and with promising trips to West Brom and Sunderland sandwiched in between, a return to winning ways looks likely.

Much depends on the injury situation, though. Five key players – Alex Song, Cheick Kouyate, Enner Valencia, Stewart Downing and Diafra Sakho – all missed out at Goodison and their potential return to fitness will determine our confidence.

Downing and Sakho, at 6.0 and 5.9 apiece, have been the jewels in the Hammers’ Fantasy crown thus far and the duo will leap back onto our radars if they can recover for the weekend, though Allardyce clearly now has the strength in depth to avoid taking chances with their availability. At the back, a clean sheet in Gameweek 11 brought the Hammers’ defensive assets to our attention and the 5.4-valued Aaron Cresswell looks the leading candidate for investment, having also earned two assists in his last five displays.

Man United

β€œfrisking

A well fought, if slightly fortunate, win over Arsenal on Sunday has rocketed Louis Van Gaal’s men into the top four, and the upcoming schedule could well see them cement theirΒ place in the Champions League spots. Back-to-back Old Trafford encounters against Hull and Stoke now await the Red Devils, with a further two home fixtures (LIV, NEW) also featuring in their next six. The trip to Southampton will undoubtedly prove tricky, though the later visit of Aston Villa should hold little fear, and we could now be about to see United pick up some real momentum heading into the New Year.

Still plagued by injuries and rotation, United’s defence offers no real guaranteed starters right now, though David De Gea’s performances between the sticks are proving a source of points, and at 5.4, the Spaniard looks the best route into their backline for the moment. In midfield, with Juan Mata still out in the cold, Angel Di Maria looks the only viable option. Available for 10.0, the former Real Madrid talisman may be struggling to live up to his price tag right now, but his three sets of double-figure hauls between Gameweeks 4-7 should not be forgotten, and fielded further forward against the Gunners last weekend, he certainly has the platform to shine once again. Wayne Rooney has re-entered our Watchlist this week thanks to his winning goal at the Emirates and recent international displays, and looks to be amidst a streak of form that could harbour plenty of returns for those looking for an alternative heavy-hitter to Costa or Sergio Aguero.

Also Consider…

Aston Villa
A battling draw against Southampton last night, in which Paul Lambert’s side registered just their sixth goal of the season, finally marks the end of a horrendous run of fixtures for the Midlanders. Aside from a Gameweek 17 clash with United, it’s now pretty much clear sailing for Villa right through until February, with particularly appealing encounters against Burnley, Crystal Palace and QPR in the next three. With a number of injuries currently afflicting their rearguard, cut-price defender Alan Hutton is the stand-out choice and now has the chance to deliver some real value, whilst, further forward, Gabby Agbonlahor will be looking to kick on after notching his third goal of the season against the Saints, though the similarly priced Andreas Weimann (at 5.3 to 5.2) also presents himself to managers as a differential forward asset. Christian Benteke returns from suspension in Gameweek 14 and may yet to have a say in our Fantasy seasons.

QPR
Still wedged at the basement, Harry Redknapp’s outfit will be eyeing up Loftus Road clashes with Leicester, Burnley and West Brom as must-win matches if they to avoid falling too far behind before Christmas arrives. Two clean sheets for the season is hardly an enticing total, though both of those shut-outs did come against bottom-half sides at home, and the 3.9-priced Yun Suk-Young offers managers a risk-free option for our backlines. However, there’s no doubt that forward Charlie Austin is the star asset for the R’s right now, with four goals in his last four outings cementing a lofty spot in our Watchlist – at 5.9, and with ownership of still just 5.3%, Austin is sure to be at the centre of the Hoops’ attacking play throughout their impending schedule.

Liverpool
With criticism raining down from all sides, and talisman Daniel Sturridge still weeks away from another injury comeback attempt, the Reds certainly have their work cut out in convincing managers to invest right now. Nonetheless, the next three (STO, lei, SUN) will offer Brendan Rodgers hope aplenty that he can put an end to their three-match losing streak soon enough. Raheem Sterling’s ownership is currently in free-fall, but the England international still looks to have the most potential within Liverpool’s attack, though the 6.9-valued Rickie Lambert may have finally cemented a starting berth after his weekend goal – it looks like now or never for the forward to rediscover the form that brought him 13 goals and 11 assists for Southampton last season.

Burnley
After ten matches without a victory, it’s now two wins in two for the Clarets, who host back-to-back home fixtures against Aston Villa and Newcastle before travelling to QPR for a potential relegation scrap. Kieran Trippier delivered his first attacking returns of the season in Gameweek 11, and with four clean sheets also accrued so far this campaign, the full-back is offering decent value for a 4.8 price tag. George Boyd’s guaranteed minutes continue to validate investment as a fifth midfielder, whilst the 5.7-valued Danny Ings’ brace against Stoke last time around has seen the striker enter our Watchlist – clearly, his finishing looks key for Sean Dyche’s side if they are to maintain their recent form.

Ok-so-Just after my 18th birthday I had an amazing lucky gambling win and won a serious serious serious serious amount of money. I then started gambling, going to casinos and playing online blackjack compulsively, at first I won even more but gradually I started losing, I managed to call up my bank after a while and say please put my money into a step bond that cannot be cancelled so i get good interest and so it'll stop me having access to huge funds to gamble. This worked for 6 months, I tried to call up when I had gambling urges and go into branch to convince them to release the funds to me but they said no every time with no negotiation as they had to. Then I moved city, and found some women in a branch who was incredibly sweet, and when I had a gambling urge I convinced her I needed the money released to invest in some amazing project, and she basically lied on my behalf to the bank, telling them i needed it to pay 'funeral costs'-the only legal way the money could be released was in the event of death or tragedy and she said i should make up that there'd been a funeral. Well tonight I just lost my last money, I know gambling's stupid and I honestly don't think I ever will again it's just hard to explain the urges I get. Do I have a legal case against the bank because the women should never have let me release the funds and she actually helped me fabricate the lie to have it released, she was so sweet I wouldn't want to see her sacked and the last thing I want is a big drawn out legal case so if that's the case I guess I"ll just accept it was my fault I lost it and move on but although I was probably charming and persuasive in getting the women to release it ultimately she shouldn't have done it for me and she did and i did tell the bank when i signed up i didn't want it released no matter what i said because i was a compulsive gambler. Sorry for long speech I just wanna see what you guys think? Cheers

I don't think the right thing to do here is to blame the bank/lady. This is your own issue to deal with, essentially your addiction led you to manipulate this lady in order to get your funds. You have gambled them away, you have been punished and there is no need to punish her or the bank as the only real outcome I could see is the bank not accepting fault but placing the blame on her and her losing her job. What she did wasn't right but she didn't necessarily know your addiction issues.

What you need is psychiatric help and therapy, you are a compulsive gambler and you really need help. Getting that lady sacked won't help, it'll just make you feel worse and it won't bring the money back. Get a therapist and sort this out. Best of luck, I hope it works out in time.

It was your fault. Through and through.

You can't just live your life thinking there is someway around things. You had an insurance policy in your head that you could sue the bank when they released the funds. You could never win the case anyway.

Stop being a douche and tossing all your money down the drain. She was probably in the wrong, but you'll come across like a right mug trying to take her to court. Just cut your losses, move on and don't bloody gamble any more.

Take up a hobby or sport instead, or just go and blow your money on booze, drugs and hookers. It would certainly be more fun.

On the positive note. You won a ton of cash and you blew it. You are no worse off. Quit the gambling now accept you will never have that again and you can quit even. A lot of people end up heavily in debt from gambling. The house always wins

Hi, To Answer these points, I agree 100% it is my fault, I am the one who clicked the button, my personal situation is not too bad as you have pointed out as I am only 18, my parents are fairly well off and as you pointed out I haven't actually lost anything net just blown a lucky win. I would feel awful getting the women into trouble, and maybe at the back of my mind I did always have an insurance policy but I didn't honestly think about this and being able to get my money of the bank till a friend suggested to me the lady was grossly incompetent. I would only try to get the money back if the case could be quick and without much hassle, if it were too difficult I would just leave it. The weird thing is I wouldn't actually say i'm particularly addicted (I know that sounds ridiculous) but 99% of the time I don't think about gambling, just happens occasionally i see a match, or odds on a team and I become beyond convinced that they will win, so rush to put everything I have on it. I'll be fine in the long term I really think I've learnt my lesson just thinking of what I should do short-term. I guess I should call a lawyer?

          1) A bank will not simply hand over money to you. There is no easy buck here, if you really believe you are owed your money back (you're not in my opinion) then prepare for a lengthy legal stand off because the bank will simply point to the fact that you lied to get gambling money out. I'd think very long and hard before initiating this. Also, that sweet lady will certainly lose her job.

          2) You gambled away a lot of money which you could have saved to build up good investments or savings for the future and even when that money was locked away from you you fabricated stories and took advantage of a well meaning employee to get your way. That my friend is classic addictive behaviour. Save the money on hiring a lawyer and hire a therapist to nip this in the bud early. Otherwise when you are older and earning a living, whenever that urge strikes you will lose more and more money.

Sadly I'm deadly serious, I won a 748/1 bet 8 days after my 18th birthday betting £500 of the £3,000 my dad gave me to me on it. I thought i was a genius, it won when Real Madrid won in the last minute to win the champions league, the last bit of a 5 part bet including Sevilla winning the Europa League, Doncaster being relegated from the championship, Man City winning the premier league and Rotherham being promoted from League 1. If any of you remember, many of the outcomes happened late on, I believed it was my destiny to win, I genuinely thought I was an unstoppable genius. I guess I'm not. I do feel awful, she was so sweet and kind and really thought she was helping me but ultimately she did violate her contract and cost me (I know I cost myself but take my point) a significant amount of money. Aside from the moral argument, do I not have a legal responsibility to take action?

Are you saying you gambled away £374000? And you don't think you have a problem?

Legally I would wager the bank has a clause that states if you lie about your circumstances or otherwise falsify information to get funds that you are legally liable for said actions and the bank does not owe you squat. But I could be wrong.

Would the bank not pay up discretely to avoid embarrassment about their violation of their own documents, would they really wish to get enrolled in a long legal dispute. I'm not saying I'm definitely doing anything, but ultimately that lady actually helped me fabricate stories, she was the one who called the bank manager to get the cancellatoin of the bond done, she was the one who told me about the funeral clause, she was the one who got the money moved into my current account. however charming and persuasive I was, without her there was absolutely no way I would've gotten near that bond

Yes, she was at fault absolutely so it would be her that is liable, not necessarily the bank.

Furthermore, you're not talking about a few pounds here, this is a very large sum of money and the bank won't just release it that easily for the sake of avoiding negative publicity.

You stand to ruin a lady's career (remember, while she did wrong you had convinced her of an amazing project you were working on, not that you were gambling). What will the money do? Go on more bets until you can try and sue someone else for your own mistakes again? It is your choice of course but the way I see it is you lied to gain the funds with the help of a well meaning employee, she'll get sacked and the bank will probably have a get out clause (they may not, I'm no expert). This lady might really need that job, you clearly don't need the money. Think long and hard is all I'll say, if money is the most important thing to you (or availability of money to waste on gambling) then fine but I feel desperately sorry for you.

Oh dear. I'm going to bed.

One lesson to learn, try and be honest. Folks on here by and large are good with their time and advice, be it a small amount of money or a large one someone would have chimed in. No need to lie to get replies, doesn't win you any friends in the long run.

Sorry i don't use this forum a lot just was annoyed at my loss but figured no one would care, i hoped the bank might pay me back the £200 quickly no hassle no one fired but i guess not and it's a stupid amount of money to lose £200 but i figured no one would care without talking in terms of £10's of thousands or something. Sorry again and thanks for advice you're right i'm sure.

      OK, here goes . . .

      (1) You don't live in the United States. In the US, your special brand of blame shifting could -- possibly -- fly in our twisted legal system. The only way it would fly, though, would be if the bank had actual notice that you are a gambling addict. If you could prove that they knew -- or had reason to know -- that you are a degenerate gambler, then you could possibly make an argument. But, hey, you lied to everyone, so you really wouldn't have a claim. . . .

      (2) I agree with my esteemed law partner, Somalion. His advice is wise and just. More money will only buy you more problems and the underlying cancer will go untreated. You are young enough to absorb the loss and, hopefully, you will learn that you are pre-disposed to gambling addiction. If you are going to spend any money at all, get treatment for the "cancer". If you do it now, it may be the best "investment" you ever make. No judgment here, but you have a pre-disposition to self-destructive tendencies and control issues regarding your urges. Now you know. Get help with that and you will never have to worry again about losing money.

Again, no judgment here. We all have our weaknesses. You are very lucky to see this issue at such an early age. Learn from it and eveything will be okay.

Yes but with 10 mins to go it was pretty hopeless as was City and so the turnaround creates a lot of natural enthusiasm and excitement. Make no mistake City look toothless in midfield, lacking creativity and pace...not great..

What you mean exactly? Them giving away points for lack of concentration when match is meaningless? Or them losing to City?

                  Both happened 2011/2012.

Or giving away a victory in the end? Happened even at home, against weak Inter side 2010/2011, in knockout rounds. Got themselves knocked out stupidly.

Then yes, they'll outscore them (Ramires is a stream of 0-2 pointers), but by 8 points this week? Not convinced by that, Costa could grab a couple of goals (he's my captain).

Was this a massive confidence boost? You struggled at home against a 10 man team with no motivation and half the bench in use, and only managed to win because of immense defensive errors and one player finishing when ever he touches the ball.

Sure, this rises confidence to Aguero, you will certainly try to get the ball to him all the time in every occasion and hope he gets you through.

Chelsea score 5 and Hazard has 1 assist. How many times does this have to happen to consider it unlucky?

    Heaton

    Baines Bertrand Naylor

    Sanchez Hazard Siggy Downing

    Aguero Rooney Berahino

Downing and Berahino both worries with with injury/crimes against the state. Was thinking of bringing Bony in for a hit anyway. If Downing's fit Clyne looks the likely candidate to go.

                Baines Azpi Clyne/Berty Naylor Hutton

Or I could do the Saints defender to Azpi and let Moore rot. Shouldn't even need a fifth defender with those four.

Agreed, waste of a transfer getting a 5th defender in - but still leaves you short in midfield

To be honest I fancy Azpi ahead of any of the mid priced midfield options. I'm really leaning toward Brady. Don't see anyone else worth having.

They take that a lot more seriously across the pond, do they not?

Worried Irvine may drop him to teach him a lesson though.

And I meant that literally. Not in a bad way. I literally think something might've zapped in my head when I read that post. Malfunction stuff.

Which is exactly how you intended it I reckon. πŸ˜†

So let me get this straight you were with Berahino drinking and driving in America and now Berahino is going to a federal penitentiary and is facing a possible death sentence? Making him a doubt for the Arsenal game

πŸ˜€ Ings is interesting I will admit. One of the reasons I wanted to hold Berahino another week. But alas you ruined that. πŸ˜†

Doubt there'll be much in it TBH. Why I'd like to go Bony and then downgrade to Tekkers long term.
