The Gameweek rolls on with the final pair of Premier League encounters – both presenting fascinating scenarios, fully stocked with Fantasy talent.

The day begins as St Mary’s where Ronald Koeman’s Southampton face their first grilling as applicants for the role of a top four side. It begins with the harshest of tests against champions Manchester City, presenting a lip-smacking battle between the league’s most potent striker and its most robust rearguard.

Sergio Aguero will be the latest of the Gameweek captaincy candidates to test his mettle, against a Saints back four that has conceded just once all season on home turf. That’s just one of the key battles on show, as City desperately look to seize the opportunity to close the gap on leaders Chelsea following the Blues’ stalemate with Sunderland.

Later today, our focus switches to north London where Everton pay visit to White Hart Lane in a match that pairs two sides with top six ambitions. A host of mid-price prospects are on show, with Fantasy managers holding out for an appearance from Leighton Baines and further encouraging displays from the likes of Christian Eriksen, Harry Kane, Romelu Lukaku and Kevin Mirallas.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

We need to buy Schneiderlin. Whatever it takes.

Why would he join a worse team?

You can do better than that.

How many defensive midfielders do you want!?

        Erm, we don't have one?

        1. Wilshere Knowledge

Carrick and Blind. With Fellaini, Herrera, Di Maria and even Rooney to play with them...

          £130m on CM's in 2 years!

          1. Not Irish
            11 years, 11 months ago

Carrick is getting on now and doesn't need to be relied on to do that job consistently anyway. Blind unfortunately doesn't look like very defensive minded to me. The rest you list have nothing to do with needing proper options at holding CM.

January is going to be important re: the southampton defence.
If Schneiderlin goes +/- one of the back 4, I can't see Soton being as tight at the back.
Can't see it happening til the summer though

They absolutely fell apart without him in that 2nd half.

Just gonna keep the armband on Aguero until he gets injured. Could, and should, have had 15-20 points away to Soton. Scary.

Schneiderlin injury changed the game. Would be happy to hold Saints DFs if he only has a niggle - but without him, I fear for them against Arsenal.

    1. AlCapwnUK
      11 years, 11 months ago

      agreed.
thinking the same about Jan transfer window. If someone swoops in for Schneiderlin there are going to be fewer CS to go round.
Clyne and Bertie still offer good attacking return though

I just don't see how any other club can come close to Chelsea or City without major reinforcements in Janaury. Their midfield bosses are so much better than any of the other clubs.
