With a quick turnaround in fixtures, we take time out to assess the Premier League treatment rooms this evening and cast an eye over those players who picked up injuries over Saturday and Sunday’s fixtures.

Arsenal
Arsene Wenger’s injury troubles continue to mount as he lost both his left-backs to problems in the 1-0 win at West Brom. Nacho Monreal picked up an ankle knock before his replacement, Kieran Gibbs, suffered yet another issue. Wenger gave us an update on that pair, post-match, whilst also revealing that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has concerns over a knee injury ahead of the visit of Southampton on Wednesday…

“Gibbs struggled a little bit with an ankle problem and Monreal with a knee problem. Oxlade-Chamberlain also had a knee problem.”

Aston Villa
Paul Lambert’s defensive worries continued at the weekend. With Ron Vlaar, Philippe Senderos and Nathan Baker already sidelined through injury, the Villa boss is sweating on the fitness of Ciaran Clark after the centre-half was forced off during injury time of yesterday’s draw at Burnley.

Crystal Palace
Dwight Gayle was withdrawn just 21 minutes into the weekend draw at Swansea with a leg injury, though other sources also state he’s sustained a back problem. Gayle can be considered a doubt for Tuesday’s home clash with Villa, having started the last two league outings.

Hull City
Robbie Brady was replaced on 75 minutes of the Tigers’ loss at Old Trafford having sustained a knock, according to match reports.

Manchester City
City are sweating on the fitness of skipper Vincent Kompany after the defender suffered a hamstring injury in this afternoon’s win at Southampton. Post-match, Manuel Pellegrini – who also has Eliaquim Mangala suspended for the midweek trip to Sunderland – went on to say:

“We cannot know the situation at the moment. He has a problem with his hamstring. We will see with the doctor how important it is but at this moment, I cannot tell you exactly what he has. We will see.”

Man United
Angel Di Maria is almost certain to miss tomorrow’s home encounter with Stoke after being forced off just 13 minutes into the win over Hull with his own hamstring injury. Wayne Rooney is also nursing a calf complaint ahead of the Potters clash, though Louis van Gaal is a little more optimistic on his captain’s chances of being available:

“Angel shall be out for Stoke, I think. Wayne, I don’t know. He has already told me he wants to play against Stoke, but Rooney always says that. We will know in 48 hours..”

Newcastle United
The Magpies are sweating on the fitness of right-back Daryl Janmaat, who was forced off with a hamstring injury in the 1-0 loss at West Ham. Alan Pardew has also confirmed Rob Elliott will take his place between the sticks “for the next four or five games” due to Tim Krul’s ankle injury.

QPR
The R’s budget left-back Yun Suk-Young was replaced on 51 minutes of the 3-2 win over Leicester after sustaining a knee injury. Bobby Zamora missed out altogether with a slight back injury.

Southampton
Jack Cork was unavailable for today’s home loss to City due to illness, whilst Morgan Schneiderlin was forced off after sustaining a leg injury. After the match, Ronald Koeman rolled out an update on the midfield pair ahead of the midweek trip to Arsenal:

“He [Morgan] had an injury in his upper right leg, we have to wait, maybe we will know tomorrow [Monday] about if he will be okay for Wednesday. Jack I hope will be back, we need the players.”

Stoke City
Mark Hughes also has worries in central midfield ahead of the trip to Old Trafford. Steve Sidwell was withdrawn during the first half of yesterday’s loss at Liverpool with a knee problem, whilst replacement Glenn Whelan was subbed off at the break with a calf complaint. After the match, the Potters boss was pessimistic on both players’ chances of making it in time for the trip to United:

“We’ve got a game on Tuesday and it’s highly unlikely either will be available. Whether it was because he didn’t have an opportunity to warm up prior to coming on I don’t know, but he (Whelan) has pulled his calf unfortunately.”

Tottenham Hotspur
Vlad Chiriches limped out of this afternoon’s home win over Everton and was replaced by Erik Dier midway through the second period. Kyle Naughton is back from suspension for Wednesday’s trip to Stamford Bridge so the Spurs right-back situation is a little cloudy to say the least.

West Brom
The Baggies left-back Sebastien Pocognoli was forced off with a leg problem towards the end of yesterday’s home loss to Arsenal. Alan Irvine rolled out an update after the match:

“Seb has a dead leg, we think. He and Chris Brunt slid in at the same time and it seems he came off worse. All we can do now is assess him and see how he is. Dead legs can be a problem because you never know how quickly they will settle down.”

I think I now understand the strong grudges many members on here have against certain FPL prospects based on past performances in their teams. It seems I have finally found my FPL nemesis and his name is Eriksen 👿

I had him in my team from the start of season. He disappointed early doors, but his decent underlying attacking stats kept him in my side. The odd goal return and my transfer priorities lying elsewhere was enough to see him as my only season keeper come GW11. In between I conspired to bench his haul against Man City and after being subbed off twice in a row at half time against Villa and Stoke my patience finally ran out with him. Like the troll I see him as now, he then rewarded my dumping of him with two of his best points hauls of the season against Hull and my own side Everton ( 🙁 ). I honestly think he could score a hat-trick in the midweek fixture against Chelsea and I still wouldn't want him anywhere near my side now.

Anyone else been burnt by the devilish Dane, or have an equally tortured tale to tell?

Had him at the beginning and dumped after GW3 (thus missing goal against Sunderland). Have him in my draft team from the start so not all bad

That was another one that I got sucked into. Derided those so keen to jump on that bandwagon initially, but found myself jumping on after looking into his stats with Arsenal.

I was against it based on the times I've watched him play footy. The price and the champions league hatty turned me. Ultimate knee-jerkery on my part 🙁

I'm having a frustrating season with the Dane too. I've bought and sold him twice already and think I've only had one haul.
Still he's got nothing on my fpl kryptonite, Rooney. Our hate/hate relationship goes back 7 years in fpl. I can never get it right with him

Sounds like young Erik has been teasing you even more than me so far by the sounds of it.

I'm trying to recall any other annoyances I've had with players in the past due to fantasy football, but I think this one takes the cake for me.

    McCarthy Foster
    Azpi Caulker Chambers Hutton Moore

    Aguero Rooney Austin

You're not in terrible shape. I'd hold.

I personally like Fab but doubling up on Chelsea midfield isn't entirely necessary. Hmmm down one... I think the team is looking good - if you have doubts about chambers maybe downgrade and look to replace mccarthy/moore

I would hold. Out of interest, do you forfeit your WC if unused before Jan? Or do you get 2 to play with in the 2nd half of the season?

You'll need to use your Jan WC in January. If you don't , you'll only have your original WC for the second half of the season.
Cheers. I think Fab id consistent, but Baines is too. I'll find a way to get in after next week.

Very possibly I'd say. Starting is the issue. Martinez has plenty of options in the last third so I'd never be confident he'd play the 90. I'd just want him to get a decent chance to rack up points

Poor defensively. They don't rely on their defence to get them through. Aguero will get them well ahead and not concerned if they concede a goal or two.

Yeah, the four yellows he was on are telling, perhaps he relished the physicality of playing Costa and Bayern Munich, hence his commendable games in those two fixtures. He also looked sound up against Pelle until his sending off.

Costa>>Rooney and then get him back again for hull?? You have enough funds, it seems, to get him back! I'm also pondering on same transfer.

I would save. Its a great team.
Arsenal.are going to struggle with Clyne, as they do with all attacking wing backs. So you can expect attacking returns there.

Not sure yet. BOyd seems nailed on for 2 points so I may take may chances with Clyne but I do expect Arsenal to score. Wonder what effect Schneiderlin out will have. Saints collapsed in the second half against city

maybe that one short corner he played to Fab. But pretty sure Fab was on all of it.

    Advice needed guys:

    Fabianski
    Chambers, Dummet, Baines, Wisdom
    Fabregas, Downing , Siggy, Sanchez
    Kun, Austin

    (Krul, Yun, Wanyama, Costa)

    1FT and 0.6 ITB

I feel I have some issues with the team, especially in defence though also scoring options especially with Costa out.

    Should I:
    1) Wanyama -> Jedinak
    2) Dummet -> Naylor (dangerous – 4 Ycs)
    3) Dummet -> Trippier
    4) Dummet -> Dawson
    5) Any other options to strengthen defence
    6) Save the FT for next GW

    Guzan
    Baines Chambers Naylor
    Sanchez Fabregas Sigurdsson Downing
    Aguero Rooney Sakho

    McCarthy Chadli Wisdom Moore

0.1 ITB. I'd love to have Azpilicueta in there somewhere and to get rid of Chadli and Sakho. Any thoughts?

    Greatly appreciated lads.

So my plan is to once again downgrade a defender to an uber option.

    Worked a trick last time.

Indeed. Despite my Baines > Yun clanger. And now on we go with a similar transfer. 😆

Clyne > Hutton. The very height of excitement.
