With just hours until the Gameweek 14 deadline, we assess the PlayON Player Price List once again this lunchtime. Below we offer a couple of picks per position: one essential weekend target and a left-field alternative for your consideration.

Fantasy managers should be aware that PlayON have now shifted the deadline for submitting your teams. Previously, the cut-off point was two hours before the first kick-off in a Gameweek but, as of tonight, you can now tinker with your starting XI right up until the first match(es) get underway, affording you time to assess the teamsheets before making any final decisions.

PlayON has Freeroll games and Guaranteed Pot games running each week for the rest of the season at www.PlayON.co. This week they have £300 in Freerolls on offer and £2,000 in Guaranteed Pots on offer – to get your free entry into the Freerolls just follow them on Twitter at https://twitter.com/PlayON and like them on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/PlayON

Goalkeeper – Julian Speroni
Despite failing to keep a clean sheet since Gameweek 6, Crystal Palace have started to tighten up defensively and conceded just once in each of the last three. Tonight’s visitors Villa have been struggling in front of goal and mustered just one strike in their last five away trips and Speroni, at just 6.8m in the PlayON Player List, looks excellent value this evening. The Argentine also affords the opportunity of save points – he’s made three saves, worth 200 points each, in each of the Eagles’ last two home matches. David De Gea (7.6m) is our essential goalkeeper pick once again after securing a clean sheet at home to Hull last Saturday. The Spaniard now has two shut outs in as many home matches and this resilience looks set to continue as Stoke arrive at Old Trafford, having failed to score in two of their last three away matches.

Defender – Kyle Bartley
The centre-back is set to continue as a replacement for the injured Federico Fernandez in the heart of Swansea’s backline this evening. At just 5.5m, Bartley is the definition of a budget enabler and his defensive contribution is looked kind upon by the new PlayON Scoring Matrix – over his three appearances, he’s completed six tackles, ten interceptions and 18 clearances. With visitors QPR scoring just twice on their travels so far, the Swans will be confident of earning a sixth clean sheet of the season. After quickly recovering from a hamstring injury, Leighton Baines (9.7m) will be looking to churn out the points once again as Everton play host to struggling Hull. Bearing in mind the Tigers have failed to score away in three matches, a shut out could be on the cards for Roberto Martinez’ side, though it’s Baines’ attacking potential that mainly earns him the nod, with two goals and six assists to his name already.

Midfielder – Ross Barkley
Sidelined through injury at the start of the season, the Everton midfielder’s return to action has seen him play all but 16 minutes of the last four Gameweeks. With just two assists in six appearances this term, Barkley has yet to rediscover the form that produced six goals in 2013/14 but, at 8.9m, the youngster offers a cheaper alternative to team-mate Kevin Mirallas (9.7m). While Mirallas has better form, with a goal in each of his last two, we’ve opted for Barkley as his more combative style seems likely to benefit from the re-introduction of the tackle and interception points in PlayON. Available for 9.8m, Gylfi Sigurdsson continues to produce the goods for Swansea. Having supplied the assist for Wilfried Bony’s goal against Crystal Palace, the Icelandic international has played a part in eight of his side’s 11 goals at the Liberty and now hosts a QPR side that have lost every away encounter this season.

Forward – Ricky Lambert
The Liverpool striker has now grabbed two goals and an assist in three starts and looks set to be the focal point of Brendan Rodgers’ attack for this evening’s trip to Leicester City. Sitting bottom of the table after failing to win since September, the Foxes have managed just a single clean sheet in the last nine Gameweeks and, at a price of 9.8m, Lambert looks a decent in-form option for our two-man frontlines. Robin van Persie is our essential pick for United’s home clash with Hull. At a price of 13.7m he’s far from cheap but, having grabbed a goal and assist at the weekend – and outscoring Wayne Rooney by 700 points in PlayON – we’re backing the Dutchman to make the difference as Louis van Gaal’s side look for a fourth straight victory.

Head over to www.PlayON.co and get your teams in for the £2,000 in guaranteed pots ahead of the 19.45 deadline this evening.

    Looks set?

    Lloris
    Azpi Duff Chambers
    Siggy(vc) Hazard(c) Sanchez Boyd
    Aguero Bony Austin

    Krul Clyne Diame Moore

Planning to do Clyne > Baines for a hit if Duff does not start.
    Any other suggestions?

    Killian here from http://www.playon.co,

We are today announcing that we are extending our team picking deadline from being 2 hours before the first kick-off to being right up to the kick-off time so you can continue amending your teams right up to kick-off time. We would welcome your thoughts on whether you think this will make the game more enjoyable or not.

In addition, we have £300 in Freerolls on offer and £2,000 in Guaranteed Pots on offer – to get your free entry into the Freerolls just follow us on Twitter at https://twitter.com/PlayON and like us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/PlayON

If you any questions about PlayON just add them as replies below and I'll answer them all.

i think it is good in this instance as there will be rotation due to the quick turnaround that is more difficult to foresee than normal

Agree its good this week but in general I think it is better as it was before.

My reasoning for this is this new idea forces people to pick their teams withing the last hour once team news is revealed. I play primarily for fun and would prefer to pick my team at my own pace, perhaps the day before matches.

Also if I were busy in the hour leading up to kickoff I may choose to not play rather than play at a disadvantage.

      Keep up the good work

good idea for Midweek Gameweeks where rotations are high but thats about it. would be unfair for overseas players (i'm from Australia)For example tomorrow mornings matches i'd need to get up at 6.00am to check team sheets and do any amendments to my team for matches starting at 6.30am my time. If this was to happen, eventually you will lose players from places where the timezones are difficult.

BTW great game for fun or serious players. keep up the great work.

Does anyone here play chess? If so, what's your favourite opening/defense?

I personally love to play the Ponziani Gambit variation of the Bishop's Opening for it's openness and, although it annoys me when I play against it (as it prevents me from playing my favoured Bishop's opening variations), I tend to use the Sicilian Defense for it's effectiveness against the King's Pawn opening...

I've tried to get into chess before but things like your post that really put me off. It'll require a stupid amount of effort to get even half way decent at it. I wouldn't mind playing it casually against someone who hasn't learnt every opening variation 10 moves deep 😀

it all depends on quality of opposition, if it is not a club player i do like to make c3 early just to mesh it up in the centre and controlling that, but if it is a good oppositin this is pretty useless.

Bony has only completed 90 mins 3 times this season and Gomis has played a part in all but 2 games. You can imagine that Bony will continue to be hauled off and, during Xmas, Gomis will probably start a game as well.

I reckon he will continue to be a threat as they need him sharp for when Bony heads to ACON. In fact, Monk reckons it is because Gomis is pushing him and competing with him that Bony is upping his game and scoring goals.

Quick question that I probably know the answer to:

My front 7 for this GW is

    Sig/Downing/Sanchez/Hazard
    Aguero/Bony/Welbeck

I still have Zaha, because I've had more pressing transfers to make-but he's gone next GW. If Zaha turns out to be starting tonight, would you play him over Downing?

My head says "hell no", I think my heart is thinking this could be his "last hurrah".

Have no idea how to get rid of Tadic. ðŸ™

Can't afford more expensive than him and only options are Barkley, Chadli and Downing. If I get one of them I can get Jedinak as well.

    What u think?

    Afternoon all,

    Any better move than this?

Chadli (che) & Costa (blank) -> Mirallas (HUL) & Rooney (STO)

    Bank 0.6m, 2 freebies

    Elliot
    Terry, Chambers, Wisdom
    Sanchez, Hazard, Siggy, Chadli
    Aguero, Bony, Costa

    Krul, Hutton, Yun, Albrighton

I was contemplating that exact move but went for Azpilicueta with Rooney as my defence is rubbish. Looks epic tho

Living in Oz I Was pondering whether to get up at 03:30am to check the lineups, then realised I only have 3 players playing today.... Siggy Downing Guzan... So what's the point, as they'll all play anyway!

So it's sweet dreams for me..!!! 🙂

One thing I've notice over the last few GW's is the cheap defensive options are starting to falter. Without the option of a double Southampton defense it is getting much tougher to look for clean sheets.

I think there are many reasons but one is fatigue for those who've had overworked rearguards.

I think having 2 top defenders is a good idea over December with a congested fixture list and little time for recovery

I've currently got Baines, but wil stretch a hit next weekend for Azpi

    Thoughts?

Yes that could work. I got burned early on by Chelsea defenders but you'd back them to start putting a few cleansheets together again soon. I gave up and went with Baines & Coleman for the attacking points.

With Onuoha as central defender, and attacking play. This will be a different game, they will sit deeper, and Swansea are not great going forward. Low scoring game imo.

Okay, I like QPR, but calling me a fan would not be fair to those who really are 🙂

But I have seen a lot of positives and improving things in their play in november, but guess the stats dont support me then, so just go on and captain Bony you people 🙂
