A disappointing Gameweek 15 finally comes to its conclusion this evening as Southampton brace themselves for the visit of in-form Man United. Louis van Gaal’s side roll up to St Mary’s on the back of four successive wins and will be looking to take advantage of their injury-hit hosts.

Despite the loss of Angel Di Maria to a hamstring complaint, United will be confident of another victory after Wayne Rooney recovered from a knee problem late last week. The Red Devils skipper has scored in each of his last two league appearances and has the chance to stake a claim as a possible replacement for Sergio Aguero in our three-man frontlines tonight.

Robin van Persie, Juan Mata and Marouane Fellaini have all been amongst the goals in the last two matches and have the platform to cement a place in Fantasy managers’ thoughts ahead of Gameweek 16.

For the Saints, Ronald Koeman faces a tough task to steady the ship. Southampton have lost each of the last two without finding the net, and with the likes of Morgan Schneiderlin, Jack Cork and Toby Alderweireld ruled out, a ninth clean sheet of the season looks hard to come by.

The misfiring Graziano Pelle – still owned by 22% of Fantasy Premier League managers – attempts to score for the first time in seven Gameweeks this evening, whilst the inconsistent Dusan Tadic may struggle to improve upon a record which has seen him blank in 10 of his 14 league appearances.

That's frustrating. I don't agree with that rule, puts one player at an unfair advantage. Like saying in the fa cup if it's a draw the team higher in the football league goes through. IMO should be decided on goals scored then CS.

Mate, he's managed 3 shots in the whole match. In fact, that's all ManU has managed. They've been riding their luck lately. This conversation rate is untenable. Either they have to start to produce bigger numbers, or they start to blank seriously. And that goes for RVP too.

          1. Camp No No
            • 12 Years
            11 years, 5 months ago

YaYa's conversion rate never was fecking 66%. And in fact, excluding penalties and free kicks that he executed with top rate, his scoring all season rate was, although excellent, not untenable. It was a bit below 30% for the whole season. Costa has kept about that same rate for 4 seasons in row. However, Costa did that with better scoring chances and is more likely to keep it up that high, while YaYa is likelier to drop closer to normal, as it has already one.

Ramsey's rate was lower than YaYa's and guess what, he was unable to keep it up. It was one Autumn with just 4 unlikely long shot goals that put his scoring rate anomalously high for a moment. Since then, he's been pretty much his normal self with just more runs into the box than before it.

Anyone who has actually regularly watched United this season would know that RVP has been playing well, just not finishing according to his own standards. The hold-up work and the interplay with his teammates has been more or less quality and the few games where he's been more invisible were from lack of service from his teammates and being isolated up top.

Not saying that Aguero > RVP is THE move, but it's not a stupid one.

In one respect you could say it's a smart one if you're guilty of making many moves because at least you have the money set aside to get Kun back with one transfer (likely) AND the man is building form now anyhow.

I still like Sakho and Benteke as Aguero replacements (already have Bony), but RVP is not off my radar.

Who will Utd sign in January?

Clyne would be a good signing plus a fit CB

    Aguero + Boyd -> Sakho + Yaya?

Means I can play a decent 442 next week and keep Fabregas and Austin in my team.

    A) Aguero to Dzeko or Bony.
    B) Aguero and Kane to Dzeko and Bony (-4).
    C) Neither.

Rooney's 3 vs all the Saints defs losing 1 is a net gain for non-owners, I take it.
