After taking a look at those teams with Strong fixtures to follow over the next four-to-six Gameweeks, we now assess those with tougher upcoming schedules. North east pair Sunderland and Newcastle face some testing times, whilst bottom two Burnley and Leicester also have little reason for festive cheer.

Newcastle

“frisking

The Magpies proved their mettle by putting an end to Chelsea’s unbeaten run last Saturday, but must now navigate a horrendous next six if they are to further their cause. Alan Pardew’s men face a tricky encounter with Everton at St James’ Park, as well as three of the toughest away trips around as they make their way to Arsenal, United and Chelsea.

With injury and suspension hitting hard, the Magpies are likely to struggle to rediscover the defensive resilience shown between Gameweeks 8-12 anytime soon, meaning that Daryl Janmaat will need to rely on his attacking raids down the right to earn his owners further returns. Further forward, those eyeing up striker Papiss Cisse after his weekend brace are advised to hold off for now whilst his minutes, and the schedule, look uncertain.

Southampton

“frisking

The Saints are struggling under the strain of expectation after their early season form, and the load could yet increase across the Christmas period. A trip to Burnley is next on the agenda and will at least afford them some respite, but beyond that things still looks unmistakably bleak – Everton, Chelsea and Arsenal make their way to St Mary’s in their next three home encounters, with a visit to Old Trafford lying in wait beyond that.

Without a clean sheet in their last four, owners of Ryan Bertrand and Nathaniel Clyne will have been weighing up an exit route, and that strategy is unlikely to change bearing in mind their imminent schedule. Graziano Pelle, meanwhile, found his scoring boots for the first time in seven appearances against United on Monday, but that return to form could be quickly curtailed, and the Italian will still be hard-tasked to reclaim the plethora of owners he has lost over recent weeks.

Stoke

“frisking

Saturday’s triumphant win over Arsenal brought a three-match losing streak to a close for the Potters, and a trip to Crystal Palace this weekend will offer them a chance to build momentum. That is sure to come in handy, however, as the fixtures then take a severe turn for the worse for Mark Hughes’ side, who meet Chelsea and Everton in their next two and also face consecutive match-ups with United and Arsenal in Gameweeks 20 and 21.

It would be fair to say that Bojan has finally found his feet at the Brittania, and the former Barcelona starlet – alongside fellow striker Peter Crouch – turned in a great advertisement for their budget forward services against the Gunners. However, both are now sure to be tested against some of the league’s tightest defences in the coming weeks, whilst the chances of the Potters’ own rearguard managing their first shutout since Gameweek 6 looks doubtful. Jon Walters’ recent renaissance – with three goals in four – may struggle to continue over that spell.

Also Be Wary Of…

Arsenal
The Gunners may have underlined their potential in last night’s mauling of Galatasaray, but managers should be cautious before jumping on board without a look at their next five fixtures, which contain three tricky away encounters at Liverpool, West Ham and Southampton. Owners of the suspended Calum Chambers will be even more tempted by the idea of getting rid of the young defender as Mathieu Debuchy returns to action, whilst the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Aaron Ramsey and Danny Welbeck will have to be at their best for the Gunners to prosper over the festive spell.

Burnley
A 2-0 loss to QPR will have come as a bitter blow to Sean Dyche’s men, who had finally strung together a series of results prior to Saturday’s bottom of the table scrap. A potentially spirit-wrecking next four now awaits the Clarets, who visit Spurs and Man City on either side of home clashes with Southampton and Liverpool. With Christmas rotation on the cards, owners of George Boyd may be forced to call upon his services across those fixtures, though he is likely to struggle to replicate his timely Gameweek 14 strike. Up top, Danny Ings has fetched returns in three of his last four outings but his worth as a budget asset looks set for a stiff test.

Leicester
The Foxes are without a win since Gameweek 5, and their chances of turning that dire form around look slim over the upcoming schedule. Nigel Pearson’s side face a trip to West Ham sandwiched in between two home meetings with Man City and Spurs in their next three, and whilst Leonardo Ulloa has showed glimpses of his early season with a goal and two assists in his last three, the striker – who is expected to recover from a calf knock – will have his work cut out to maintain that form in the lead up to Christmas.

Is it crazy having a front line of Bony / Austin / Sakho?

Is the only reason we think Rooney/Costa is that much more reliable than Sakho their price tags?

It's as easy to argue it's crazy *not* to have that frontline given the price tags. The rest of your team must be something to behold. Keep the faith.

        Interesting angle that.

It would allow me a midfield of Hazard/Sanchez/Silva/Ramsey/Downing, with a defense that includes Baines/Azpi/Zabaleta...

Precisely. Austin has as many points as Costa.

The thing with the teams further down the league is that they don't have the squads either, so no rotation of these guys. Just a shame Bony is off to ACON

No, it's that their teams will hold the ball for longer periods and create more chances - consistently, for the whole season.

Having said that I've been looking at that front line. I do think there's fantastic value in the forwards this year. My worry is that it doesn't leave you a good in route to a half expensive forward. Could work for Xmas though with the safety of a wildcard in Jan to fix it.

This is exatly my thinking. I would never commit to that long-long term, but the WC is relatively close, and I quite like the idea of having a really strong 15 where I can pick the best lot based on fixtures each week. I've never gone down this route before btw, I used to roll with Suarez/Sturridge/Rooney up top and a back line of 2013 Clynes and Demels.

So, to ship Chambers out for Baines by a hit, is it really worth it?

*This is like my long-term move, I've wanted Baines for a while, thankfully been quiet the last few weeks, but he is always one match away from a big haul. As for Chambers, it will eventually be the odd game at CB for him, and honestly, Monreal's performances showed he could compete with him for the third CB spot.

*Also, not at all confident playing Yun/Dummett this week. Colo/STaylor/Krul are out, so that means Williamson and Dummett at CB, wouldn't be good at all. Also, Yun and QPR will be playing a fresh Everton side this week, after everyone will be rested for Europa, including Baines.

    Also, happy birthday, Leighton.

        2. Baines' form is on a serious dip. Who says that Chambers will lose his spot? Wenger? I think not.

If you want a banger, go for Cahill/Ivanovic at the moment.

Do it, Baines has QPR (H) and is capable of big stuff (even though hasnt done much lately)
If you dont do it now you would wanna get rid of Chambers later, Arsenal will have trouble with cs next few games. If not Baines then Chelsea and City defense but you probably already have...

Can't really fit him in. I'd love to but not for a hit, especially when a ban is around the corner. I'll try and get him before ACON if I can.

Would you keep Cesc(I own Hazard as well) and then just do Kun->Dzeko for free? Would mean I have to play Boyd this week.

Next week I could then do Boyd->Silva once he has played a couple of minutes or even Cesc->Yaya if he is not suspended. Do I want to lose Cesc I guess is the Q.

The thing is i don't want to not take a -4 and then kick myself when Yaya takes leicester apart. I think the top 10k will be all over Yaya this week and I don't own Costa as it is.

                  😕

I think you've laid out the best plan there. Get dzeko this week. I'd have no problem playing Boyd. I've watched quite a bit of Burnley recently and they're not as bad as people think. Wouldn't surprise me if they did ok v Southampton and Boyd obviously has a goal in him.

Hopefully next week you can get Yaya. Will the top 10k be all over him? I'm not so sure. I could be wrong but it will mean a hit for the vast majority and as he's on 4 YC's I can't see that they will. I'm all for a hit for a good fixture as it often pays off but not when he's on 4 YC's. Surely most of the top 10k will agree.

Do you want to lose Cesc? It wouldn't bother me either way. For yaya for free certainly. Long term it looks like Costa isn't worth it doesn't it so that frees up so much for the mids. It has to be a straight choice between the two I'd lose Cesc

Just my two cents. Hope that helps.

No trannies yet, but I have:

                Red: Cesc/Austin/Kun
                Carrot: Duff

Also Heaton/Bertrand/Boyd/Duff(?) facing eachother so that's a problem as Burnley is kak.

No idea what to do, other then I want Citeh cover.

When Noble is back Downing will lose all set pieces right?

      1. Wrong. Just that Noble will take penalties.

thought he was on CK’s as well

          1. Downing is one of the few very decent Corner takers in the Premier League.

What to do with this team?

      Bego, Gilks
      Yun, Naylor, Clyne, CHAMBERS, MOORE
      Hazard, Sanchez, Siggy, Marney, FAB
      Costa, AGUERO, AUSTIN

Probably 5 non starters. Should i WC or just something like this:
      Aguero > Sakho
      Chambers > Zabaleta
      Moore > Baines

I think you should sell Aguero and Chambers, only.
        And play.

        Begovic,
        Naylor, Clyne, Zaba/Baines, Yun,
        Hazard, Sanchez, Siggy, Marney,
        NEW STRIKER, Costa.

So, a straight shoot out between rested Hazard and Sanchez for the armband for me.. Very difficult decision...!

Other choices are Baines, Costa who looked rubbish last night and Lukaku who is known to disappoint when expected to do well..

Same. Was on Costa up until last night but Hazard's rest + form make it Hazard v Sanchez .

My defence is Smalling Chambers, Azpi, Dummet and Yun

I have 4.5itb and one transfer left. I want City defence coverage. Do I?

      Smalling to Zab
      Smalling to Clichy
      Smalling to Baines
      Or something else?

Why keep Chambers? Also I wouldn't be getting Baines right now (even though I'm an owner and keeping)

Idk how long Smalling is out for, but I'd be looking to get him out as well. Zaba if you can afford him, if not Clichy.

I really can not make up my mind over which Man City midfielder to get in. Yaya, Silva & Nasri all seem great options but it's hard to see which one is best.

        Yeah Smurf. Im stumped.

Nasri has never been good to me. Yaya killed me last year when I never owned him until his DGW, and then I didn't (c) him.

      DDG
      Wisdom - Clyne - Azpill

      Costa - Dzeko - Sakho

      Any thoughts?
