This week’s ScoutCast is a throwback – a return to the days when Granville moaned about his team of red flags and names like Robin van Persie and Yaya Toure dominated our thinking.

Granville and I slip into such subject matter like it’s a pair of old slippers, whilst assessing the Aguero fall-out, the Dzeko option, Ivanovic versus “Dave” Azpi and how I’ve modelled my Fantasy Football management style on Roy Hodgson.

We roll out the regulars and lament the demise of the ScoutCast team – eliminated in the opening round of our own cup competition. Some things never change.

Swim in nostalgia via this link or roll back the years via the player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    @Triggerlips

On my laptop when i read your blog there are often several sentences that seem to be cut out in random places in each post. Do you anything about this?

My bank balance is bulging thanks to Aguero and I have enough to upgrade Chambers to any defender.

Is Baines still a no brainer as number one defender in the game or should I be considering someone in Chelsea or City?

I'd prefer a Chelsea defender to Baines right now.

for pure clean sheet value alone city have the best short term fixtures

Not number 1 in current form, but definitely will always be amongst the best regardless of fixtures. Would prefer Chelsea or City for value right now though.

Without Fabregas, is Costa still likely to do well against Hull? Or Chelsea for that sake?

Hull are second bottom of the form table and have been very poor for most of 2014. I see no reason why Chelsea shouldn't win comfortably without Fab.

    RMT!

    Guzan
    Bertrand, Baines, Dummet
    Hazard, Sanchez, Chadli, Siggy, Tiote
    Costa, Rooney

    Krul, Yun, Wisdom, Austin

    2FT, 0.4itb

    DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO.

      Chadli to Downing, perhaps.
Chadli should be your biggest concern right now.

Tiote is fine as a fifth mid. Not ideal this week, but okay long term.

I am not a huge fan of picking Downing but on this occasion it maybe for the best. Chadli to Downing could work. You do need a stronger 4th midfielder.

  10. Demel
    • 14 Years

I not only broke the cardinal fpl sin. I picked up the sin and smashed it into little pieces.

I took an 8 point hit to bring defenders in (and I am still in the cup!)

Taking hits for defenders should not be viewed as a 1 game..it will benefit u long term so i do not see anything wrong.

      1. Demel
        • 14 Years

That was my thinking. Yun and Wasilewski (both would have played this week) to Baines & Clichy.

        1. money face bandwagon

gd timing to get them in as both have a decent chance to recoup some of the lost points and u have a better line up next week

            • 14 Years
            11 years, 7 days ago

Thanks. I think jt gives me quite a strong squad..

            Foster
Baines - Clichy - Chambers (I know he is out this week)
            Hazard - Siggy - Sanchez - Yaya
Costa - Dzeko - Austin (ditto Chambers)

            Myhill - Boyd - Hutton - Bartley

Like you said. A good long term pair of transfers...

is silva expected to start tomorrow? do these make sense for a double hit?

      1. SpaceCadet
        • 12 Years
        11 years, 7 days ago

would have to play dummet and have a bench of Austin, chambers and moore.

Maybe kun > costa and chambers > zaba for a hit?

        1. Demel
          • 14 Years
          11 years, 7 days ago

That would work. As someone who took a hit to bring in Clichy this week my concern for Zab would be the same ..beware the back up City full back.

            courtois
            baines cresswell dummet
            siggy downing haz sanchez chadli
            benteke costa

              • 14 Years
              11 years, 7 days ago

With Dummet likely to score zero points and Chadli quite possibly not getting playing tine (along with Moore) I don't think you have much to lose with a good double hit. With some cash in the bank you could go for the Moore and Chambers > Clichy and Azpi or Debuchy upgrade. Then bench Chadli and Dummet.

                11 years, 7 days ago

                best option of the lot?

                a. moore and chambers > zaba and hutton
                b. chambers and chadli > zaba and mirralas
                c. chambers and chadli > hutton and ramsey

                  • 14 Years
                  11 years, 7 days ago

I like A. C is an interesting differential punt but A looks best to me.However, I don't think I would take a points hit on Hutton. I would just go for the Zab transfer this week for a hit and leave the Hutton one until next week.

    My team:

    Foster, Mannone
    Clyne, Moreno, Hutton, Duff, Naylor
    Fabz, Siggy, Sanchez, Jedinak, Eriksen
    Aguero, Austin, Benteke

    Leading ML by about 60.

As someone who owns both I would probably go for Sanchez. But if you are trying to climb leagues then Yaya is a good bet. The 4 yellow cards is a concern but that partly depends how strong your bench is.

Meh, he doesn't suit the Chelsea set-up. Slows down the game way too much, and Drogba has better aerial ability.

If I needed so much strength, I'd rather buy and play Shawcross up front.

I wish Chelsea had bought Aguero when he left Atletico

A bit harsh on him. Costa is excellent in hold up play that allows midfielders burst forward. He's a good finisher.

Nothing you can do now except sit back and enjoy watching your players. Good team but get a better 5th mid to rotate with Kane imo.

      1) No idea - could be from about 1 week to 1 month just because he plays for Arsenal

      2) Terry

I would have him on my radar, if Eriksen continues to fail.
