Exactly. Keane was far more effective. Not as strong in terms of technical ability but they'd have won more titles without Scholes than they would have without Keane.
keane is just a defensive midfielder, you can replace him. The whole 'midfield general' rubbish I never understood. He just tackled.. Scholes never got tackled, passed well and scored
What Keane did had a far greater impact on all 21 other players that went out onto that pitch. Effectiveness > technical ability (and Scholes' technical ability is now ridiculously overhyped).
That sounds like he gave a fear factor. Nobody is scared of a football player on the pitch, down a dark alley I'd be scared but not on a pitch. When Keane retired Man United still did well because they were more scared of fergusen
