The final match of Gameweek 16 sees Everton look for a first win in four attempts this evening, as QPR roll up to Goodison. Roberto Martinez’ men have failed to replicate last term’s heroics so far and, like their visitors, have triumphed in only four of the first 15 rounds of fixtures.

The home side will be buoyed by their opponents’ woeful away form, though. Harry Redknapp’s side have lost every match outside of Loftus Road so far and with top scorer Charlie Austin serving a one-match suspension tonight, the R’s will be reliant on in-form midfielder Leroy Fer to bag a third goal in four appearances. The R’s centre-half Steven Caulker misses out altogether tonight, as Richard Dunne is partnered by Nedum Onouha in the heart of the back-four.

For the Toffees, Romelu Lukaku carries the major goal threat. The big Belgian has scored in each of his last four home starts and with the R’s conceding more than two goals per away match, he’ll fancy his chances of extending that streak. Leighton Baines and Seamus Coleman’s raiding runs from full-back should also play a prominent part in Everton’s attacks, whilst Kevin Mirallas’ goal and assist in the last three suggests he’s finding his form just in time for this one. Elsewhere for the hosts, Steven Naismith has shrugged off a hamstring injury and returns to the starting XI.

When Mirallas can aim at a defender at such an angle to make the ball go into the corner, you have to give it to him.

I think he earns about 2.2 million a year. If there was say a 1000 people in this community ( there is far more, this is just to prove a point) we would have to average £2200 a year salary for that to be true

Baines has scored 2 free kicks in his last 70 matches - both in the same match against West Ham last season.

7 of his 9 assists so far this season have been from open play.

He's still on penalties - which is primary reason for fantasy appeal.

Mirallas stealing free kicks and corners is being massively overstated on here. The thing you need to ACTUALLY worry about is Mirallas hogging the ball and the left touchline in open play!

Coming from someone who hasn't owned Baines all season, you owners all need to seriously calm down.

I tend to agree. I will keep so long as Everton maintain the odd clean sheet. Potential for pens and assists is worth the money.

Good point. I'm more worried by the lack of crosses, cut-backs, and overall penetration from Baines due to Mirallas' presence in open play. FK's are just annoying though.

I have, indirectly, 7 of 9 assists from open play, so two from set pieces - one direct from a free kick, one from a corner that came back to him.

for 7m+ at a team that isn't that great defensively, you want more set pieces and more forward movement.

having baines and jags is nightmare viewing i think anyone other than qpr would have scored by now this everton defence has no decent shield atm. cant see a cleanie tonight.

mirallas is killing baines who is now only has pens over several other good choice full backs. baines to zab is looking the call now and jags to follow soon after. might be worth a look when barry and mccarthy return

Barton is the reason Everton are 2 up here.

As usual, he gave the ball away which started the move for Everton's first and gave away a needless free kick in a dangerous area for their second.

Been saying for weeks on qprreport that Henry should be in instead of Barton.

Another wasted away day now. Got to heat West Brom this weekend now.
