Just a few hours after the final whistle went at St Jamesโ€™ Park, we bring you an update on those players who have picked up injury concerns on the back of todayโ€™s nine matches. A certain City midfielder is our headline act ahead of the championsโ€™ home match against Sunderland on Thursday.

Aston Villa
Ciaran Clark was forced off with a back problem in todayโ€™s goalless draw with Sunderland. Paul Lambert also confirmed that Jores Okore, who replaced his fellow defender, was on the bench as he wanted to protect him after a lengthy injury lay-off.

Chelsea
Oscar missed the Bluesโ€™ draw at Southampton due to illness, as Cesc Fabregas was handed the role in โ€œthe holeโ€ for the second time in three Gameweeks.

Everton
James McCarthy was withdrawn at the break in the Toffeesโ€™ defeat at Newcastle after suffering a slight recurrence of his hamstring injury. After the match, Roberto Martinez confirmed:

“It was more precaution. James came back from injury on Friday and was able to play 60 minutes and today, at half-time, he was at a very high risk of injury so had to come off. It was feeling a little bit tight and because we know his history of previous injuries, we had to protect that.”

Hull City
Gaston Ramirez was forced off at half-time against Leicester with Steve Bruce confirming a groin injury post-match. The Uruguayan has been suffering from groin problems since his arrival at the KC Stadium on loan from Southampton.

Leicester
Leonardo Ulloa was withdrawn early in the second-half of this afternoonโ€™s win at Hull after picking up a knock.

Manchester City
Manuel Pellegrini has revealed that Yaya Toure missed todayโ€™s 2-2 draw with Burnley due to a groin problem and will be assessed ahead of Thursdayโ€™s home encounter with Sunderland:

โ€œWe hope that he will be because it was a lesser problem but after 48 hours maybe it is too high a risk to repeat โ€“ [it is] a muscle injury in his groin. Yaya was not able to play today, 90 minutes. It was a risk for him. The players that played today were the players who were able to. Yaya felt a problem at the beginning of the last game against West Bromwich. He was not 100% so I think it was not good for him to play today.โ€

Pellegrini is also uncertain over Vincent Kompanyโ€™s availability for the Black Catsโ€™ clash:

โ€œWe will see tomorrow if he is fit for the next game. It is very difficult now to know. He has some problems still in his calf.โ€

Manchester United
Antonio Valencia was replaced at the break with a groin problem, Louis van Gaal has revealed.

Southampton
Nathaniel Clyne missed this afternoonโ€™s draw against Chelsea due to an ankle injury. After the match, Ronald Koeman confirmed:

“He got a kick on his ankle. He’s out for around 10 days. I don’t think he’ll be available for Arsenal game”

Stoke
Mark Hughes has confirmed that Bojan was withdrawn late in against West Brom due to a potential hamstring injury but is optimistic the Spaniard will be fit in time to face United on Thursday.

Sunderland
Liam Bridcutt was forced off early off during Sunderlandโ€™s match at Villa after failing to recover from a head knock sustained in a clash with Christian Benteke. See Larsson was also withdrawn on 57 minutes with Gus Poyet confirming post-match that the Swede had twisted his ankle and sustained some ligament damage. The Black Cats boss did, however, play down the injury ahead of their New Year’s day trip to the Etihad…

“Seb has twisted his ankle. It is ligament damage, but nothing serious โ€“ a few days.”

Tottenham
Nabil Bentaleb missed todayโ€™s lunchtime encounter with United due to illness.

West Brom
Left-back Sebastien Pocognoli missed the derby loss at Stoke due to injury, according to reports in the local press. After the match, Baggies boss Alan Irvine explained his reasons for subbing off Stephane Sessegnon and James Morrison:

“Sessegnon has a bit of a calf problem that is on-going and has done extremely well to play through games.. James Morrison has been nursing a knee injuryโ€ฆSessegnon and Morrison are going through a bit of discomfort. It wasnโ€™t because they had played poorly. I was trying to look after them.”

I wonder whether Jovetic will take them if neither Yaya, Lamps or Kolarov are playing.

Jovetic used to take some for Fiorentina and I think he takes them for his national team.

Pulis transformed Stoke over the long term and then Palace over the short term. The Toon would be lucky to ever have organisation like his.

So, we're halfway through the FPL season. Who's happy with their rank/season so far?

Aims for the end of the season?

Currently at my best ever FPL rank (5k) so I'm aiming for a top 1000 finish which would be awesome.

Very happy with it. Would like to have a go at the top 100 but would be very happy with 1k.

Top 100 would be great had a couple of bad weeks and dropped to 263 currently, anything inside top 1000 I would be happy with as never finished in top 1k. Failing that beating my best rank of around 1.9k I would be happy with.

Really happy, slipped up last season big time, having my best season so far now. I've posted it a couple of times but it's really amazing:

      GW6 Rank: 1,087,134
      Now: 78,966

      Never Give In.

      Currently 2291
3 bad decisions cost me ~100pts
1st one 2 freebies...didn't want to waste transfer so did jovetic-costa gw3 move
2nd almost goit ...kun+obertan when kun scored 4 and obertan 11 pts
3rd last gw...again 2freebies and again no idea wut to do and instead to buy gk did famous roon-donkey C move
Generally satisfied but wanna be in top 500 to beat last year 1.5k finish
Also lost in 2nd round of ffs pp cup and I won last one so no back-to-back title

Slow start but got myself on a great run from gw7 rank 400k to 600 after GW16.

First goal is to get back in the top 1k after dropping out again but hopeful I can push on from here and just try and get as high as I can. Top 100 the dream.

Should always go with my guy feeling, think outside the box & you'll stay atop of the point.
Don't second guess yourself, if it feels right & you know a player is destined to score big a given GW, get him in!

Was contemplating all week before Gw18 on using my trannie on getting Sterling in for Oscar, but talked myself out of it with hard evidence proving Oscar guilty of "rotation proof" for the GW after a recent benching. In the back of my mind I knew getting Sterling in was the move for the week, OoP, great fixture, etc...

It proved my downfall, because Oscar blanked again & Sterling banked a goal & BAPs.
11 to 3, Sterleing won. Now have 2 FT's to fix a problem I would not have encountered if I went my gut. Oh & Oscar was benched this week also, so, there's that too.
Will laugh my arse of if he scored again.
