This evening, we roll out the seventh round draw of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup X, as sponsored by Paddy Power, and take a look back at the key events during New Year’s Day’s sixth round ties.

United Nations is fast becoming the manager to beat after clocking up his second prize for scoring the highest number of points in a round. A tally of 69 points has propelled him into 334th position overall, earning him another £25 worth of free bets from Paddy Power and setting him up for a round seven tie with Mince and Tatties. United Nations’ fielding of Harry Kane and Gael Clichy proved crucial to his victory.

The giant-killing accolade of the round goes to Aaron Ramessi. He may be ranked 33,436th overall but he saw off round six’s highest ranked manager Never Trust Lukaku, who is ranked 19th. Aaron Ramessi now faces CMIFLFC in the seventh round.

Other notable round seven ties include Mediocre Men, who knocked Granville out in round five, taking on Momalpashands, and community writer Saata facing up to Wolverine. Jimbojunior drew the short straw and meets round seven’s highest ranked manager Mjfdept, who is 65th overall.

Among the 16 remaining competitors, 13 have a rank within the top 10,000 and four are in the elite top 1,000 group.

The full list of sixth round results can be found here, while the seventh round draw in full can be found here.

Good luck to those involved in the weekend’s action. In the meantime, though, if you’re looking for more information on the Scout Cup schedule and prizes available, click this link for a more thorough rundown.

When I WC I lose a lot of TV with each sale. How relevant is this? I have players I want rid but may buy back later, at a higher price.

    1. Walsh
      11 years, 10 months ago

The biggest thing to weigh in that is how much you think you will want to buy a player back.

      1. dmhomag
        11 years, 10 months ago

sold bertand before bad fixtures. even though i think 5.7 makes sense i keep going back to my original 5.1 and decide not to get.

        1. Walsh
          11 years, 10 months ago

Yeah I would ignore that trepidation if I were you. Bertrand even if buying at 5.7 is a good pick although I know it sucks that you had him for so cheap.

    Finish the squad? 2FT:

    Guzan
    Baines Terry Wisdom
    Fabregas [-------] Hazard Sanchez
    Austin Benteke [--------]

    Bench: Downing, N. Taylor, Dummet

Essentially which is the best third striker and fifth midfielder for me to have right now?
    Budget is very high!

      Boyd and Kane lol.

hahaha, were the first two names that popped into my head too!

Crazy as it sounds, I'd like Kane for that third forward slot in your team and keep money in the bank for when Aguero is back (probably to replace Benteke).

Do you think Downing is now worth letting go or do you think he's just on a dip?

      Just a dip imo

    2. Timtastic03

If you have him instead of Siggy swap back as WHM have a poor run of fixtures

    4. Walsh
      11 years, 10 months ago

Clear dip in form but I still think he's the best cheap fourth mid in the game if you need one to start week in week out. He could have easily been in the points against West Brom he looked decent enough in MOTD highlights to me.

    5. MoMalpasHands
      11 years, 10 months ago

I've been thinking of selling too, although will probably keep until after HUL (H).

I got rid of Siggy 2 weeks ago and was rewarded by him scoring 2 in 2.

        Why not?

        1. Walsh
          11 years, 10 months ago

Eriksen is on set pieces which is nice for consistency in ticking over as well as finally having everything running through him. Also seems pretty nailed for 90 while Chadli may be subbed off early. Still just don't trust Chadli despite how good he looked against Chelsea it was only one game. Lamela is still lurking. I'd pay the extra for Eriksen if I were looking at a Spurs mid.

          1. ILOVEBAPS
            11 years, 10 months ago

Cheers for the thorough reply 🙂
Concerned he got a big fat zilch in a five goal game!

            1. Walsh
              11 years, 10 months ago

Yeah that was more of an unfortunate circumstance rather an indictment as to how he played. He was still very involved to me.

              1. ILOVEBAPS
                11 years, 10 months ago

Ok cheers. I can see now how if he outscores Chadli that there will be a lot of "I knew I should have trusted Eriksen to come good" chatter on here.

                1. Walsh
                  11 years, 10 months ago

                  11 years, 10 months ago

That said, I think it is mental to double up on Spurs attack and I think Kane is too much value to pass up so I will be continuing on with neither for the foreseeable future!

                  1. SC not pearls before swine
                    11 years, 10 months ago

I disagree that doubling up is mental. Both have decent prices and have scored decent points. Spurs' inconsistency will lead to some uneven scores, but what does that matter if over the long haul they outscore similarly priced options?

                    1. ILOVEBAPS
                      11 years, 10 months ago

Agree. not mental with from and fixtures.

                    2. Walsh
                      11 years, 10 months ago

I don't know. That side is the epitome of inconsistency to me and I don't think they have the firepower week in week out to designate two attacking slots to. Just my view!

                      1. SC not pearls before swine
                        11 years, 10 months ago

Fair, I certainly wouldn't want to captain either, but I'm looking at a double up for the long haul. Last year, Eriksen + Adebayor worked qutie well for spells.

Who to get until Aguero's return

    A. Rooney/Falcao - SOU, qpr, LEI

    D. Giroud - STK, mci, AVL

  12. Sardines in the Sea

Planning on using my WC at the end of Jan. I would really like to pull Hazard in prior to Newcastle game but I have Terry, Fab and Costa. Would it be worth it to do

Costa/Downing> Ings, Hazard for a -4 until WC at end of Jan?

    Current team:
    Panti, Fabi
    Zab, Terry, Bert, Naylor, Hutton
    Sanchez, Downing, Siggy, Fab, Silva
    Costa, Austin, Kane

    1. BLACKSHEEP
      11 years, 10 months ago

How much cash have you got spare? I would rather lose fab than Costa.

    2. BLACKSHEEP
      11 years, 10 months ago

      For example Downing --> Boyd
      Fab --> hazard.

      1. Sardines in the Sea
        11 years, 10 months ago

Really want to keep Fab over Costa. I have 4.5m ITB

    3. Fiona B
      11 years, 10 months ago

I'd rather lose Terry than Costa or Fab. Terry will not keep scoring, Chelsea have looked a little leaky recently and there isn't a mid or striker as consistent than Fab or Costa.

    1. Niemi
      11 years, 10 months ago

No. Not nailed on at all. Walker, Fazio and Vertonghen is pretty much nailed on though.

Guzan & Heaton rotates really well. Anyone else getting this combo?

    1. Walsh
      11 years, 10 months ago

Foster is 100% in my WC. Will have to look more into who I want to get to rotate with him.

      1. Sylvester the Investor
        11 years, 10 months ago

I was looking at the Guzan Foster rotation. After gw23 it looks really good.

        1. Walsh
          11 years, 10 months ago

Cheers will take a peek at Guzan, mate. Only thing is Foster has a lot of good away fixtures and if memory serves they have more of a home/away rotation which may not be the best route. But...I will certainly look at Guzan!

      2. It’s gonna Ben Mee
        11 years, 10 months ago

It will be interesting to see what Pulis can do with West Brom, yes. Not sure about Foster though.

        1. Walsh
          11 years, 10 months ago

They will simply become a fortress. Simples 🙂 They were already pretty decent defensively under Irvine and just remember what Pulis did to Palace when their defense was in complete and utter shambles under Holloway last season.

Is having no Arsenal attacking coverage bad?

    1. BLACKSHEEP
      11 years, 10 months ago

Probably. I haven't, and everything that can go wrong in my team inevitably does...

Only worthwhile cover is Sanchez in my eyes though.

    2. SC not pearls before swine
      11 years, 10 months ago

Nah. Coverage isn't really important. At some point, you may want one to three of Sanchez/Walcott/Ramsey/Cazorla/Giroud, but you can easily pick 8 players who don't play for Arsenal who will score good points.

  20. Timtastic03
    11 years, 10 months ago

@GB, just remembered the Bavies v Rose dilemma: I'm pretty sure Bavies will start this weekend regardless of who's first choice. No reason for Poch to play Rose twice in 4 days and Bavies would still get the best part of a week off before the PL game (Mon > Sat is like any other week).

    4.0 Clyne Chester King

    2m ITB & 1 FT

    C) Austin to Jovetic
    D) Save FT

Wouldn't get rid of Clyne so close to the WC if you've made any value on him.
D (or C if you feel like it and don't want him back on the WC)

    2. Timtastic03

No reason to take a hit given you have 3 solid starters without Demi. Do the Giroud move and wait till the next gw for Demi - not much risk in losing value there either

Take the hit next week if you still think you need to (-4 either way). Doubt the replacement you're lining up for Demi is much more likely to get a CS than Hutton/Terry/Zab

I know you love a hit Sinik. 😉 Who will play City defence this game week as they are capable of a CS vs an out of sorts Eve?

I guess we'll find out in the FA Cup! I feel like if Kompany starts this week then Demi may get the nod for Everton as they have Arsenal right after..

no idea though and am fully expecting Demi to be worthless now

Wait and re-evaluate after the Cup then. G'luck! 🙂
PS. I have Clichy so I have no idea what to do either... am playing Hutton over him at present. Is that wise?

Sounds good. I'll play Terry - Wisdom - Hutton... (Clichy/Dummett)

Good transfer. I did it a couple of weeks back and left him on the bench on the weekend ....

Benteke and Baines > Bertrand and Kane.

I'm now awaiting 2 penalties for Everton and Villa to go wild.

Difficult to calculate true WC impact, I imagine!

I thought WC transfers weren't included in the rate for rising or falling?

          1. justgiving.com/JonnyChard
            11 years, 10 months ago

I mean for the prediction websites, made it look like more were due to rise/fall etc 🙂

            1. Clam. ☘️
              11 years, 10 months ago

So does that mean WC transfer aren't included?

              1. justgiving.com/JonnyChard
                11 years, 10 months ago

                WC transfers don't count towards a player rising/falling I don't believe 🙂
Prediction websites I don't think are able to as accurately portray a players potential rise/fall over the WC periods as I think they struggle more to establish exactly how many transfers in/out of a player are due to the WC, if you get me?

Bench downing, tripper or zabaleta this week?
Or transfer one of them for any player price not an issue?

  29. Clam. ☘️
    11 years, 10 months ago

Is Yaya to Sanchez the obvious transfer for me?
    Foster - Heaton
    Zaba - Terry - Naylor - Hutton - Yun
    Hazard - Yaya - Eriksen - Downing - Siggy
    Costa - Kane - Austin

Begovic and Foster rotation could be a beast for WC teams.

Wish Begovic was a little cheaper though...especially with Cameron sitting there at 4.2...

      Foster/Panti
