We delve into the Gameweek 20 data this evening and serve up some of the most impressive numbers from New Year’s Day. QPR, Swansea, Aston Villa and Man City’s strikers arrive under the radar, whilst we also cast an analytical eye over in-form midfielders from Spurs, Leicester and West Brom.

    Good Morning DZ.

Quick advise on who to bench from the below please!

    A) Zabaleta

    B) Hutton

      Bench Hutton I think.

    Wildcard effort below. Thoughts appreciated..

    Heaton Panti
    Cahill, Alde, Hutton, Lescott, Cameron
    Haz, Sanchez, Silva, Chadli
    RVP, Costa, Kane

4 at back? Looks good 🙂

      1. tommidee
        11 years, 9 months ago

nope - lineup for this week would be

        heaton
        cahill hutton lescott
        sanch silva haz chadz
        rvp costa kane

would usually start cahill and toby and rotate third def but keep 343

        1. Holmes
          11 years, 9 months ago

One of Hutton/Cameron will always be available as they rotate perfectly, so Lescott is just an expensive bench fodder imo.
          ------------
          Hutton-Cameron rotation:
lei, lei, QPR, new, hull, AVL, HULL, WBA, sun, CRP

          1. Fitzy.
            11 years, 9 months ago

But that's hardly perfect rotation, having to play them away so often.

            1. Holmes
              11 years, 9 months ago

Villa has kept clean sheets in away games. Not a fan of H/A rotation.

              1. tommidee
                11 years, 9 months ago

yeah could be a good shout but wb have decent fixtures which id prefer to some of those and 4.9 doesnt feel too expensive. could drop lescott to wisdom and upgrade cahill to terry but lescott seems most likely to survive under tp based on whats said here

              2. Fitzy.
                11 years, 9 months ago

If you're playing two defenders each week and rotating the third spot, you want to look for a 3 way rotation that gives you an easy home fixture each week, an occasional away game is sometimes unavoidable, but I wouldn't want to be playing a cheapie away 50% of the time.

                1. Holmes
                  11 years, 9 months ago

Cool, no problem. Everyone has their own taste 🙂 Just think Lescott is too expensive to rotate...

Yeah, and everything looks good on paper, but we know it won't go according to plan, so yeah, whatever feels right is probably right. 😉

I know it's against City, but surely Baines is still a better option than Trippier this week?

No Yaya, Aguero or Dzeko, City leaking goals and all it takes is 1 peno!

Also, Everton have only conceded an average of 1 goal at home to City over the past 4 years, including 2 clean sheets in 4.

Zaba -> Trippier/Baines for me (looking at the next 2 weeks only)

    1. tommidee

but that means half the time they're conceding two goals

        Yep, I believe it was:

        EVE 2:0 City
        EVE 1:0 City
        EVE 2:1 City

        3 wins from 4 isn't bad!

This season that might not even be true. So many cheap players performing better than their expensive rivals.

I made a team with a rule that it must have 10mil in the bank (So squad costing about 90m) and it has beaten my real team comfortably over the last 4 weeks 🙁

For those WCing late on, are you going GW23 or GW24, and what are your reasons?

For me it looks like GW23 is a no brainer. but I see a lot of people planning leaving it as late as possible, so interested to hear why.

Why is 23 a no brainer?

      1. Jinswick

        Main reasons being
        - 14 day period
        - Fixtures turning for a number of teams (ARS, MUN, SOT, SUN)
        - The likes of Aguero, Walcott etc should be back fit

I guess i dont really see the value in waiting till GW24

    3. Billy Gilmore

I'm doing it whenever it looks like the best time to buy Aguero.

23 - 2 weeks mean more time to play price rises (if any), easier fix if players get FAC injury, plus I don't think there'll be any significant January signing.

  28. NABIL - FPL otai
    11 years, 9 months ago

Remind me again why people are getting Lescott with their WC, and not Wisdom?

    Lescott - 4.9m, on 54 pts, 282 BPS (6 Bonus points)
    Wisdom - 4.4m, on 59 pts, 316 BPS (6 Bonus points)

I know the anticipated Pulis-effect might swing Lescott way, but he's not that big goal threat imo, unlike JT, unlike his EVE days. Plus 0.5m can do wonders in a WC team.

    Care to share some thoughts?

Lescott also offers a much bigger goal threat. Both are decent options imo (Wisdom owner)
