In a season where a number of budget forwards have more than held their own with premium-priced alternatives, QPR’s Charlie Austin has arguably been the pick of the bunch. Still kindly priced at 6.5 in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, he sits second amongst strikers on 109 points, sandwiched in between big-hitting pair Diego Costa and Sergio Aguero on the back of 13 goals and a trio of assists in just 20 top-flight appearances.

Over the last four Gameweeks, however, Austin’s Fantasy returns have afforded his owners cause for concern. The R’s top scorer has struck just once from Gameweek 19 onwards – compared to five strikes in his previous four appearances – and with plenty of similarly priced options jostling for our attentions, we delve into the data to assess Austin’s recent displays, comparing them to both his previous performances and fellow forwards alike.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

          It's not...

Strikers: Rooney Falcao RvP Wilson(Chica on loan, FFS)

CAM/wingers: AdM Mata Januzaj Val Young(Nani on loan, FFS)

          CM: Carrick Blind Fella Herrera

Def: Rafa Shaw Jones Smalling Rojo Evans

          GK: DDG Valdes

          FFS

        2. SW6
          11 years, 8 months ago

They have no reliable RB or CB. Cm is also pretty poor, Herrera looks ok I guess. Mata, Rooney, AdM, are all best in the same position, meaning two will always be out of where they're best.

          1. Not Irish
            11 years, 8 months ago

            1. Rafa and Jones should add up to one RB.
            2. Our CBs are only an issue due to fitness. I have full faith in Jones and Smalling when fit. But even so most top teams run out much the same or worse consistently.
            3. Rooney is a striker, Mata is pointless and AdM is a CM. If we'd just run players out in their proper positions shockingly our performances would improve.

            1. SW6
              11 years, 8 months ago

Rooney being played so deep is such a waste i agree..
Jones - Snalling/Rojo isn't close to Kompany - Mangala or Cahill Terry or Kosc Mert imo.

                11 years, 8 months ago

lol Mertesacker, Mangala and Cahill are sh!t. And Terry and Kompany are ridiculously overrated at this point. Only CB I'd like to have from either club is Zouma. Kos is classy but has the same injury issues our CBs do.

                1. Mr Pink

I'm sorry, "Terry and Kompany are ridiculouslu overrated". "I have full faith in Jones and Smalling". Those players should barely be playing in the same league.

    2. the axolotl
      11 years, 8 months ago

i think people need to realise that making a "good" team requires lots of things to all come together at the right time. and it's very difficult. money alone won't do it. even good players alone won't do it. what's weird is that LVG is still considered as a bit untouchable when moyes was so derided, with pretty much exactly same record, but with massive difference in spending. which must come down to media bias

To be fair, Leicester generally don't park the bus and go for it. Utd at home is a bit different too.

A mid-table L2 side parking the bus still shouldn't stop a strong United team from scoring

Thoughts on my WC team? this is so far the best I can come up with:

    Foster (Myhill)

Clyne, Terry, Koscielny (van Aanholt, Baird)

    Sánchez, Fábregas, Oscar, Eriksen (Marney)

    Giroud, Agüero, Kane
