The Premier League have confirmed the first double Gameweek of the season earlier this afternoon. QPR’s home clash against Spurs, which was originally scheduled for Sunday March 1, has been cancelled due to the latter’s progress to the Capital One Cup Final on the same day.

The date has now been moved to Saturday March 7, with both clubs already out of the FA Cup. This means that QPR and Spurs have a blank Gameweek 27 but then follow this up with a double Gameweek 28 – Spurs will host Swansea on Wednesday, March 4, before heading to Loftus Road three days later, whilst the R’s entertain Arsenal prior to playing host to their north London rivals.

Today’s news may persuade non-Tottenham owners to steer clear for now. Mauricio Pochettino’s side face West Brom, Arsenal, Liverpool and West Ham in the next four and with a blank to follow their Hammers showdown, it may well be that we turn our attentions away from the likes of Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen and Nacer Chadli until Gameweek 28, when the fixtures take a turn for the better.

Charlie Austin’s short-term prospects are also questionable. The travel-sick R’s face three road trips in four (sto, SOT, sun, hul) before their blank, and whilst his home clashes with Arsenal and Spurs may deter some, it’s worth noting he’s notched against four of the top five already this season and can clearly deliver regardless of fixture.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    Wait what, Sanchez injured too?

    Has anyone decided to now play their wildcard this week in light of the latest news, including Sanchez, Costa, Siggy and the confirmed double gameweek? Or are you still going ahead with doing it next week?

          Just too many unanswered questions for me like: Bellerin vs. Chambers and all those Arsenal mids.?, where will Bony fit in?, where will Kane play?, possible new signings?

        Why may i ask? injuries this week/most player gametime issues nearly resolved/DGW fixed.. what's left to warrant playing a weak side with a hit?

          I think it's a real close call now. Still yet to know about the CHE DGW and there are a few players I'm waiting to either return/confirm their starting roles before bringing them in (Bellerin, Aldy, Wally etc).

          I think if your bench is weak it makes sense to WC now. If it is ok (like I think mine is - see below) then I think there's an argument to wait. Sanchez may also still play - not like he's definitely been ruled out.

          Thoughts on my choice below Val?

            Strengthening my bench and keeping Sanchez.. Bellerin should start this week too.. it wont confirm anything. Chelsea DGW cant be in GW 28 cause of UCL.. and most have 2/3 Chelsea anyway

    A) Leave as is
    B) Costa -> Rooney/Falcao (4 points)
    C) Wildcard

    Was all set on A) until the Costa stamp and Sanchez news. Worth pressing the WC button a week early than planned?

    Is costa going to come up and say it was accidental leading to the panel discussing the verdict again with nothing more than the same video and Costa's word? I don't get it, it's not like a third party is making the revised decision

      I'm not sure but wasn't the original charge based upon the ref's decision to award a kind of post-match red card because he missed the incident during the game (and so has the right to say 'f I'd seen it I would have done x' - and therefore punishment is given based on the ref's decision) - and then wouldn't this appeal now be put to a panel of FA 'judges' to then discuss the ref's original (and singular) post-match decision... Might be wrong

    HI All

    Panti

    Jenko* Bertrand Cahill

    Boyd ADM Sanchez Hazard

    Giroud Austin Costa*

    Green; Hutton; Siggy*; Wisdom

    1 FT 1,2 ITB

    Now when Costa will be probably suspended i should activate a wildcard?

    Siggy->Ellia
    Cost-> ??? (someone for 1 week) and -> Aguero next week
    Jenko -> someone around 5.0
    also thinking to go Austin-> Defoe
    Or it will be crazy to go without Aguero

    And do Siggy-> Oscar
    Costa->Pelle
    Jenko-> Koscielny

    Thanks for comments ! 🙂

    Costa + Sanchez news - this is good for people who own Sanchez and not Costa.

    Some people will now be tempted to keep Costa on their wildcard. He will subsequently be banned and then they have to trade him out later.

    They might also be tempted not to get Sanchez because he won't play this weekend. Only out for one weekend and then back in the points.

    Keep the faith.

      Probably just to Willian. He's played central for Fiorentina because he's their most dangerous attacker, so they want to get him on the ball as much as possible.

      At Chelsea they'll play to his strengths without being so reliant on him - he can stretch the play and give them some proper width on the right, balancing out Hazard coming inside off the left. He's played most of his career at wing back, so Mourinho will feel he can get him to do the defensive work that Willian does so well, helping out Ivanovic, but he also offers a much more dynamic and potent threat than Willian - should give them even more of a cutting edge.

    Sanchez - Sterling - Hazard - (Boyd, Downing)
    Costa - Austin - Kane

    I am wildcarding, who do I keep, who do I get? Would love Cuadrado if he signs for Chelsea and Paulista but is it too early to get transfered players? Thanks in advance! 🙂
