The Premier League have confirmed the first double Gameweek of the season earlier this afternoon. QPR’s home clash against Spurs, which was originally scheduled for Sunday March 1, has been cancelled due to the latter’s progress to the Capital One Cup Final on the same day.

The date has now been moved to Saturday March 7, with both clubs already out of the FA Cup. This means that QPR and Spurs have a blank Gameweek 27 but then follow this up with a double Gameweek 28 – Spurs will host Swansea on Wednesday, March 4, before heading to Loftus Road three days later, whilst the R’s entertain Arsenal prior to playing host to their north London rivals.

Today’s news may persuade non-Tottenham owners to steer clear for now. Mauricio Pochettino’s side face West Brom, Arsenal, Liverpool and West Ham in the next four and with a blank to follow their Hammers showdown, it may well be that we turn our attentions away from the likes of Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen and Nacer Chadli until Gameweek 28, when the fixtures take a turn for the better.

Charlie Austin’s short-term prospects are also questionable. The travel-sick R’s face three road trips in four (sto, SOT, sun, hul) before their blank, and whilst his home clashes with Arsenal and Spurs may deter some, it’s worth noting he’s notched against four of the top five already this season and can clearly deliver regardless of fixture.

    http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/20150129/team-news-pre-aston-villa-updates

does the lack of mention of Walcott mean it's business as usual (recently) where Walcott gets 20-30 at the end of the match or him being fine to start? he looked good in the cup and has already started two matches recently (just neither in the PL)

      It's just no change.

He is fit, and free from injury, but he is slightly off full match fitness.

He could start against Villa, and I think he will.

a start vs Villa would indicate a return to the starting line up in general then, no?

No, because of injuries to Sanchez, Ox and Welbeck. We need some pace in the lineup, and with those 3 potentially missing I think he'll start, but they are all back imminently.

do you think he'll never recover (barring injury) an every-match starting spot and will always be rotated given their options in mid?

I think he will be a starter when he has returned to form, but I think he's a long way off that at the moment. Not easy when you have been out for so long.

so (and thanks for entertaining all my Arsenal questions) then Caz isn't just a template pick but the most sensible one for foreseeable future

how long do you think it will be before he loses his CAM spot? or loses a starting spot altogether? I'm just really interested in him until at most Arsenal's nice 6 fixtures pass and even when wide he'll still be on set pieces and pens..

Cazorla has been immense for us. I think he could reasonably hold the central role for the rest of the season.

Wenger mentioned explicitly how Cazorla had been thriving in central areas, so I don't see him moving him.

The fact that he has taken penalties off Giroud is also good.

always helps to have an actual fan plead each players' case..cheers for that..my only worry was Caz might lose his spot altogether to rotation but if you're fairly confident he may even hold the central role regularly then that's encouraging

    Austin: 20 starts, 13 goals
    Berahino: 21 starts, 9 goals
    Kane:18 starts, 8 goals
    Ings:19 starts, 7 goals
    Gayle:17 starts, 13 goals

Not sure the validity of this stat but I feel as though Gayle is under the radar in terms of media attention. Still...I feel more safe owning Kane. Spurs look to be firing on all cylinders.

Also I'd like to note that Gayle apparently played LW last game apparently.

If they're going to hammer anyone it will be Leicester. Yeah will be typical that Mata gets all the points this weekend. ADM will have pretty high ownership in top 10k by the weekend though I think, don't want to risk going without him.

No room for Theo, Kos, Sanchez, Giroud. Was about 30k until last GW then I failed to score 30 and dropped like a stone

Just got that one midfield slot to fill, draft is

                    Panti, Mannone

                    Kos, Jones, Wollschied, Naughton, Lescott

                    Sanchez, Hazard, Puncheon, Moses

                    Aguero, Giroud, Defoe

Got 10.1 for that last mid

Have 2 FTs. Looks like Siggy and Costa out, have enough cover for Sanchez. Snow is the other factor.

Yup. This is the time of year the makes or breaks a lot of people. Generally the more experience players come out on top through proper planning.

I just want to share my pain with you all. I've had an infection in the gum area surrounding my left lower wisdom tooth since Monday afternoon. I haven't been able to close my teeth in three days. My antibiotics (which means zero alcohol consumption) aren't working, so I have another appointment with the dentist tomorrow at 8am to get a second batch of antibiotics. I've been swishing warm salty water around my mouth every two hours (you don't think that's unpleasant? Just ask a prostitute). I've been eating nothing but soup, porridge and yoghurt, but am only able to open my jaw wide enough to get in very small amounts - I've been constantly hungry. Having not slept at all on Monday night, I now wake up every couple of hours needing more pain killers. My left cheek has swollen so much that, independently, two of my colleagues (yes, I'm still going to work) have said I look like Marlon Brando's Godfather.

In positive news, the soup diet means I'm achieving my five a day.

Feel for you, nasty that. I've been given Metronidazole before and it hasn't worked so I'd ask for Amoxycillin (so long as you're not allergic to penicillin). You can drink on that too, unlike with Metro.

Clove oil can help a bit but it does stink a bit. Don't use it around other people 🙂

      1. AIRMILES
        • 14 Years
        11 years, 2 months ago

Nice one. Thanks. Yes, I'm on Metro. A colleague of mine said the same thing about Amoxy working when Metro doesn't. And when I called the dentist today, the receptionist said the same thing. Don't know why they didn't just give me both in the first place.

Tried clove oil on advice of another colleague, but it's meant just for the teether rather than the gums. Indeed does stink, thought I might suffocate!

        1. Reedy
          • 15 Years
          11 years, 2 months ago

Yeah I dunno why that push that Metro stuff. Apparently it does work well for those it works for, but it is annoying not being able to drink on it.

If you're taking paracetamol that should start kicking in soon - it's slow release so you don't think it's doing anything for the first few days. Ibuprofen helps with the swelling.

Good luck anyway - been there and it's not nice!

    Terry Clyne #Tomkins
    #Sanchez Hazard Chadli ADM
    Aguero Kane #Costa

    Subs: Foster, Wisdom, Lucas, #Bruce
