We delve into the Gameweek 23 data this evening in our first members article of the week. Liverpool’s flourishing attack, Southampton’s misfiring frontman, Angel Di Maria’s eye for goal and Eden Hazard’s worrying home form are all on our radar.

    Play Krul or Foster

and two out of Clyne, Wisdom and van Aanholt.

    Is Cuadrado better than Schurrle?

Today Fifa Interactive World Cup 2014 Grand Final competitor David Bytheway and Football Manager expert Alex Stewart on BBC :

"Cuadrado is a popular player on Fifa 15 because he's extremely fast and has five star skill moves which is up there with the likes of Neymar and Ronaldo. Schurrle is a useful player because he has decent pace and is always a threat around the box due to his good shooting stats. Both players trade even blows in the attacking and technical department and are both great attacking options but it's the defensive work that separates them.

"Cuadrado's defensive stats are substantially better than Schurrle's. His marking is 54 which is 31 ratings better than Schurrle's dismal 23. It's not just the marking he wins in, his standing and sliding tackle stats are 25 and 23 ratings better which makes it an easy win for Cuadrado."

Yup, definitely what Mourinho used to ponder over the move..FIFA and FM
I don't think he really gave Schurrle a shot

        That's really not true.

Schuerrle had 3 problems this season:

        1. The World Cup win went to his head. Up until a few weeks ago he was still tweeting about it and in his most recent interview with Chelsea TV he was still referring to it.
        2. He has had a viral illness which took some time to recover from. Then, when fit again, he played pretty poorly whenever put in the team. He just wasn't giving us an option.
        3. He thinks of himself as an attacker and hasn't learned to cover the defensive aspect required of his position in Chelsea's system. Hazard does it (and does it well) so there was no excuse for Schuerrle really.

The bottom line is that both the club and the manager thought highly of him and wanted him to come good. Jose thought he was "the most clinical finisher at the club". But we desperately needed someone that could come in and allow Hazard, Oscar or Willian to get an occasional rest. That's what Cuadrado's for and he's ready made because he'll do all the team defence work as well as having great technical talent and pace.

Filip Đuričić is another erm... 'bold' signing by Southampton.

He was very promising indeed in the Eredivisie for Heerenveen, and looked well-positioned to make the leap to a bigger league. But he failed to convince both for Benfica and Mainz, who felt that his wages and loan fee didn't justify Đuričić's very meagre returns on the pitch.

Looks like another player in the mould of Elia, whom Koeman has good memories of from the Eredivisie and whose careers he reckons he can salvage.

I bet Hummels doesn't even have five skill stars.

    Do. Not. Want.

    Panti - Krul
    Ivan - Clyne - BERTRAND - Wisdom - Wasilewski

    Should I replace Bertrand with:

    A. premium DEF - the likes of P.Jones, Zaba, Kompany, Koscielny
    or
    B. some cheapo to rotate with other 2 cheapos - most likely one of PvA, Wollscheid. Bellerin

    ??

He does a lot of selfless work and adds real balance to the side, he allows others to do a little less tracking back themselves than if he wasn't in the side.

ok, maybe I'll look at him harder next time.
All I ever see is a guy dribbling nowhere fast and losing the ball as a result.
