Don't forget Koeman had him at Feyenoord last season where he was prolific. If you look the stats up you'll find that the number of shots he's getting per game is similar this season to last but his shooting accuracy is way down. That's something that may well correct itself.

Personally I'd expect him to get on a run of goals soon. And he's not bad value at 7.8.

        1. Camp No No
          • 12 Years
          11 years, 3 months ago

Or then he is getting less good chances, less time and space, and thus cannot get his shots on target.

Don't forget that last season he played for a dominant team in the league of weak defences and before that only managed to score 1 goal in his whole Serie A career.

Well, why not Dzeko as suggested below? Or how about one of the West Ham strikers? Or Choupo-Moting from Schalke. Or break the bank for Dybala or Icardi from Italy. Or Depay from PSV.

The point is, there is a thousand strikers better than Pelle and that is costing them points.

I know, I completely agree. I don't think that Pelle is good enough, as much as I love the lad. Just think it is difficult for Southampton to attract real world class centre forwards.

            • 12 Years

Doesn't need to be world class. Just 'class' is enough. And they are able to seriously compete for a CL place, that should attract some.

They might not really compete for CL place next season with EL duties and Schneiderlin leaving, so this really is the window. Too bad they make such garbage shopping.

Kos, Hazard and Aguero are okay.

Mannone is dropped, but Panti will come on.

Sanchez is injured, but Defoe will come on, although he is a punt really.

Walcott, Moses, Puncheon and Pelle are all punts too.

There are some points amongst Naughton, Lescott, Jones, Wollschied but not many.

Am I the only one not feeling the Silva love? You'd imagine we'll see a 4-4-2 with Jov or Dzeko soon so that surely dents his appeal. Sure he had the fixtures but he's never been a prolific FPL player. Better options elsewhere imo.

Lennon to Everton is happening now apparently.

    Hmmm. He can run anyway.

Lennon at 6.2m, I would assume he plays every week. Might be a decent option

Sorry, nothing against the Hammers, but it's just wrong that you reported Sakho unable to travel to ACON and then played him.

Is this because he supposedly pulled a sickie for AFCON?

Yet players miss international games all the time through fake injuries and aren't reprimanded. No consistency.

Fake injuries, yes, but they do not play during the time when they would be in international duty had they not reported sick.

He will also be banned for three matches if it is found that he declined to answer the call up. I don't know if that applies if it was the club pressing him to stay.

Hmmm. I really would support this is they were very strict about players faking injuries. I know it's different because he played but it seems like this is an attitude that a lot of young players learn early on and FIFA allow it to happen.

There's little FIFA can do if the players don't play for club either during that time.

Perhaps if they train? Seems harsh I know but it is a complete joke at the moment.

Maybe. But I'd suppose they usually really get rest and only light training (that they could suffer with the injury) during that time.

If they are found out to have really denied the national duty, there's a three match ban reserved for them in the rules.

Interesting, I didn't know that rule, cheers for the lesson CM 😀

Aye it is tough I know, I just feel the culture out there at the moment is to skip national duty as frequently as possible and I'm certain a lot of clubs encourage it.

love ivan but why not terry?? Surely terry is a safer bet, nailed on for both matches?

JT 100% to play both. Ivan 95%. Jose rarely rests Ivan in a PL game unless the schedule has been really tough.

Agree with this. Terry can be rested sometime too, and despite his goals has less attacking threat than Ivan.

went with JT, need the reliability of a che def playing both games, cant see jose resting the captain with 6 points for grabs

No he's priced just right imo. I like him but I don't think he'll ever be an option with Haz, Cesc and even Oscar there, not to mention defenders and Costa.

    Hi All,

I have one FT available but can't decide how to use it.

my midfield is currently: Santi, silva, ADM, hazard, boyd
my strikers are: Kun, Kane, ings

with the money I have available I can bring in any midfielder for one of the others bar Boyd but I could also bring in giroud for ings and leave the midfield as it is. any ideas?
