The weekend cup defeat by in-form Liverpool may have paused Palace’s recent momentum but the narrow 2-1 reverse means Alan Pardew can now concentrate solely on Premier League matters. After producing three wins and a draw in five top-flight matches since their new manager rolled up to Selhurst Park last month, the Eagles now sit five points clear of the drop zone with 13 rounds of fixtures remaining.

Bearing in mind that Palace managed just three wins in their first 20 league outings prior to Pardew’s installation, it’s fair to say their form is very much on the up. With that in mind, we turn to the latest addition to our members section – the Team Profiles and Comparison Tool – to assess the impact of the former Newcastle boss as he looks to replicate Tony Pulis’ 2013/14 heroics and steer Palace to safety. These tools allow us to pinpoint any areas of improvement and/or issues of concern, in addition to highlighting the players who have benefitted most of all.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Here are my plans for the next three game weeks.

    My goals are to:
    - Have a full playing team for GW27 (Baird excepted?) - ie only 3 Chelsea/Spurs in total
    - No point hits (could be persuaded for a defender like Rose perhaps)
    - Maximise Chelsea/Spurs in GW28 without overdoing it and hurting my GW29 onwards

    Moves:
    GW26 : Save transfer
GW27 : Oscar to Mane to: free up money for Costa purchase, have 11 players on the park, Mane same price as Downing for swap in a few weeks
GW28: Giroud to Costa, DiMaria to Eriksen
    or
GW28: Mane to Fabregas, DiMaria to Eriksen

    GW28 Team:

    Panti (hul)
Azpi (whu/LEI) Fonte (CRY) Bellerin (qpr)
Sanchez (qpr) Eriksen (SWA/qpr) Hazard (whu/LEI) Mane (CRY)
    Costa (whu/LEI) Aguero (LEI) Kane (SWA/qpr) (C)

Bench: Krul (MUN) Walters (EVE) Jones (new) Baird (avl)

Good thinking imo, hope no injuries or suspensions will hinder your plans. Forget Rose - he's not even sure to start both matches. Costa over Fabs in GW28.

    Foster
    PvA Azpi Clyne
    ADM Ozil Sanchez Hazard

    Would you change anything? Cheers

thnx. fixture wise stoke via wolls is better bet, but player fr player dawsonn has that Goal threat + he even can get an odd assist as he did recently.
just not so sure on the CS potential against sou 2nd game. still dawson for the goal threat instead of the potential for CS for stoke next 2?

He's not remotely good enough. Not that that means he won't start. But I'm not sure you want him to. I hope he sits the bench the rest of the season as we're hurting ourselves and he's taking time away from our proper players.

    1. Walsh
      • 12 Years

To be fair, if you got Zouma and Bellerin as your 4th and 5th defenders on the WC you're in good shape. It's when people are getting them to be their 3rd and 4th with Baird as the 5th...there is the trouble. Always just a matter of picking the right cheapies and not having to over rely on them in your squad structure. It also wouldn't be hurting everyone so much right now without this blank in 28 and people not being able to field a full lineup in 27.

      1. Not Irish
        • 12 Years

Yeah Baird is my only dead defender and I'm really not too worried about it as I'll be bringing Ivan in for him before the DGW. 😎

No I know you were, just pointing out two budget types who have come across these past few weeks unscathed. I certainly would have both of them, again, if they are the 4th and 5th defenders in the squad.

Always did Doosra. Logic demands the cheapest defender in a side will often be the rotation risk or first to make way for someone else.

Indeed Doosra, indeed. Sadly got Wisdom on the WC which is just a nuisance as it's an extra hurdle and transfer before the DGW, still content with Bellerin and Zouma for now. Worst case scenario, I WC Gw33-5 and be done with them when a DGW approaches again. I think the value they give my side is outstanding and also provide me a great frontline. You're right though, the value players and cheapies tend to be the ones most prone to rotation. Lesson learned on risking backline capital for an investment up top.

I'm pretty sure his place has gone for me. Kane is my cheap striker. Defoe to make way for Costa is what I'm looking at for any double.

        • 12 Years

Yeah I guess it's dependent on if Chelsea have their double in 28. If they do, Costa has to come in, but if not, that leaves a little spot for a short term whirl with Austin for the double. He's been off the boil so the Hull game will be an important indicator but he has a pretty explosive points for a differential possibility for the double as it seems like very few will be with him. Tough fixtures but they are at home at least.

I guess we'll have to just wait for pressers. It's a pain as I ideally want Austin/Costa in his spot for their DGWs but if he's out we'll have to use an extra transfer to get rid of him and THEN get Austin or Costa 🙁

Recon you are right. 10 playing with 4 double gw players in hand or having some stoke/ newcastle defender in, using a transfer and scoring a 2 pointer.

😯 Not sure Inns, and I'm on the same track but with Sanchez instead of Costa. I'm assuming you're captaining as well no? It could be a great move mate, albeit risky obviously depending on how mnay blank players you've got.

      1. President John F. Keninnsie
        • 12 Years

I probably would captain him if I got him in. Risky indeed but if Defoe is out then I'll be very tempted as it'll save me from spending an extra transfer on that striker spot.

Aha, that is a great option then in your situation, IMO. It's a like-for-like trannie for sure, one potentially injured player out for a top captaincy option Gw26 and a subsequent blank. Then a newly designated spot left-mid spot for Silva whose appeal for FPL may be dented with less goal threat after Bony and YYT come back this w/e -- vs Mane, playing for an in-form and rejuvenated attack with great goal threat to back him and fixtures to boot.

I'd shoot the sh!te there Inns, IMO. One to ponder for sure and if Costa is captained and has a subsequent double digit haul, it could make way for some serious differential and headway in the rankings.

Also to add, perhaps a move to Sturridge may also be in works...

This is my data from a few weeks ago:

      C.Dawson: 0.152
      Baird*: 0.143
      Lescott: 0.142
      McAuley*/Wisdom: 0.138
      Pocognoli: 0.115

That was with Dawson playing CB though so those numbers will probably change with him at RB.

Both are solid options Inns, Mane being the outstanding goal threat of the two and Siggy being the better bet for creative potential and is also on FK's (may even have pens if Gomis is out, but that's stretching it). Mane would be my pick , but both have great fixtures in the next 6 and some of Siggy's stats are skewed after his role in the CM when Ki was out.

Swans - (MUN, bur, tot, LIV, avl, HUL)
Saints - (LIV, wba, CRY, che, BUR, eve)

They both have great attacking fixtures and both teams are up there in the ticker for the next six from an attacking perspective at least.

DZ.....Struggling with this......anyone thinking about getting Austin for DGW rather than Costa? This will allow for an extra DGW player?

    for DGW:

    With Austin: Terry/Haz/Fab/Erik/Kane (C)/Austin
    Without: Terry/Haz/Costa/Erik/Kane (C)

If you are set on giving the armband to Kane for the DGW....is Costa really that essential? The decision comes down to:

    Austin & Cesc OR Costa.....?????

    What do you think?

yep thinking about that but better to re assess after seeing him play Stoke. May also means Costas price rises too much to get him in later.

Think we need to know that Chelsea actually will have a DGW in 28 first.

Opinions last night were ranging from 15% yes to 80% yes, based on various factors. Would need to be agreed to by both squads and would produce a brutal DGW for Leicester
