Fantasy Football Scout is pleased to announce two new Fantasy Premier League cup competitions which are set to take place over the season run-in. First of all, we roll out the eleventh instalment of our open-to-all cup competition, sponsored by Paddy Power. This is your chance to join our previous winners – donnellyc, Jonty, Gribude, Goonerdave, Ninja_Fit_Saints, sleepingmaster, Mch, Wild Rover, Tdubb05 and our reigning champion CMIFLFC in our hall of fame.

We’ve also opened entry for the fifth instalment of the Fantasy Football Scout Members Cup, as Trigg looks to defend his title. Fuzzy Dunlop, Kippax Kikkers and Acquafresca were our other previous winners of this tournament.

If you’re familiar with our competitions you can get your entries in right now via the links below. If you’re new to all this, read on for an FAQ on the competitions.

Enter the Paddy Power XI Cup via the entry form here.

Members can also enter the Members Cup V via this entry form.

How do the cup competitions work?

Our cup competitions are very similar to the Fantasy Premier League’s Fantasy Cup game. Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores). In the event of a tie, the manager highest in the overall standings will progress.

When do they start?

The qualifying rounds for both cups will take place in Gameweek 28, with the first rounds running on Gameweek 29.

Fantasy managers can enter their teams from now right up to Wednesday March 11, when we’ll stop entry and will be drawing the first round ties from the qualifiers.

There will be 512 qualifiers for the members cup and 1024 for the Paddy Power Cup XI – depending on the number of entries. All our previous winners gain a bye into the first round draw where they will join the top scorers from Gameweek 28.

FPL standing will decide who progresses in the event of tied positions. The same rules apply in the Members Cup

How do I enter?

Enter the Paddy Power XI Cup via the entry form here.

Members can also enter the Members Cup V via this entry form.

In both cases you will be sent a confirmation email to verify your entry and you’ll be asked to confirm your FPL team id at the point of entry – please be sure to click the link to verify that your team is correct before confirming.

To check that you’re entered correctly, please scan the list of current entries.

The Paddy Power Cup XI entry list can be found here.

The Members Cup entry list can be found here.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the qualifying rounds of both cups will be published on or around March 11 and then weekly from that point on.

What is the Gameweek Schedule?

These Cup competitions will be played out according to the following Gameweek schedule:

The fixture list for each round of both cups will be published a day or two before each Gameweek deadline.

Are there prizes?

Prizes will be announced in a follow up article.

Do I have to enter if I’m previous winner?

Yes, because your FPL team ID will have changed, we will need to record you entry again. As a previous winner, you will be given a bye to the first round proper.

Do I need to be registered with Fantasy Football Scout?

We ask you to supply a FFScout username so we can feature you, as a member of our community, in any articles associated with the tournament. Ideally, you will already have a username with us but this is not essential to enter (although it is for the Members Cup) – you must, however, supply a username for the purpose of the tournament so you can be identified in articles. You must not change this username throughout the course of the tournament, should you do so without permission, or should you enter multiple teams or if your FFS account comes under moderation for any reason, we reserve the right to remove you from a tournament.

Can't stand that Walters is popular - honest but dreadfully limited, an example of the poor standard of players outside the top 6-8 teams. Miss Bojan who looked like Messi when playing.

Way away all weekend and not had a chance to watch MOTD or catch up with footy gossip. So can someone please tell me:

    1) Eriksen - why did he not start? Surely we can expect him to start both of the DGW? Thinking of getting him in

    2) PVA - same question for him, I assumed he was 'almost' locked on? Do we think he will get back in the team?

    3) Bellerin - injured for Palace game (I think) so back in XI for next game?

      1. Spurs have a lot of games in upcoming games, noone know who'll start in DGW but I guess Erik is quite likely to be there (not as likely as Kane/Verthongen/Lloris tho)
      2. Benched and Reve played really well. I think PVA will start on bench again.
      3. He's probably still first choice with Debuchy injured so I guess he should start.

      1) Eriksen will be fine for the DGW
      2) Be worried. 60/40 he's lost his place.
      3) Yes I think so.

In light off Clichy's sending off and suspension from the Barca away leg, how many of the next 3 prem games do you expect him to start?

Surely he will start the Burnley game in GW29 with Kolarov in for Barcelona on the Wednesday, but what about GW27 and GW28?

    1. sdoobycoo

Sagna has started 3 times this season. Kolarov will play vs Barca surely? Either way, whoever is in line to play vs Barca will surely get some game time before then to keep them sharp...

All good HVT. Just been getting all the 50-50s wrong, Terry over Ivan, Bertrand over Clyne, Walcott over Cazorla etc etc. Don't really care where I finish up now, I'm just gonna try get some enjoyment back out of the game 🙂

If I might be so bold...

Rushing to get Aguero back in for GW 22, holding on to Sanchez when injured and Bertrand when suspended has really hurt you. You have a high TV - you don't need to worry about losing the odd 0.2 or 0.3 here or there. I think if you followed your own judgement rather than tracking other people's moves you'd still be in the top 1k.

Unsolicited advice I know but no offence intended.

I sold Sanchez when he was injured. Got him back for the Leicester game though. And the reason I kept Bertrand was because PVA had 3 good fixtures in the games he missed, but that didn't work out too well in the end. In hindsight I should've played the last few weeks differently but I guess it's too late now. Thanks Ruth.

Ah well. Just I have the impression you are a good guy so I wanted to offer something even at the possible risk of it being misinterpreted.

If you cut loose from here on in you can easily finish top 500. You can't have more than 50 or 60 points to make up. That's quite easily done if you can spot when most of the top 1000 are making the same mistake and do something better.

Here's one for you... Aguero captain in GW 28 instead of Kane. 😉

I'll put it here for you now because it's fresh in my mind, I have been looking at it today.

City generate almost double the shots in the box per 90 as Spurs. Kane has been scoring from everywhere but that won't continue forever. Spurs are playing 4 games in 9 days and will be mentally and physically tired by the DGW. At home to Leicester, City could easily generate as many good chances as Spurs will in their two games.

Add to that the fact that Kane is quite unlikely to play 90 in both DGW games. I can't see Poch leaving him out on Thursday or in the LC Final on Sunday. Whereas Aguero will be fresh and City have a weekend free after the Leicester game so no need to sub him out.

Put all that together and there's a very good chance that Aguero outscores Kane that week. Possibly by a big margin.

Same here really on those 50/50s tho 4 greens/5reds
I've kept Sanchez all the way and ignored Caz/Ozil
I sold Bertie > Bellerin 3pts maybe when I should have just went Clyne when I could afford.
I kept Wisdom too last week when Dawson was the obvious move in an effort to save a ft?
Went Marney over Boyd for this week in the jan Wc.
I too went Terry over Ivan
BUT my front 6 have saved me
                Haz/Silva/Adm/(Sanchez)/Aguero/Kane/Giroud
                2.3k and hanging in there!
The only way is up Innsie!

Help! 2FT and £2.3m in the bank. 4 of my XI this week didn't start last week so I'm in a bit of trouble, although we can expect Bellerin to prob come back in? Wisdom>someone is the obvious first move, maybe need to use both transfers though...

    Foster
    Clyne Bellerin* Clichy* PVA*
    Sanchez(c) Silva Cazorla Ameobi*
    Aguero Defoe

    Bench - Wisdom, (Hazard, Kane)

Bellerin is relatively safe as far I know, I'd stick with him.
Wisdom out for sure, Lescott? I'd stick with PvA until pressers, pretty sure Poyet is pretty straight forward, so he should confirm any news.

No not a whole lot Spectrum, I've spoken to one in particular that does and he feels he got a hard time for mentioning it on here. Still tho he felt he may have handled it wrong seems we all make mistakes but has he done only what many others are doing?
Difference is he highlighted it on here and put himself under the microscope and compounded it with some earlier shenanigans.
We all make mistakes, there's a time for forgiveness-the telegraph game gets too much bad press IMO and I'm gonna drop the campaign after tonight, it's just a 1-day thing spectrum, thanks.

How many FT and £ in bank? Good team IMO and similar to mine, except with less problems lol.

I'd keep 2FT for next so you can do Defoe>Austin and Cazorla>Eriksen. Alternatively, work a way to get Costa back in for GW28. Either way, your squad is in good nick so seems obvious to make sure you have 2FT next week

Got 2FT and 1.4m in the bank, they were my planned transfers for next week so good to have that reassured.

Makes sense to play safe and just get rid of PVA then?

I'd say that looks sound. Wait for news on Alderweireld and get him for PVA if he looks to start? Or could just get someone cheap, your defence is good as long as Bellerin gets his place back after coming back from injury.

Your team is annoying cos it's basically mine with 2 or 3 of my problems fixed. Ameobi>Boyd, Wisdom>Wolly and Clichy>Terry and that's my exact squad lol

Toby is a very good option - think there is a lot of value in him.

Also looking at Dawson at WBA for a double up.

Maybe Haidara to cheapen the defence up a bit. Wouldnt need to play him a huge amount.

Really hoping Wenger sees sense with Belerin - CHambers looked awful at the weekend

Depends on what you want to do with Austin after DGW - do you plan to get Costa back at some point? Toby is best option IMO but it's almost like you don't need him with your defence strong already lol

Care to give me your thoughts on my team?

Help! 2FT and £2.3m in the bank. Those asterixed potential non-starters, although we hope Bellerin will.

                        Foster
                        Clyne Bellerin* Clichy* PVA*
                        Sanchez(c) Silva Cazorla Ameobi*
                        Aguero Defoe

                        Bench - Wisdom, (Hazard, Kane)

Think Clichy will start next couple because of sending off in Europe so wouldnt worry about him. Bellerin also should start.

I would be getting rid of Wisdom first - doesnt look like getting his place back anytime soon. PVA may just have been rested or rotated - we need more info on him.

Same players as you recommended for me I would say - Toby if fit maybe.

Ameobi can wait a week. Only use one transfer this week.

Captain is a tough one - pick one of Sanchez, Aguero or Czorla I would say and see what happens.

Think you knew all of this though as I feel I am just giving the same advice you gave me haha

Well obv I knew I have to get rid of Wisdom first, the question is for who - like you say maybe Toby, but also Wolly or Dawson?

Even if I do that though, and Bellerin starts as we expect him to, I will still only be able to field 10 or even 9!

If I had to guess, Bellerin and Clichy should start but PVA and Ameobi won't. Which would be fielding 10 if I replace Wisdom with someone

Not stupid no. Has scored a few assists recently, Sunderland a good team to build on those. Still think Aguero will score though.

Long story, my campaign (short) I've decided not to get into it now,
I just felt the Telegraph fantasy football sight got too much bad press pops.
