This lunchtime, we’re updating you on those players who are just one mistimed tackle or display of dissent away from a two-match ban. At present, four players – Gareth Barry, Phil Bardsley, Lee CattermoleΒ  andΒ Neil Taylor – are on the precipice with nine yellow cards to their nameΒ and will be tiptoeing their way towards the April 12 cut-off date.

Eagle-eyed readers may haveΒ noticed the omission of Jack Colback from our suspension shortlist – much to manager John Carver’s ire, the Newcastle midfielder picked up the crucial tenth yellow for throwing the ball away in frustration after being pulled up for a foul during Saturday’s 5-0 hammering at City. The 25-year-old’s ill-discipline means he’ll sit out home ties against Aston Villa and Manchester United

Gareth Barry served a one-match suspension by missing Everton’s encounter with Leicester City and will now needΒ to time his tackles perfectly if selected to face Arsenal’s elusive forwards next weekend. Meanwhile, Lee Cattermole returned for Sunderland following a six-match injury break, giving the no-nonsense midfielder the near-implausible task of refraining from any rash challenges for sixΒ Gameweeks.

With no new additions to the nine-yellow club, Blues duo Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas remain the most high-profile candidates just two slip-ups away from a spell on the sidelines. Southampton and Aston Villa have the most representation – with four each – among those players needing three yellows or fewer to topple off the tightrope.

In terms of players serving out suspensions, Joey Barton and Nemanja Matic both face three-match bans on the grounds of violent conduct, with the latter reacting to a dangerous tackle from Burnley’s Ashley Barnes. Upon further review, the FA decided not to take any further action against the Clarets’ forward, citing the fact that referee Martin Atkinson witnessed the incident as justification for sticking with the on-field decision. Nonetheless, Chelsea are reportedly set to appeal Matic’s ban.

Elsewhere, Ron Vlaar was given his marching orders after being shown a second yellow card for hauling down Stoke City’s Victor Moses in the penalty box last weekend, meaning he’ll sit out Aston Villa’s Gameweek 27 clash away to Newcastle United. Likewise, West Ham’s Morgan Amalfitano will play no part his team’s upcoming London derbies against Palace and Chelsea, having seen straight red in the Hammers’ 4-0 FA Cup defeat to West Brom.

Finally, Southampton welcome Ryan Bertrand back into the fold for their match-up with the Baggies next weekend – the former Chelsea left-back sat out the third and final match of his suspension during Sunday’s home loss to Liverpool.

    In trouble this week:

    Baird to Dawson
    Shaw to Bertrand
    Terry to Naughton
    Walcott to Siggy.

All for minus 8 to get 11 out?

      Noooooo
First two only and play 9 imo
      Then walcott→eriksen for dgw

Everyone on my bench for next week has a star next to their name. Is that a good move? Some kind of super sub maybe. I know if I was looking at a fruit machine right now I would be in the money.

Which is, in your opinion, the best mid below 5.3 to have in next, let's say 6 weeks?

Walters, Moses, Shelvey, Ki, Mahrez, Sinclair, Gil, Bolasie, Jedinak, Bentaleb or Dembelé?

You missed elmonhanady. Hull have some great fixtures coming up and fighting to avoid relegation.

    A) Play 10 players this GW and have 2 FT next GW
    or
    B) Play 11 players (one player being 4.4m bench fodder) and have 1FT next GW

Drop Boyd or Puncheon to bring in Moses or Mane?

    Or keep both?

      Puncheon

        This

  6. Bubz

    Panti
    Kosc, Jones
    Sanchez, Walcott, ADM, Cork
    Aguero, Defoe

    Baird*, PVA* (Ivanovic, Hazard, Kane)

I have 2FT's but want to save one of them. 0.0 in the bank. I'm thinking, rather than transferring Baird or PVA to somebody crap (would have to be 4.2 or less), I might transfer out Ivanovic to Bertrand/Clyne, bench Baird, and just play PVA hoping for the best.

    Thoughts/other ideas?

I have to say I'm keen on the idea of losing Ivan but with nothing in the bank you have limited options.

I like Pool defence (Skrtel) atm but obviously a terrible week to be buying one of them

Ivan has certainly served me well and it is not ideal to get rid. With a blank, West Ham, then Southampton and no Matic, I feel like it might be best to just move him on and look to bring him back closer to GW34..

          Yeah, sounds like a plan

i also like Chelsea defence less without Matic

Thoughts on mine on the new post?

I would just lose one of the cheapies myself. You will want the Chelsea players soone enough as their fixtures are good. Ivan has been particularly good recently

There's nobody to transfer them to though due to my 0 funds ITB πŸ™

I did adjust my funds a bit last week to avoid that predicament. There must be a starter somewhere for 3.9

Why remove Ivan he is in form...just remove 1 of the 2 defender

Who is worth buying at 4.2M or less?

          Nauhgton?, McShane

Naughton is 4.3 sadly. I'm not keen on bringing in Bruce or McShane as either are nailed and a headache waiting to happen. Not to mention Hull have kept one clean sheet in their last 15 away matches.

true..but no point keeping 4.2 player who will only start if some player get injured..

How many DGW's can we look forward to because of the Qatar world cup. Doesn't hurt to prepare now does it?

Ok, guys, so looks like I'll have to make a very dull transfer from Schlupp to a Stoke defender this week

Any news why Pieters went off on 85? Just back from injury, or injured again? Just seems a better option than Wooly
