After running through the prime cuts on offer at the back on Wednesday, the focus shifts to the midfield this evening as we roll out our latest Watchlist rankings, offering player recommendations for the next four-to-six Gameweeks. There is no shifting the in-form Eden Hazard and David Silva from the summit, though Juan Mata’s brace at Anfield sees the Spaniard launch himself back into our short-to-mid term thinking, along with, wait for it, Marouane Fellaini….

Having averaged 7.1 points per appearance over Chelsea’s last seven league matches and with a strong upcoming schedule (STO, qpr, MUN, ars/lei, CPL, LIV), Eden Hazard remains untouchable at the top of our rankings. The Belgian international, now valued at 11.0 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), leads the way for bonus points accrued (34) this season and is now just 21 points behind the 202 he collected a year ago.

While Hazard is very much the gold standard among midfielders this term, David Silva isn’t far behind – the Spaniard has bagged the same number of goals (11), despite missing six matches through injury. The 9.8-priced schemer has registered 11 goal attempts over the last two Gameweeks, four more than any other midfielder, while he has created 15 chances, six more than his nearest rival. With a decent run of fixtures (cpl, mun, WHM, AVL, tot, QPR) to come, there are no signs of his outstanding form being halted.

Sadio Mane jumps up a place in our latest refresh despite blanking in Southampton’s 2-0 win against Burnley. The Saints have the second most favourable schedule (eve, HUL, stop, TOT, sun, lei) according to our Season Ticker, and coming in at just 6.7 in FPL, the Senegal international remains a strong fourth midfielder option – regardless of his recent shift back to a flank role. Mane is one of just four midfielders to record double figures for efforts in the box over the past six Gameweeks.

With three favourable fixtures (NEW, hul, QPR) in the next five, Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho is on the rise again. The Brazilian international has managed 14 goal attempts over the last four Gameweeks, the second highest behind Silva, while he has also created nine chances. Coming in at 7.9 in FPL, Coutinho is our preferred Reds midfield option for now, though if Daniel Sturridge’s reported hip muscle tear sees Raheem Sterling lead the attack, that could change. That is, of course, providing Sterling shrugs off the toe problem that has forced him to withdraw from England’s clash with Italy on Tuesday. It’s also worth noting that Coutinho’s above-mentioned trip to Hull in Gameweek 33 may yet be subject to change if the Reds get the better of Blackburn in their FA Cup replay. Passage to the semi-finals would see Liverpool handed a blank with a double Gameweek to follow, vastly influencing our assessment of Liverpool’s assets.

Gylfi Sigurdsson’s stock is in the ascent as Swansea prepare to face a friendly run of fixtures (HUL, EVE, lei, new, STO). The 6.5-priced Icelandic international has only scored once in his last seven league appearances, and was substituted after 63 minutes in the 1-0 win against Aston Villa last time out. However, that run of ties provides the perfect platform for prosperity, with Sigurdsson potentially adding to his five goals and seven assists to date.

Like Sigurdsson, Stewart Downing has struggled for form in recent outings. The Hammers midfielder – who has only delivered one assist in his last eight league outings – rises by virtue of a kind fixture list (lei, STO, mci, qpr, BUR, avl). Coming in at 6.5 in FPL like the Swans schemer, Downing could be an effective mid-price option for those looking to free up funds ahead of Chelsea’s double Gameweek 34.

Having failed to provide attacking returns in five of his last six league appearances, Alexis Sanchez suffers a hefty drop in this week’s ladder. Over 28,000 Fantasy managers have transferred out the Chilean so far, with his price dropping 0.1 to 11.3 in FPL. With Arsene Wenger quotedsaying Sanchez could be rested at some stage, along with the Gameweek 33 blank and tough matches against Liverpool and Chelsea on the horizon, the summer signing may struggle to justify his lofty price tag until the fixtures turn from Gameweek 35.

Christian Eriksen continues to fall down our midfield pecking order, despite picking up an assist in Tottenham’s 4-3 win over Leicester. That made it just two assists in his last seven league appearances, and although Spurs face three favourable fixtures (bur, AVL, new) in the coming weeks, a turn in the schedule come Gameweek 34 means it may be a matter of when, and not if, owners decide to show the 8.4-priced playmaker the door.

Despite having scored seven league goals this season, Juan Mata has barely been on the radar of Fantasy managers. The Spaniard has found it difficult to establish himself in Louis van Gaal’s first XI, with constant changes in formation casting him as a little more than an extra amongst United’s “Hollywood” headliners. But after starting in the 3-0 win against Tottenham, the 8.3-priced midfielder stole the show against Liverpool with two well-taken goals. With Mata revelling on the right-hand side in a 4-3-3 system, the former Chelsea playmaker looks set for an extended run in the first XI. Although the upcoming schedule is mixed (AVL, MCI, che, eve, WBA, cpl), the impressive nature of the last two victories may well convince some to take a gamble on him, even with Angel di Maria looming in the wings.

Marouane Fellaini also earns a place in our refresh after an impressive brace for Belgium against Cyprus last night continued the form that has won his a regular role under Louis van Gaal. As mentioned above, although United’s schedule could be far kinder, they clearly have the form to overcome such a tricky schedule and at a price of just 6.3, the former Everton man is certainly easier on the pocket than team-mate Mata but, potentially, just as effective and explosive on his day.

Three goals and an assist in his last four league appearances have brought Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson into our thoughts. After the trip to the Emirates, the Reds face four kind fixtures (NEW, hul, wba, QPR), which could offer the 6.5-priced midfielder the chance to continue his rich vein of form. His prospects would also be further boosted if Brendan Rodgers’ side beat Blackburn in their FA Cup quarter-final replay on April 8, leaving Liverpool with a double Gameweek – as mentioned above, though, this would leave him without a fixture in Gameweek 33.

Yannick Bolasie creeps in as our weapon of choice from Alan Pardew’s Palace dynamic midfield, edging out team-mates Jason Puncheon and Wilfried Zaha (just). The 5.4-priced midfielder created a league-high six chances in Gameweek 30, and with three favourable fixtures (sun, WBA, HUL) in the next four, looks a viable differential candidate, with an ownership of just 1.5%.

Matt Phillips suffers a drop in our latest refresh. QPR are faced with one of the toughest schedules (wba/avl, CHE, blank, WHM, liv, mci) according to our Season Ticker. Those who brought in the 4.6-valued midfielder for double Gameweek 28 will likely be looking for an exit route once the Chris Ramsey’s side’s latest double is out of the way, with a blank in Gameweek 33 coming after a testing trip to Stamford Bridge.

    Panti Hamer
    Kos Terry Naughton Rose Baird
    Hazard Mane Eriksen Silva Boyd
    Augero Giroud Kane

    2 FT, 3.1 itb

Considering Rose + Eriksen --> Ivanovic + Mata

    Yay or Nay?

With 2 FT's and a good front seven, I'd highly consider a defensive trannie right now. Can't see how I could improve that front seven at the moment and under the current circumstances (prior to any injuries). Some might say Aguero to Costa, but I'm not an avid fan of that, City still have some of the best underlying offensive stats and there's reason to be optimistic if you're holding any City assets right now. Stick with that frontline, IMO, you're very well set-up for the next three and especially Gw33, bar Giroud (blank)

Check out this table, and #1 http://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/public-stats-tables/view/94/

Just to highlight their (last team on list) blips of late, top three in all catgories other than the third and final columns - http://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/public-stats-tables/view/6810/

Not sure if you have a WC or not, and whether or not you want to bench/sell Giroud prior to the blank and the Chelsea game. So, can't give my take on the matter. If you have a WC, I'd highly consider selling Giroud after the Burnley match to Costa or a like minded striker if you're planning on WCing Gw34/35, IMO. You'll have the luxury of making some one week punts prior to the WC, and maximising your offensive potential is off the essence tbh.

So, having said that, you have to use one of your FT's and I think right now a defensive trannie is called for, if you want to go ahead with the Giroud to Costa later on and depending on how much money ITB you'd be left with -- I'd do either one of these...

Upgrade Hamer to Myhill(QPR,LEI,cry) or K.Davis(eve,HUL,stk), strengthens your defense formidably for the next three and certainly improves your defense considering Sunderland's defensive struggles as of late. This move in theory could add another 12 points to your total GW score if you rate West Brom's potential clean sheet in these next three and considering Panti blanks Gw33.

Your weak spots here are really Baird, and Rose(less so) IMO (apart from GK's), and replacing either one could really bolster your side for the future. So I think doing one Baird/Rose to a Saints defender is a great move, albeit this GW may not be the most appealing for many to get them in considering they're playing a rather improving Toffee attack.

Another good possibility, could be one of Rose/Baird to Jenkinson/Cresswell (lei,STK,mci) and play him for these next two (benched vs ManCity ideally). Good goal threat for both, always making good runs and creating chances (Jenkinson more so these last 6). Granted, the Hammers' defense has not been impressive of late, but these fixtures certainly give way for optimism.

Alot of these moves depends on what route you want to take though (i.e whether or not you want Costa soon,if you have a WC, if you'll keep Giroud for Gw33-34), seeing as one of my go-to's here if you're not keen on Costa for the DGW, and would rather keep Giroud -- I'd certainly get Ivan in for one of your defenders and double on Chelsea defense as a great differential.

Fwiw, I say no to those moves. I like the former single move, if you're planning on WCing and getting Costa in for the DGW though. The latter not so much IMO, a bit too knee-jerky for me.

Thanks for the detailed reply! I do still have my WC so planning to use it GW34 hopefully.
Doubling on Chelsea defenders now seem like the move I wanna do, in any normal case I would just do the one transfer and get Davies + Alder next week.. but I'm really tempted by United attacking options now that they have hit form and the play Villa.. You don't fancy any of their options? Dare I say Fellaini if not Mata?

Reminds me of when Scotland had a draw against them, wish I had the MP3.

A real conversation from a phone-in on Talk Sport radio after Scotland's draw with the Faroe Islands.
      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Presenter: We have Jim on the line who wants to discuss Faroes vs Scotland.

Jim: Thanks... eh yeah. Just want to say it's an absolute disgrace. I mean we were playing the weakest side in world football and we can't do better then a draw.

Presenter: It was a poor result...

Jim: Poor result?? It's absolutely scandalous! The manager has lost the plot completely, he has to go. I know we have never set the world alight over the years on the international stage but I can't remember things being this bad. It's the end for us. The absolute end. We are the laughing stock of world football.

Presenter: Look Jim, I know it looks bad but there is still a long way to go, admittedly there does not seem much chance of you qualifying for 2004 but things will improve.

Jim: I never expected to qualify and don't mind that so much as we are not good enough... but to fail to beat a team like Scotland is a different matter and a real massive blow to everyone on the island.

Mane as a player I think is absolutely dog turd. He does however manage to generate fantasy output so should not rule him out. Was playing up top with Pelle rested....but generally speaking a very attacking threat with a 50p foot when it comes to shooting accuracy.

    Hi all,

I'm in Aus, but have got a mate staying in London at the moment who wants to go to an Arsenal game. He's there until the end of April, so only this Saturday and Chelsea at home are available.

Can anyone suggest a reliable ticketing method? Obviously the club exchange is there but I'm a Chelsea fan and have bought tickets through an unofficial fan exchange before. Wondering if there is any of these people can recommend.

Would really appreciate any help! Cheers.

Also if there is anyone that can explain the process of buying through the club exchange (i.e. what membership you have to sign up to first) that would also be greatly appreciated.

There are a couple of twitter feeds that sell the Arsenal tickets, cant remember the name but fairly easy to find. All sold at face value as well. If that is no joy then ticket hub/stub hub but going to pay 15-250 I expect.

He would best becoming a Red Member but they only get tickets as the last option, if its a good idea normally the season and silver members will take the allocation

Since you're the pro ( 😛 ), to get tickets for an away team (to be in with the away fans), is the only way to get tickets by being a member for said club?

          1. Guidinho
            • 15 Years
            10 years, 11 months ago

The ticket allocations for home and away would be done separately by the respective clubs. Getting tickets in the away is probably more difficult due to the very small amount and the priority being reserved for the most ardent fans who go to all if not the away games.

I used to live next to the stadium and go quite a lot, definitely a great experience for your mate even if the atmosphere is a little flat. Stadium is great and some beers before/after on Upper Street make it a good day out.

            Hopefully the below links help.

        Loving the grav, Wakey!

Aye, I have been disappointed. I suppose it is his attitude, how hard working and driven he is to do as well as he can for them that makes me hope it works out. Big clubs need players like that, his first goal for United he looked as if he'd just one the CL for them.

But I agree, it all has to get back on track otherwise he'll be out the door.

      Rooney 29

      Falcao 29

Utd need to get younger in that department. I see rvp and falcao leaving

        • 16 Years

RVP is done by the looks of things (injuries stacking up), and I do agree that they need to improve in that region but a lot of strikers can flourish quite well at that age. 2 seasons out of Falcao, at his best, would be worth it. But they need a youngster as well.

Well, it's nice to see in your article the main transfer I put just below is indeed listed as an obvious choice! Always a good sanity check.

Certainly agree with your logic behind bellerin.Though I will undoubtably leave him in my team this week and transfer out Sanchez. Just because.

Agree alright Bellerin needs to go. Hes not an immediate concern though for me as he'll still likely play the next few and will have three strong defenders in Terry Toby and Bertrand.
