1FT and £0.5m in the bank. Good to go?

Also, my rank is 7700, what do you think is realistically achievable in the remaining 4 games with this squad? Thanks

    Schemeichel
    Terry Skrtel PVA
    Hazard Fabregas Sterling Henderson
    Aguero Giroud Benteke

Bench - (Panti) Cambiasso, Schlupp, Vlaar

Purely intuitively, I'd say top 5K. Triumphing in a few mini-leagues. A solid season.

I hope you are right! I probably wouldn't feel safe in his position either. Hopefully he will over estimate my abilities and make some mistakes trying to block my moves!

I took 11 points out of my ML leader this week and now 14 behind so fairly similar situation. I'm confident of getting him! Think he's going to throw more and more points on punts (he's taken 7 hits since GW24, I've taken 2).

You can totally get him.. he is probably getting fairly worried now.

All of the ground I gained this week was because of the two hits my guy took this week to block my moves. I only closed the gap by 6 points but I will take it

He seems to be a really rational and sensible player. I'm hoping he sticks with the safe (c) choices from here on out so I can try gain some ground. Or else maybe he gets rattled and tries to anticipate my moves to block them.. that could work out for me too. It did this GW!

Every season at this point people start going for ML titles and chuck points around so you can make good climbs up the rankings by holding back on the hits. I'm 17k too, I think top 10k might be a push so I wouldn't say good chance but doable definitely.

yup. Sterling is kak...at least Hendo had good scoring opps. If you want Sanchez for GW37, might as well get him now.

          How about this...

Tough decision to make and I wouldn't mind some advice from the DZ.

Essentially route (A) involves Sterling to Sanchez (probably this week) and I end up with Benteke (Burnley h) as my 3rd striker in GW38.

Route (B) involves Sterling to Ozil (probably next week) and I end up with Costa (c) as my 3rd striker in GW38 for Sunderland (h). I think that game could be a tidal wave if Sunderland are already relegated and I'd like the armband on Costa.

I can save FT this week and still go either way but if I bring Sanchez in I'd probably want to move before the weekend.

Other transfers and players will be the same either way. So is it Sanchez and 1 week of Benteke or Ozil and 1 week of Costa (c)?

Thanks. I think I agree. And if I really want to captain Costa in 38 I could still get him for a hit.

          • 16 Years

Sounds sensible. Chelsea have a history of battering Sunderland at the Bridge so you're right that it could be a big score. And wasn't there a Chelsea 8-0 another time in the last game of the season? Think I remember Lampard scoring 4. So it's a good tactic but not sure Chelsea will play with abandon before that game.

          1. Ruth_NZ
            • 10 Years
            10 years, 7 months ago

Yeah but I'd only bring Costa in for GW38. And yes, I remember a number of high-scoring games on the last day of the season at the Bridge. Plus the crowd will be amazingly up for it and Costa is going for Golden Boot.

I think the percentage play is Sanchez now and Costa in GW38 for a hit if he's fit and well and if Sunderland are already relegated.

Probably A Ruth. Benteke looks a great option, although if possible you could save this week, give Sterling an opportunity at home to QPR then ship next week.

Thanks. In the reverse fixture (Arsenal 2-2 Hull) Sanchez scored 13 points.

I follow stuff like that because I think players are influenced by it.

That's why if I'm bringing Sanchez in I'll do it this week. Plus Sterling doesn't look "right" to me.

Fair enough. But I think each teams form has more of an affect than players' history. Hull have been defensively sound lately.

But for me Sterling (QPR) -> Sanchez (hull) is a bit sideways this gameweek, definitely next GW though.

Well, I have heard many players talk about teams they always felt they'd score against and others they had a mental block with (Rooney vs Everton).

Confidence is a big deal and I think previous good history can sometimes give a player an added edge.

As I said I agree. But I believe the teams form is more of a factor. In this scenario, I think Hull's strong recent form will prevent Sanchez from scoring big more than his 'confidence' against them will help him score well.

One thought though, Ruth. In the reverse fixture, Sanchez was solo, with Giroud, Ozil, and Ramsey all out with injuries (Ramsey played 28 minutes though, but nothing for Ozil and Giroud). The team composition is far different, and the scoring more spread out. Sanchez had to carry the Arsenal attack back then.

Yes, I know. That makes it more difficult. I haven't had Sanchez since GW22 and I'm not sure the logic of that has changed.

Maybe but it would be a GW38 transfer so no commitment.

The thing is I think Chelsea will unleash a storm on some unhappy team before the end of season and Sunderland (h) looks a good time to do it just before the PL Trophy presentation.

Plus I'll be at the game so that adds to the attraction. 😉

Yeah History is with what you say. i remember CHE used to hammer an opponent (was it Wigan?) 7 or 8-0 on the last day of season.

But then I'm still skeptical about Costa's prospect featuring again this season. Even if he does feature, I think he will do much damage since CHE would already wrap the title by then.

Top 10k would be nice, pretty shocking I've only done it once. My problem is my team always ends up template, which it has again as I've barely moved for a couple of months.

Kane's cheapness is now a bit of a problem whereas it had been a big strength earlier. I will do Kane to Giroud but need to lose Fabregas/Coutinho/Sterling first. On paper they have good fixtures, but no one is going to be surprised when Liverpool and Chelsea score one goal between them.

Going into a gameweek knowing you'll spend a certain amount of points is a bit odd, especially when you don't know what those transfers will be 😀

      I'd do Sturridge -> Giroud/Benteke, Benteke if chasing. Bolasie -> Arsenal mid. That's only a -4!

Obviously Sturridge has to. Then it has to be Bolasie, extremely poor fixtures. Allows you to get an Arsenal mid and play said Arsenal mid over Cambiasso.

Keep Schlupp, he should be fit and Newcastle at home is as good a fixture as they come.

Albrighton 4.2 to Cork's 4.3; has 3 home games plus Sunderland away. . . .just throwing it out there that you could pick Larsson as a fifth mid & go for a cheaper Ars mid than Sanchez & play Larsson for the DGW..

Whichever one fits best with your budgetary plans. I mean Alexis is so potentially explosive, you'd be slightly nervous not having him, but Ozil & Ramsey are formidable cover...Caz is more budget friendly. Still a few snags between now & the DGW though, I feel!

money not a concern when it comes to caz or ozil. Also plan on getting giroud for the double.

which would leave me with: pva, larsson, caz/ozil, ramsey, giroud

even with that lot not having sanchez is a risk. with that said, hazard did nothing this week 😀

Thanks - makes me look like some kind of maverick, but I had the luxury of a Wildcard - meaning I could make a straight in/out for N'Doye. It means I'll have one less DGWer for 37 unless I take a hit, but I can't complain - I got my best score of the season this week.

It was really Kane to Giroud with N'Doye as a cheeky little differential stepping stone. He actually kind of didn't pay off, in a strange way 'cos if I'd gone straight to Giroud, benched him & played Alrighton, I'd still have gotten virtually the same & have an extra DGW (37) player for free. Oh well. The joys of FPL. You're never satisfied. Always paranoid!
