After revealing that one of our members, Simon March, walked away with the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) crown, we’re also delighted to announce that Geoff Pryor has emerged triumphant in the Sky Sports Fantasy Football game.

Geoff’s team, “Right Doesn’t Know”, finished 30 points ahead of his nearest challenger and wins him a cool £30,000 for a season’s work. As evidenced by his performances in the Sun Dream Team game last season, when he finished fifth overall, Geoff clearly is something of an all-round Fantasy Football expert.

Fantasy Football Scout supplied three of the top five managers for the Sky game. Katie Burgin took fourth spot on 2440 points, whilst John Eaton finished in fifth on 2432 points. Katie and John earn £1,000 and £500 from Sky for their performances.

Thanks to their endeavours, we successfully defended our crown in the “League of Leagues”, which comes with a £2,500 prize – the top five managers in the FFScout league will receive £500 apiece as a reward.

Our FFS Contributors and Moderators league will be hoping to challenge for the title next year after finishing tenth this time out, with our resident Sky expert Disable and myself earning a place in the top 100 overall.

Look out for an interview with Geoff later in the week as he discusses his successful campaign.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Crazy accurate prediciton of Liverpools season this year from RAWK-forum.. good read!

    http://www.redandwhitekop.com/forum/index.php?topic=315071.msg13101837#msg13101837

    He ends with:

We'll challenge for 4th but end up missing out. I'm fine with that, but I suspect the narrative will be that it was a failure and the fact is, that would mean that we went backwards. A bad start, and there will be a huge cloud around Anfield that won't be lifted for a while. I predict 6th. No doubt that many will call me a moaning and negative bstard but that's what I expect. Hopefully we'll get a cup run to set the pulses racing, but I foresee a season of transition for us.

Next season will be their season of transition, with hopefully for the LFC fans, a new manager and some new faces.

The real problem I have though was not getting fourth considering what this season was like. I didn't think we'd win the title but we should have kept pace with Chelsea by at most 5-6 points, its so disappointing to see every other team bar Chelsea up there do their utmost to throw their seasons down the toilet while Rodgers fails miserably mismanaging a squad that should have gotten top four at a canter.

i think chelsea were pretty lucky that a few elite clubs were in transitioning phases this season..... no one really challenged them hard enough because of that

Indeed never really felt the pressure on them, it was too easy for them. It really was a pretty awful season in that respect.

If Liverpool want to be a serious team, they must invest some serious money in players who already play in Premier.... my suggestion would be : Benteke, Milner, Wallcot, Coleman and Verthongen... 100 mil euro to invest for thet players...

      Mignolet

      Coleman - Skrtel - Verthongen - Moreno

      Henderson - Can

      Walcott - Couthino - Milner

      Benteke

I'm glad you're not the Liverpool manager then 😉

        1) need a new keeper
        2) Sakho is WAY better than Vert. Skrtel is the problem.
        3) need a defensive mid
        4) benteke is a bit of a target man but still good, not worth 30m though

To be honest, on #3, you need to add much more than just a defensive mid to the squad.

CB, striker, keeper, DM... in that order (Allen and/or Lucas could play DM, or even Can if needed... none of them ideal)

          1. Tell me your suggestion for keeper ? (why spend money for keeper when Mignolet is in 3 best keepers in league)

          2. Sakho is a "glass" player, more injured than fit... Vert is really good player on postion left defender

          3. Tell me yor suggestion fer def mid...?

          4. Benteke is only good sub for Luis Suares.... 30-35 mill for him is a good price 😉

LFC should splash on Lloris or Cech. Mignolet is a talent, but is too streaky. His highlight reel from this season was only made possible by lack deficits at CB and DM...
Lucas is (was?) fantastic, but fresh legs needed. Gerrard does PK's well but the rest of his game is flat. Even his tackling is gone IMO.

Securing both of those would make Mignolet better than he has been. Petr Cech never had a highlight reel during his CS bonanza years, did he?

Can't get Cech/Lloris, they'd want CL and would have at least 5/6 more better offers

I mention Gerrard not because letting him go needs to be justified, only to point out that he left the defense exposed too often, making Skrtel and Mignolet look poorer than they would be in other top-6 sides

ok, Cech, i totally forgot on him, I agree with that.... 😀 only Courtois and Hart are better.... and Cech... Forster... 😀 no comm... Lloris... too short... like Iker Casillas 😀 DDG .... hmmm .. maybe...

Ffs, I would go as far as to say that even keepers of smaller teams like Schmeichel, Green, Heaton and Pantilimon are all better than Mignolet

Forster is garbage, he's a flapper with no command of his area, just a good shot stopper, therefore giving the illusion of being good.

            ------Trapp
            Ilori Schar Sakho Moreno
            ---------Guilavogui
            -----Hendo-----Emre Can
            Jordon Ibe, Icardi, Coutinho

Trapp would cost 15m. Ilori already a LFC player. Schar free agent. Guila would cost 12m-ish. Icardi 25m. Konoplyanka free agent. That's around 50m. Sterling sold for about 40-50 and the sales of Lucas Borini Lambert and possibly Balotelli Skrtel or Lovren

Manquillo Skrtel/Lovren Allen Lallana Markovic Konoplyanka Sturridge Origi on the bench

But you need players who already play in Premier, had that experience from Premier... for some big results... I really don't know who is that Guilavogui guy???? Schar from Basel...??? Icardi... ? Good player but he gonna need 2 years to get used on Premier league... too many unproved players....

thanks ... 😉 I forgot on Cech, and yes if he is free, of course, Liverpool must try to get him... I try to made a strong team in real terms... for 100 mil... (60 mil + 40 mil for Sterling)... of course that De Bruyne is better than Milner, and Ramos is better than Vert... but it cost a lot of money... 🙂

Ok... in some point , you are right... but... two years ago.. Spurs sold Bale for 100 mil euro... they buy... Lamela... ? come on man, I watch that guy in Roma, no material for Premier... Chadli... good player, but for Sunderland... Chirices...? Soldado...? Capue...? Paulinho...? too many "egsotic" players... only Erik is worth... and at the end, they best player came from their young team, Kane... they have 100 mil in pocket, and they invest very bad... and that is a point of my story... Live must bring some proved players... no more time for exhibition... 😉

Sakho is only behind Terry and Koscielny in the league. It's no coincidence Liverpool's undefeated 13 game run (I think), came when he was in the side

In Premier league no one have serious pair of DEF players...

            United: Evans, Jones, Smalling... hahaha

            City: Demichellis, Mangala... also hahaha...

Arsenal : Merte & Kos... too slow

Live : Skrtel and nothing (Sakho and Lovren are not serious players)

Chelsea : Terry & Cahill ... too old, but they function togheter...

Totnem : Vert and who....? Fazio ? Kabul? Romanian guy...? 🙂

            Everton : No comment

      Downing. Missed his hot streak.
Baines, got him eventually for a string of 2s but missed the 40 pts in 4 GWs.
Charlie Adam at the end. What a punt that would've been!

Most of the time they're 4m because they're not starters though. Takes a few weeks to find the 4m starters and even then there's always the threat of a transfer coming in for that team to nick the position

I tend to start off with 2 fairly big forwards - Rooney and Costa this year.

Bit of re-classification needed to liven things up. Rooney and Ivan should be mids. Alexis and Haz forwards. Think it would be better to have 6 attackin/mid slots in the game and no strikers. The best players/scorers (Messi, Suarez, Ronaldo) are no longer classic-type strikers with a few exceptions like Aguero.

Ivan is a full back! Just cos he gets forward you can't change him. Rooney has played as striker again recently.

I suggested a revolutionary system a while back which had...

      GKs
Defensive players - current defenders plus defensive MIDs - get CS points like defenders do now
Attacking players - attacking MIDs plus current strikers.

      It received mixed response!

I'm tired of struggling for quality strikers and fielding the likes of Gru and Pelle while having to exclude good mids; eg Mane and Carzola. Be great to be able to directly transfer eg Pelle to Mane.

    3. yer_ould1

Ivan starts at right-back. Hazard and Sanchez do most of their work coming from midfield. Messi, Suarez, and Ronaldo aren't strikers, but they are still all forwards.

disagree. Attacking defenders (Ivan, Baines, Coleman, ...) should remain as defenders just be higher priced given risk/reward of attacking points. Rooney might be classified as a midfielder, as his striker days are clearly over. Depends on how LVG lines them up in preseason fixtures

To everyone looking for players from newly promoted teams:

    1. Most / Many / Several of their players simply won't be there come Aug.

    2. They always take some time to get going.
Sure Lei managed a couple decent games early & Bur a got a few CS but, overall not much to speak of, right?
Even Austin only managed two goals in the first 9 weeks.

    3. Don't fall for the hype...
More often than not, they'll only make 4th defender / 5th mid at best to start.
So don't really worry about it now.
Albrighton, van Wolfswinkel, or Pogrebnyak anyone?

In the end, I'm sure the professionals take a few days off after a long season & so should we!

{Ed002's Note - Some of this will change by the summer and there are major dependencies on (a) players leaving, and (b) how much money the club can raised through sales. However, there is known to be (or have recently been) some level of interest in the following players fairly recently:

GK: Cech (clearly the preferred option), Leno, Perin, Begovic, Leno and Ochoa have been considered. Interest in Neto has probably gone. Casillas might be an expensive alternative.

RB: After the progress Bellerin has made I don't see a RB being a priority.

CB: St Et's Loic Perrin is also a consideration for Arsenal, as is Virgil van Dijk. Howedes may just be a possibility. Roma are losing the battle to get Alessio Romagnoli to sign a new contract but Inter has the edge over both Sampdoria and Arsenal who were very keen on the player. Dragovic, Glik and Subotic have been considered but interest is likely gone, as has interest in Hummels has gone. River Plate's Balanta has been watched by Arsenal, but nothing will happen there.

DM: Arsenal will look to Southampton's Schneiderlin this summer and I think a deal can be done. Biglia does not appear to be a viable option but has been looked at. Carvalho remains a player that both Arsenal and Manchester United are interested in and his situation remains the same. He is for sale, but the asking price would need to come down to make any move possible. Khedira needs to get his act together and make a decision - put I suspect it will not be Arsenal. Asier Illarramendi has been of interest to Arsenal although a move is unlikely.

M: Fekir is a player of strong interest to Arsenal amongst others - Lyon do not want to lose him and Lacazette and are very difficult to deal with - but it is just possible. Certainly Arsenal are considering Calhanoglu and might move for him if Fekir is not available. Regardless of what Juventus say about wanting Vidal to stay, there is every chance he will leave Juve this summer and Arsenal has looked at him – but there is certainly no deal in place. Matuidi remains a possibility as he will probably be available and the club are aware of that. Bernard will be available but I doubt that Arsenal will consider rekindling their interest. Inter were looking to sell Kovacic and have spoken with Arsenal amongst other - the player does not want to leave at this time, and Inter will likely sacrificice Hernanes instead. Interest in Draxler has probably gone. The club will be approached about Arda Turan but I do not know if they will be interested at all. Arsenal have made an enquiry regarding Isco's availability. Interest in Gundogan seems to have been rekindled as he is still delaying signing a new contract – but I doubt a move to Arsenal will happen.

W/F: Dybala has been of sustained interest but he will not be moving to Arsenal. Arsenal will possibly turn to Jackson Martinez, Aleksandar Mitrović, Rodrigo or possibly Gonzalo Higuain as they cannot bring in their first choice.

Gameiro has been looked at and might provide a fallback position but there is interest from Marseille and Liverpool. Another alternative is Hoffenheim's Firmino, but Manchester City are already in talks. Kishna (I understand his agent wants him to move to Juventus) is probably no longer a consideration, and Lacazette is almost certainly not going to happen. Two other players the club were interested in - Bakkali and Andre Ayew - are very unlikely. Arsenal's interest in Pedro remains. Whilst there is still possible interest in Reus, a move does not seem viable this summer.

Eintracht Braunschweig failed to make Bayer Leverkusen's Karim Bellarabi's loan permanent in the summer amidst interest from both Hamburg and Hoffenheim. Interest from Stuttgart seems to have gone although Arsenal, Chelsea and West Ham have had the player scouted this season - Chelsea has another solution in mind now. However, any move this summer is unlikely as he has signed a new long-term contract with Leverkusen.

    Douglas Costa appears to be heading elsewhere and I suspect Arsenal have dropped their interest in him. Malcom and Tielmans have been looked at but there appears to be no interest. "Apparently" (an agent's "apparently"), Manchester United and Arsenal remain interested in Mandukic. I very much doubt it.}

Apparently these are Arsenals transfer targets.

    Next Season Prediction time...

Look for Everton FPL assets to bounce back in a BIG way.

Europa League always kills the overachieving mid-table teams from the year before.
Post-Michu's Swansea, Newcastle a cpl years ago, & now Everton.
Then when the sched changes back to just one game a week everything's much more manageable again.

Conversely, look for Southampton FPL players to have a rough go of it.
Really tough (& the stats show) to play a Thurs night away game & then try to go out & score a bunch of goals on the Sunday.

Looks like we may have to shell out for Sanchez next season. There's bound to be rotation elsewhere with the level of competition Wenger has.

Cazorla, Ramsey, Wilshere, Ozil, Sanchez, Walcott, Vidal, Coq, Giroud, Martinez?

Again, a lot will depend on who stays and who they bring in.

I know the following have all taken them this season from memory:
          Deeney - Watford
          Hoolahan - Norwich

              Me too.

Although, with only 3 striker spots up front a *rule* of mine is that they all should have the potential to be a captain.

Examples, like Lukaku, Giroud, Lambert etc... could all wear the armband in the right matchups but, the Holt's or Odemwingie's wouldn't ever be considered.

I don't really have that rule myself but if I've gone for a striker around 5-6m~ I will always play them. The cheap midfielder will be my bench fodder.

I saw that, but the right setup and a new manager are much more badly needed right now, once the coaching staff and possibly DoF are in place (one can dream of quality names) I'd think the squad will be looked at and maybe 2-3 additions made.

Even when it's on the club website I still take it with a pinch of salt, Kenny got the infamous vote of confidence and then was sacked. What speaks volumes to me is that the owners have remained quiet about this for months now. If they truly backed him they would of dismissed these rumours immediately. Instead they leak things to ITK journalists and are obviously sounding out candidates. If Klopp, Rafa or another manager on their shortlist wants to come I'm convinced he'll get the boot.

They're currently doing a review of the entire club, performed by a third objective party, separate to the end of season review with the manager meeting (don't confuse them). It's been going on a while so I'd imagine they'll act on its results, which should really point to replacing the manager and putting into place the right staff around him, DoF, coaches etc.

In hindsight, I regret my wording there. FSG are shrewd business men, it would be naive to think they wouldn't have contingency plans in place. I was inferring from the PR but I guess it's not all that obvious.

They were definitely, I'm not so sure now, their journos get their info from ITK sources, but if that source was the Brodge himself or someone who just doesn't have a clue you can see where fact goes amiss. The fact is the owners don't leak info unless they think it useful, so it's impossible to say really.

The Echo are Liverpool's unofficial mouthpiece. They aren't necessarily reliable. They are good for conveying Liverpool's PR message. If they wanted to calm down the fans frenzy whilst still being able to sack Rodgers this is exactly how they would do it.

As Jamie Vardy, Danny Ings and Charlie Austin have proved.

In fact, sad to say, you only need to look at my beloved club to immediately dispel that notion.

Yes mate. PL players are overpiced. Better quality abroad anyway.

Premier league standard is poor at present. Suarez destroyed teams and managers singlehandledly last year. Art of defending dead. Well drilled players from elsewhere with the right attitude will prosper even little uns like Alexis/Bojan. Can't wait to get Bojan back into my side even though it ruined me this year!

ran Simon March's team through http://anewpla.net/fpl/ and it showed -

    'Total Auto Subs : 11

Total Auto Subs Points : 48'

that's some impressive sub gains. Every little helps!

What else did he do right?

Started the season with 0 players from promoted clubs
      Zero hits.
winter WC'd as late as possible (gw24)
      WC played gw34

He could do the same thing next season and finish 500, 000th.

There is no magic formula for winning FPL. It involves a lot of luck as well as skill. Like winning the lottery really. Yes you pick the numbers but you have no control over whether those are the ones that get drawn out of the bag.

An interesting thing about this year's winner is he didn't use his wc early on in the season, left it until gw34 to play it. Didn't take any hits either which shows that he was able to get the players he wanted without having to worry about team value.

It was a lot harder this year to gain value early on which made it easier for people to catch up with bandwagons.

If fpl keep the price rises similar next season then I believe it will be so important to select the correct starting squad, unless you want to use your wc early. I will try and keep the same squad early and try to avoid using the wc early for a change....maybe 🙂

TV meant nothing because of Kane and because they tweaked the price changes so they were far more gradual.

The concept of not WC early is alien to me and I will definitely have to change that habit of mine.
