With the Premier League fixture list now revealed, our attentions are now fully focused on planning ahead of the new campaign in August.

In the past week we’ve provided you with insight on the teams faced with the easiest and most daunting passage over the opening four-to-six Gameweeks and, crucially, our season ticker fixture analysis tool was made live and available for you to reach your own conclusions.

The Season Ticker has been part of this site for many seasons, with the members’ version steadily evolving with new features. Some of you may well be unaware of the full functionality available in the tool, so we wanted to remind of the “How To†guide we built last season, guiding you through the use of the members ticker.

The eight movies below break up some of the features available, from the simple step of accessing the Ticker, right through to creating and sharing your own team ratings.

Part One – Accessing the Season Ticker Tool

Our season ticker tool is free to everyone on the site, offering a view of the next six fixtures for each team and allowing you to sort by Gameweek to view those teams with the most difficult and “easier” fixtures.

Our first movie shows you how to access the free version of the ticker and explains how we display fixture difficulty.

Part Two – The Members Ticker – Sorting by Difficulty

The version of the ticker available to members offers far more power to assess the difficulty of forthcoming fixtures for each team by allowing you to sort by a collection of Gameweeks.

View up to nine Gameweeks at once and sort the teams to assess those squads worthy of investment. Rollover a fixture to view previous meetings to add further insight.

Our second movie shows you more…

Part Three – The Members Ticker – Navigating Gameweeks

Not only can you add and remove Gameweeks from the members ticker view, you can also navigate back and forth throughout the season so you can plan your mid-term strategies.

Planning on playing your Wildcard early? Scroll the ticker to Gameweek 4 and check out who has the best run of fixtures from that point on.

This movie shows you how…

Part Four – The Members Ticker – Applying Filters

The members ticker not only gives you a view of the overall fixture difficulty ahead of each team, we’ve also supplied filters that show the chances of goals and clean sheets for each team based on their opponents to come.

Shopping for a defender? Use the “clean sheet filter” to view those teams most likely to keep shut-outs over their next run of matches. Looking for a Sergio Aguero alternative? View the “attacking filter” and the ticker will display those teams set up to score the most goals in the coming Gameweeks.

View this movie for the lowdown…

Part Five – The Members Ticker – Creating Filters

You may well think that our view of fixture difficulties are off-beam. Then why not tinker and create your own?

The members Ticker offers you the opportunity to edit our ratings to produce your own view of each team, enabling you to create brand new filters and overlays.

Check out this movie for a guide on how this is done…

Part Six – The Members Ticker – Sharing Filters

If you’ve created some filters that you think offer a helpful new view of the Season Ticker, or even if you want to an opinion on a filter you’ve created, you can share them with the community.

The Tickers import/export facility makes it easy – just expand the export ratings view and cut and paste the values into an email and the recipient can use the import panel to add your ratings to their ticker and get your filter.

We show you how this works in this movie…

Part Seven – The Members Ticker – Assessing Rotations

Finding pairings of goalkeepers and defenders who rotate home and away, or even rotate favourable fixtures, can be an important factor when selecting your initial squad lineup. The members ticker offers you a handy tool to facilitate such plans.

Members can drag and drop any row on the ticker to organise teams the way they want. Sort by difficulty on clean sheets, then drag and drop rows and you can piece together those teams that offer ideal keeper or defender pairings.

View this movie to see this feature in action…

Part Eight – The Members Ticker – The Expanded View

Did you know that you can use all of the members Ticker’s features in an expanded view? In one click you can expand the view to show up to 30 Gameweeks, giving you the ability to plan your long-term strategy with Wildcards and potential transfer targets.

This video shows you how…

I'm playing in a 7 a side footy tournament next week played on a 11 a side pitch...,.asides from needing stamina, what other attributes do you think are important?

Pace to run into space, there will be plenty of it. Good long ball ability might be handy too as players will find space to run into.

How long is each game? Might be worth sitting back for the first 15 mins, let opposition exhaust themselves running around in such a large space then hit them on the counter.

Pace yourself as a priority. Make the ball do the work, even better if they start chasing after it. Think rope a dope.

Passing is quite important. You won't have the ball much so keep it while you can.

Discipline is huge too. No point every one thinking they can go gung-ho because inevitably you will lose the ball, and someone needs to be a last man to protect yourselves from their counter-attacks.

I have played in lots of such tournies. I would recommend a very hard working midfielder for such tournies . All the above mentioned points are correct .
Other factor is fatigue do you have one match a day or multiple ?
The strategy we used was use only first 5 mins of both halfs to attack and try just nicking in 1 goal and sit back and relax for the next game.
If you have good long range shooter . ask him to take lot of shots and others can take couple of them .Do not even bother beating defenders .Try layoff for the one who's shooting . Amateur tournaments have poor gk's and if its full fledged goals . They don't even bother moving . Best of luck

      Its very long 😀

Ángel di María on if he is uneasy at United: "Yes. For me, and my family. Because not everything goes as I want, because I don't play."

"Because I came with an intention and end up on the bench. It's hard to tell how I feel there."

Ángel di María when asked if he'll leave United: "No, because I'm not thinking like that."

"I started well, with goals and assists. I was having a good time, until I was out. It's a little hard to explain why I do not play."

    From Olé, an Argentinian newspaper.

The one feature that I'd like to see on the ticker is to be able to sort on arbitrary gameweeks.

For example, if you are looking for a player for GWs 1 3 5 7 and 9 then you can move those columns to the left. Then you can reduce the GWs displayed to just those 5 columns. Now if you click sort I'd like it to sort on those five columns, but it just sorts for GWs 1-5. ðŸ™

would anyone else find this useful?

Following on from Giggs Boson’s excellent work to do with clean sheets, I have put together some clean sheet/goals against data for the BPL teams' most recent managers. Using their current or most recent tenure, I hoped to spot which managers performed over or above their average last season and as a result whether a team is more likely to provide more clean sheets – or even more minus 2s!

The stat I was really interested in was how many goals on average do teams concede when they are not getting clean sheets – or their clean sheet risk factor. For example, Liverpool tallied 14 clean sheets last season but conceded an average of 2 in the others (i.e. 48 goals in the other 24 games).

Agreed-It's the player comparison tool that I've found easily the most useful part of site.I've often watched MOTD and thought that a player looked really good only to find that they managed all of 1 good moment in the match when using the comparison tool

          • 14 Years

That might not exactly be a good thing. I've based all of my transfers off watching motd and live matches when available in the last three seasons and done ok for myself.

Nah, I'm happy with how I've done. I already spend too much time on FPL, it would consume absolutely everything if I got involved in the stats side of things too.

It depends-I base most decisions on watching MOTD but if I'm not 100% sure or I haven't seen enough of a player in a game I use the comparison tool to verify.

            Logout and have a look.

It's stuck on the next 6 Gameweeks - you can't move forwards or backwards, or lengthen or shorten the number of games looked at. You can't sort by overall difficulty, or specify between 'attacking' and 'clean sheets', or modify the filters.

The missus is not a reciprocal label. You don't have 'the mister' as its equivalent. Thus it relegates women as a relation of their other half. I mean I could chat over the semantics of the thing for hours... But it's best I don't 😉

Plus, its 18th century origin is in 'mistress' which none of us really want to be thought of. And if not, if you hadn't made that connection, it's a spoken form of 'Mrs' which, if she's your girlfriend and unmarried, she isn't that either.

Au contraire. There's always a place for unpicking society's casual, sometimes inadvertent, misogyny.

As for a triple rotation, it means you need to have two week-in-week outs. The fixtures look lovely for those three but the wider implications sound tricky or expensive.

I'm only jesting. I started with 5 cheapies last season and it was a disaster. I may avoid Chelsea early doors due to fixtures but will probably have either an Arsenal or United defender, another mid-price and 3 cheap.

I'm not so sure, Norwich are my 2nd team admittedly (Cambridge Utd are my "real" team so could be argued I'm not that qualified to comment) but Alex Neil is a canny manager and they're likely to have a few bargains as 5th mid/def - Bradley Johnson is tempting as long as he doesn't pick up so many cards.

      1) Have Aguero whenever he's fit
      2) Don't get a load of uber cheap defenders, forcing a complete overhaul early on
      3) If City are playing Aguero as a lone striker, always have Silva, even after a few blanks

Really, it should be "always have players that will start", but I know I'll break that with Walcott.

All these rotations full of fixtures like 'swa' and 'sto'...

Home advantage is a real thing. As many clean sheets were earned by teams playing Chelsea at home (3) as away to Stoke, Swansea, West Ham or even Newcastle in 2014/15. In fact, on the basis of CS won last season, new/wba/cpl/lei/qpr (25 CS in 95 games) would have been on a level par with CHE/LIV/TOT/MUN/SOU (25 CS in 95 games) for a rotation pair.

Sunderland are just as terrible at scoring at home as they are away, however!

I agree. Any of the good rotations which don't have at least 9 or 10 home fixtures in the first 15 are being ignored.

Interesting, I do tend to play a defender away to a mid-lower table team ahead of a tough home fixture, maybe a home/away defender rotation is better than trying to judge it on fixtures!

Following up from our convo above, it then goes:

First ARS = new is best fixture
      MUN = swa
      ARS = avl

But triple rotations are a pain because you need two week-in-week-out defenders which gets pricey or problematic.

      6, 5 (maybe 5.5), 5 (PVA), 4.5 (if lucky), 5

Too expensive for me and wasted bench money when playing 3 at the back.

if Myhill is 5, Panti is a better option IMO with Foster to come back and Pulis apparently looking at Hennesey again

JK, the Panti love is overwhelming 😉

Noticed you talking up Norwich/Stoke. Does that imply you see there being nailed on 4.5 Stoke options?

possibly in defence, or Butland if Begovic leaves

Bar ShawX it seems a bit of a lottery with the Stoke defence though

      How does it rotate?

It is kinda pricey. I'm thinking something along the lines of Kosc, PvA, 4.5 Leicester, 4.5, 4.0 and Myhill in goal

I definitely want WBA cover. Poor opening fixtures but Pulis has the potential to smash the CS odds.

This is very similar to what I'm looking at. I think I owe Myhill a spot after the points he got me at the end of last season.

Youve got to have your standard 4.0 or even 3.9 bournmouth defender in there

I remember many moons ago when Niclas Alexandersson was banging in the goals for Everton in pre season and everyone having him in their fantasy team at the start of the season. This did not end well.

I think it was the Mirror one that we used to do back then. I remember a massive A3 sheet of paper on the wall in the local sport shop with the scores on that was updated each week 😆

Depends if they sign another striker and how long Sturridge next gets injured for.

That's a HUGE assumption to make. Think Ings will play Capital One Cup and Europa League if Sturridge were fit.

Which players are people earmarking as making an early/season long impact next year?

There have been a lot of foreign signings - not sure how well they're going to adapt to the brutal play of the EPL.

    In particular, thinking:

    Firmino (LIV)
    Juanmi (SOU)
    Depay (MUN)
    Ayew (SWA)

Any must have picks this year besides the obvious Chelsea players?

Don't see Juanmi playing as a genuine striker for us but will probably be listed as a FWD on the game. Plus, being physically diminutive, I can see him needing time to adjust.

Not really, I think i'm going with the tried and trusting this year, chuck in the odd punt(4th/5th mid & 3rd striker) and the usual cheap stinkers at the back(4th/5th defender) and we're good to go.

Firmino if he's a mid, Memphis if he's a starter and Ayew if he's reasnably priced.

Depay & Firmino to come in at around 9.0-9.5?

    Hi,

Hoping this can be put as a hot topic or at least someone having an idea on how to compile this data.

Basically, i find it difficult without trawling other sites to see when players have hit form in previous seasons or when they have scored high points against certain teams. Is there a way to extract the data from FPL last season so you can create easy charts/graphs for a player next season. As far as im aware, after the FPL is refreshed in the summer the only data you can get is the end of season stats for each player. It would be good to see this broken down to see if the points they scored were in streaks or over a longer period of time.

Only an idea, and maybe it is availiable already, but if you can let me know that would be great.

    Cheers

The Watchlist on the right hand side shows when players are in form.

Hitting form in previous seasons holds no relevance to future seasons, nor does playing well against certain teams in the past.

Firmino, who has scored 47 goals in 151 games for Hoffenheim, becomes the Reds' second most expensive player after Andy Carrol. 😆

Sterling doesn't score bags of goals and he's being sold for 50 mil.

      7 goals / 11 assists last season.

I expect him to score 8-10 this season.

He's an attacking midfield player, not a striker.
