Newcastle can count themselves a little fortunate remain in the Premier League after their decision to part company with Alan Pardew midway through the previous campaign proved disastrous. Having won seven times and earned 26 points in their first 19 fixtures, the Magpies stuttered to safety under the guidance of John Carver, with three victories and 13 points accrued over the remainder of the season.

In this latest article for members, we assess Newcastle’s faltering campaign, running the rule over their squad in terms of goal threat and creativity ahead of the Steve McClaren era.

Very enjoyable with the squad approach. However, you have to keep on top of it with Saturday/Sunday and sometimes Monday games to do substitutions/changes of captain.

Bad captain picks and went for punts galore.
missed Kane (on bench) and aguero (bought someone else) when they went mental. And lumbered myself with Remy, studge, ramires and cuadrado at different times (idiot punts)

It was all pointing towards another bid from city. Things have changed after todays events. City obviously think Sterling will force FSG to accept their £40mil bid.

yeah I know city are loaded and FFP has been lifted and obviously they are in for the big names to refreshen their squad but as you said, city know sterling wants out and that Liverpool don't want this sterling saga going on all summer so it makes sense to stick to the £40m bid coz im sure FSG will back down eventually

Im not sure. I think FSG will stick to their guns. Sterling is on 35k a week atm. If city think FSG will cave in, testing their resolve then Liverpool could just end up keeping him. Sterlings asking price will drop significantly, but that will bring the likes of Arsenal, and chelsea into the equation so its in citys best interests to try and do a deal this summer. Sterling is a london boy so would favour a move to the London clubs

Slight fib there, I believe what some said was if United were to compete with a team of lesser stature (regarding the Clyne deal, and not having a pop at Liverpool either because I wasn't saying that). If Hummels doesn't want to leave that isn't going to change.

Let's give all the facts 😉

Sakho might be slightly more say 7. I hope not but you never know. JRod could very well be the same. But if either one is underpriced will be a bargain. However would you have Mane and JRod in the team? Guess you would go with whoever is better value. Although a cheap striker would make life a lot easier.

Lucas has told Rodgers, this week, that he is looking for a new club as BR was unable reassure him about his role in squad over Allen and Can

Been surplus since his injury tbf and a move is probably best for him. Pity, far better than Allen at his best and Can still unproven

My impression was Can was the replacement last season but their hand was forced a bit with other defensive issues. But sure, see what happens. Thought it was common knowledge around Pool that Lucas was on the way out.

Milner will play CM with Henderson. Can should play in the DM role even though he seems better suited as a box to box midfielder rather than a spoiler

In a 4-3-3, Mata plays from the right as an inverted playmaker, or he doesn't play at all.

Scneiderlin was never the tough tackler in Soton's midfield. He likes to get on the ball and push forward. No way is he a cdm. I think he'll get shown up defensively without Wanyama or a proper cdm beside him.

the milner we saw at villa was FF gold; main man took everything, loads of MOTM's, scored round 10 goals etc. the city milner was far less appealing. at Liverpool he will be one of their main players and he is good at SP but maybe henderson and coutihno will be on them.

If he wanted to be able to jump ship when a super rich club came for him, he should have negotiated a release clause in his contract. He didn't, so he should keep his head down and honour his contract until the club accepts a bid. There are other players that want out, such as David De Gea, that aren't throwing all of their toys out of the pram.

These other players aren't being given scripts about what they must say at press conferences. Additionally, De Gea plays for a top European team. Sterling doesn't.

Oh do give over. United are by far the biggest team in England in terms of prestige, international following and standing and revenue. Biggest ground as well. Alongside Bayern, RM and Barca they are one of the "Big Four" European clubs that every top player would be happy to play for.

If you don't recognise that there is little hope for you. Try taking off the Anfield-tinted spectacles.

This guy is saying tomorrow night launch: https://twitter.com/markrogers1/with_replies

No idea of credibility besides some other guy on Twitter saying he was right last season. Apparently Hazard+Sanchez+Aguero is 35.5m

It'll be interesting to see how cheap Yaya will be as well. Sounds like City are no longer in for Pogba

    La Masia @Youngcules
Cadet A goalkeeper Iñaki Peña is almost a done deal for Manchester United, according to @maverikfcb.

    La Masia @Youngcules
Horrible news for Barça. Horrible work by Jordi Roura. La Masia's best goalkeeper. Man United would get some gem...

Seems to be highly rated at Barcelona. Was due to be promoted from Cadet A to Juvenil A.
United said to have offered a better deal financially.

    David Amoyal @DavidAmoyal
Darmian is expected to take his medical for United on Friday according to Di Marzio

A young GKer, sounds like a real prospect. United mightn't buy a GKer once DDGer goes and we ease this guy in in the next few years.

Big changes? This sounds very bad. like three wildcards? Will affect captaincy one week? Eggs baskets? Sounds like you can choose one week to have more than three players from a team or a triple captain score 😕

Stats based bonus. Price changes last season. Jan wc. From memory the only change for the better was ft roll over
