It’s back. This morning, the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game opened its doors for registration ahead of the 2015/16 season, allowing Fantasy managers plenty of time to tinker before the action finally gets underway.

A quick look at the Price List shows only seven players will set you back at least 10.0 – three midfielders and four forwards, with Sergio Aguero the costliest option at 13.0.

Elsewhere, Tottenham’s Harry Kane has been handed a bumper price rise on the back of 21 goals and five assists last season – at 9.5 this time around, he’s no longer budget friendly. Premier League new boys Memphis Depay and Roberto Firmino will both set you back 8.5 – as expected, the duo are listed as midfielders.

The big news, however, concerns a number of new rules to the game. Fantasy managers are handed three chips which they can only play once in a season. This comprises the following:

Bench Boost – Fantasy managers will receive all points from their 15-man squad in a chosen Gameweek.

Triple Captain – allows us to collect three times our selected captain’s score in a specified Gameweek.

All-Out Attack – this allows you to field a 2-5-3 formation in a chosen Gameweek.

It’s worth noting that we cannot use any of these chips in the same Gameweek as a Wildcard. In addition, Fantasy managers can only use one chip in a chosen round of fixtures.

On the subject of Wildcards, there’s been a significant change. Fantasy managers are now handed one wildcard for each half of the season – if you don’t use your first one before Gameweek 20, you lose it. Subsequently, there is no longer a set period for a winter Wildcard.

We now have 30 days to fine-tune our 15-man squads until United and Spurs go head-to-head in the early lunchtime kick-off on Saturday, August 8 at 12.45pm.

As always, we’ll be rolling out a series of Player Price List articles over the upcoming days, breaking them down by position.

For now, though, this is just a heads-up. Enjoy.

Wildcard change is brilliant - I love keeping mine back until DGWs pile up, and resented having to nude it in January. So in effect I'm bringing the January one forward and still having the other for later. Great news!

      • 14 Years
      10 years, 5 months ago

What if you wanted to use it in Jan? Now you can't if you use one later for DGWs. The other one has to be used by end of December.

          • 14 Years
          10 years, 5 months ago

Well the end of Jan instead of the end of Dec would still let people use it as a Jan WC if they wanted.

            10 years, 5 months ago

Like Billy says it's now not a choice between early International Week adjustments and late DGWs. It's a choice between Jan transfer window adjustments and late DGWs

    2. Billy Gilmore
      • 13 Years

The wildcard change simply removes nearly all strategy around its timing. It's always been a use it early for price rises vs use it for possible bumper DGW. Now it just doesn't matter.

Hey mate. Yeah, I took a good month off from fpl so am back raring to go!

Rooney may still be a good pick, will depend on who else MUN sign. A left field cheap pick spending on fitness and preseason could be Bojan. Good opening fixtures, on pens and only 5.5m.

Otherwise I'd consider Kane, Giroud and possible even Lukaku for an early 1 week punt.

Yeah Bojan has caught my eye, and ACL injury can take a long long time to re-reach the player you once were from what I've heard.

    Myhill - Butland
    Azpi - Pieters - Toby - Naughton - C.Dawson
    Hazard - Ozil - Yaya - Firmino - Puncheon
    Rooney - G.Murray - Bojan

Too many good midfielders at 8.5m, I can't help myself. Glenn Murray will be an absolute steal if Pardiola doesn't sign anyone.
Least sure about Firmino but this gives me 1 of the best 4 teams in the league in attacking positions and Spurs don't have any consistent scorers other than Kane

I would have gone for all 5 in that range but Puncheon at 6m is irresistible and Hazard is just too good.
It is important to have 1 solid attacker because someone will explode and I want to able to get them in with 1 transfer.

    DGW Planning (stolen)

As DGWs will be the best place to use chips, you can't WC and use a chip on the same week (as a WC is a chip), so you will have to WC a week earlier. Brain meltdown!!!!
