Following a successful first season at the Britannia for Mark Hughes, in which he guided Stoke to a ninth-place finish, expectations were high as the Potters headed into the 2014/15 campaign. The former Blackburn boss continued his side’s evolution, bringing in the likes of Bojan Krkic from Barcelona and Victor Moses on a season-long loan from Chelsea, while Phil Bardsley and Mame Biram Diouf added physicality at both ends of the pitch. That balance of style and substance ultimately proved successful, with Stoke finishing in ninth place once again.

In this members article, we will take an in-depth look at Hughes’ second season in charge, analysing the main goal threats and creators and comparing the numbers from the 2013/14 and 2014/15 campaigns under the Welshman.

    My first RMT 🙂

    Kasper - Hamer

    Kos - Azpi - NOR - BOU - WAT (all 4.5)

    Hazard - Walcott - Ozil - Payet - Anya

    Rooney - Sakho - Pelle

    - I am concerned about doubling up on WHU, although I do think we'll start strongly.
    - Ozil can be changed to Cazorla or another 8.5

Double Arsenal and double West Ham - could pay off but I'd be tempted to spread the cash elsewhere slightly. Maybe Payet to one of Milner/Henderson or one of the Palace midfielders?

        Thanks for the feedback.

I'm happy with double Arsenal tbh, but agree about West Ham.

Payet to Milner is definitely an option to consider, thanks.

Not a fan of the keepers.
      Decent defence.
Mid is good but a little risky, not convinced by Ozil although you're doubling up so kind of mitigates the risk.
      Forwards are ok.

Cheers, which 4.5/4.0 keeper combo would you suggest then?

Or I could stretch to 5.0/4.0 if I downgrade Payet.

£4.5/£4.5 with Schmeichel and Butland is what I've gone for. Might be worth downgrading Payet at the start, then get him in around GW9 when his fixtures pick up.

I'm trying to trust my analysis that West Ham will get off to a flyer (due to EL qualifiers in pre season) and then slow down.

    Stoke leading 5-0 against Wrexham.

    Walters x2

I've already advised you Walters when you've asked the same question last week or so.

He is the most nailed as it stands, and certain to start the season, unless he gets injured ofcourse...

Yeah, but Diouf or Arnautovic could also play on that position and steal his gametime.

            • 11 Years

            As it stands imo...

            Walters - Adam - Bojan
            Joselu/Diouf

            OR...

            Walters - Bojan - Arnautovic
            Joselu/Diouf

Joselu is comfortably better than Diouf for me, but they're likely to share gametime.

Walters & Adam are very tempting if I go that cheap with my 4th mid - probably will stick to minimum of 7.0 though with Liverpool lads or Chadli, if not 8+.

        Exactly the same for me.

My fourth mid is Henderson/Milner and likely to stay that way, but Walters would be high on the list if I looked to downgrade there.

Unfortunately yes, remember Agueros blank at West Ham last year, luckily the triple captain chip wasn't around back then

RMT - please made a few edits and any help is greatly appreciated. Not sure Courtois is the right way to go but allows me to get in Kos. Thanks a mil all.

    Courtois // Hennessy

    Koscienly // Lescott // Richards // Mings // Targett

    Hazard // Sterling // Walcott // Schneiderlin // Anya

Costa // Rooney // Wilson (BOU)

Good balance, Schneiderlin isn't a wise pick, he'll play too deep to do anything FPL wise.

Personally I worry about Walcott when Sanchez comes back, but I'm in the minority there.

And hats off to for picking former Northampton Town mega star Anya

I'm waiting for GW3. GW1 may not be fit. GW2 against Chelsea. Probably a tight game.

So, this players are mostly nailed on in my team and I am happy to own them.

    Schmeichel - Butland
    Azpi - Martin - Francis - XXX - XXX
    Hazard - Ozil - Depay - Sterling 90% - XXX
    Aguero - XXX - XXX

With Tadic or Henderson instead of Sterling, I could have good rotation, but..

Does this lineup look too risky?

    Butland | 4.0
    Azpilicueta | Fonte | PVA | Huth | Saylor
    Silva | Sterling | Walcott | Mane | Fletcher
    Costa | Tekkers | Sakho

Sanchez/Ozil/Giroud will be the preferred Arsenal front three

    Please RMT

    Courtois (Hennessey)

Kos - Ivan - Mings (Holebas, Targett)

    Fabregas - Mata - Walcott - Depay - Sterling

    Benteke - JRod (Ighalo)

Trying to cover all the big teams and tasty fixtures. Def and Mid feel really strong, Atk feels a bit weak but with that mid I think it's good..

It's a good 5 in the middle. But are Fabregas/Mata/Depay/Sterling going to outscore Costa/Rooney/Aguero.

(I mean if you were to downgrade one of them to a 4.5 and use the money to upgrade Ighalo.

I see Pedro taking Mata's spot away. LVG brought in Depay not Mata. Depay was given the no.9 jersey and is much more of a presence than Mata. Mata is like Ozil and wants to be silky and smooth but LVG wants presence and robustness. I'm personally going with Depay and Rooney. Did you see Mata miss an open net yesterday when Rooney was wide open?

From my point of view is that he will make things tick in Newcastle's team and improve them overall. However, from an FPL point of view, one might believe that there are better choices.
