Our members articles analysing last season are completed today with a review of West Ham’s performances. The Hammers entered 2014/15 in reasonable health, having finished 13th in the Premier League in the previous campaign, although they only gained 40 points and did flirt with the relegation zone before finally confirming their top-flight status.

Plenty of changes were made in both playing and coaching personnel at Upton Park last summer, with forwards Enner Valencia and Diafra Sakho brought in, while Teddy Sheringham joined up as an attacking coach. Cheikhou Kouyate and Aaron Cresswell were also signed, while Carl Jenkinson and Alex Song moved to the Hammers on season-long loans.

In this members article, we asses the main goal threats and creators in Sam Allardyce’s final year at the helm and also compare the team’s attacking numbers to the previous year.

Gareth Barry, believe it or not.

Until a decent £4.5m mid becomes apparent he'll do the job on the bench for me.

I'm staying clear of Clyne. I think Liverpool have a lot of threat upfront and I can't see Clyne getting much attacking returns. If he starts poorly, the 40%+ who have might decide to sell him = Price decrease :/

More points to be made from midfield IMO, they may be cheap but so long as the defender plays there is always a chance of a clean sheet.

    Fabianski, Schmeichel
    Clyne, O'Shea, Mert, Huth, Fonte
    Mata, Fab, Sterling, Cazorla, Ox
    Pelle, Ulloa, Wilson

    4.5 left in the bank.

You have the makings of a good defence but you need to work out what you're doing up top. Are you playing 3-5-2 or 3-4-3? Work this out first then look at the best return over the first three fixtures. Pelles a nice pick, but I'm worried by the other forwards when Ox is far from nailed

        1. #WinterIsNotComing
          • 11 Years

3-5-2 most probably and might bring in Rooney for Wilson and rotate strikers.

Downgrade ox to wanyama then invest in your strikers. No offence but that is the worst striker combo i have seen so far.

Points are likely to be split randomly and I'd rather gamble on 1 and get in more prominent players from the other teams (Haz / Mane / Sterling are bound to be involved in most goals - at least until Kun is back)

but u have to consider the money saved can be spent elsewhere. The difference between Kos and Ozil/Caz/Ramsey is 2.5m, thats a lot for improvements elsewhere such as the difference between a 4.5m defender and Ivan

I've been a member for all of a fortnight. Spent most of last season lurking. Can't help notice that some of the more knowledgeable folk here are suffering from RMT fatigue. This is understandable, as the pages fly by and it hampers sensible discussion.
Might there be an argument for a forum within the members area devoid of RMT? I am sure this point must have been raised previously. Apologies in advance should this prove to be the case.

I quite agree. RMT is tedious to say the least.

Did it last year but, guess w/ Mark having a baby it wasn't tops on his list to implement this year?

          Note: PURE speculation here
But, I can say whenever you've got an idea like that, mail it in they're a very responsive & friendly bunch.

otherwise I like. Keep an eye on 4.5 mid slot, few options there so make sure its the right one

    One of:

    A) Ozil
    B) Cazorla
    C) Depay

Sorry if this has been asked already!

Depends on the rest of your team... but C (for risk and reward) then B (for assist potential and closest to be nailed on in Ars), then C (maybe on pens)

All good choices. I have A and B

B, Cazorla is just a beast

Depay would be my only United cover, so slightly more inclined to pick him but it's risky!

    A) Pantillimon + Cédric
    B) Stekelenburg + o'Shea (and save 0.5)
    C) Stekelenburg + pva

Cloese - fancy So'ton to keep more clean sheets, however we know that Panti is good for save points. But I think A just edges it.

Anyone considering an Ibe/Hoolahan rotation? Both 5.0m and can share the 4th midfielder slot with these games:

CRY, BOU, SUN, WHM, BOU, NOR, VIL, LEI, new, WBA

      Ibe isn't nailed on..

Neither are nailed. Sakho/Martin might be worth a look tho

    Currently going with

    Ruddy. Butland
    Azpi. Bellerin. Huth. Francis. 4.0
    Caz. Haz. Ramsey. Sterling. Wanyama
    Rooney. Benteke. Deeney

    Worth doing

    Bellerin > Cedric
    Wanyama > Sinclair?

I think I'm convinced to go with Butland mate

You'd use him twice in the first 6-7 games

      I like this team though

        Wanyama > Sinclair

Nah, not worth it. It is nice to have a 4.5 bench warmer. And I Belerin will outscore Cedric
