Our members articles analysing last season are completed today with a review of West Ham’s performances. The Hammers entered 2014/15 in reasonable health, having finished 13th in the Premier League in the previous campaign, although they only gained 40 points and did flirt with the relegation zone before finally confirming their top-flight status.

Plenty of changes were made in both playing and coaching personnel at Upton Park last summer, with forwards Enner Valencia and Diafra Sakho brought in, while Teddy Sheringham joined up as an attacking coach. Cheikhou Kouyate and Aaron Cresswell were also signed, while Carl Jenkinson and Alex Song moved to the Hammers on season-long loans.

In this members article, we asses the main goal threats and creators in Sam Allardyce’s final year at the helm and also compare the team’s attacking numbers to the previous year.

        I had him on my team towards the end of the season and Arsene did rotate him over some games, due to priorities in other cups. Its going to happen again!

          Debuchy will get League Cup and some CL. Bellerin will start >75% league matches and is the best option in our backline when playing

    very few people are backing Depay on here? He had a good pre season, linked with Rooney well and will be on set pieces... I think he'll be on more points than sterling at the end of the season.

    Thoughts?

          Pre-season is all about experimenting. There has been lot of talk about Januzaj being the striker. Then where will Rooney play? deep in midfield along with Schweini?

            • Fantasy Football Scout Member

            Depay is so far ahead of Januzaj in the pecking order. Januzaj is only a striker option because they have so few others, it is just a contingency plan for if Rooney gets injured.
            Di Maria was out the team because he played badly. Young was ok but Depay was not signed to sit on the bench.
            Rooney up top, Depay and Mata on the wings and then a midfield 3 consisting of a rotation from Schwein, Schneiderlin, Herrera (great player), Fellaini and Carrick.
            Sometimes Mata or Depay will play more centrally and Young or Januzaj will provide width but that is likely against defensive teams where 3 CM's isn't needed.

      I said as soon as he signed that he'd be in my basket immediately if he were 9.0 or under and at the top of my watchlist if he were more expensive and my view hasn't changed since.

        That's exactly what I thought and I've always had in my team. Now I'm getting cold feet and considering sterling over him for the first game week.

        Sterling may be the safer bet, but Depay could have high rewards!

      Benteke could be a great pick but he is probably the riskiest pick up top. Really could go either way.

      Haz is just too expensive. I have drafts with him and without him and my team is much better without him

      Hazard played poorly yet still had a point blank chance he would normally make. Giroud was his normal wasteful self. Ivan was on a short leash. Walcott was mostly anonymous but got an assist and is much more effective against teams that will press

    Ramsey or Cazorla?

    Ramsey has a better attacking threat, played centrally today and has a good record against West Ham. Also a differential in terms of percentage of people who have him (most opt for Cazorla).

    Cazorla is on pens, takes long shots now and then and is on many set pieces. Definitely nailed on.

    still unsure whether to keep the 1.5 ITB I currently have to go towards Rooney to Aguero. Are there any noticeable weaknesses in my team that need addressing? Planning on playing 3-4-3.

    Panti/Hennesey

    Ivan - Kos - Francis/Bassong(rotating these two based on fixtures)-Burke(non playing 4.0)

    Hazard - Ozil - Depay - Albrighton/Redmond (rotate these two based on fixtures)

    Was chatting to Luke (d1sable) over the weekend and he was considering ditching the GW4 wildcard idea which oddly made me think about it and it seems a good idea.

    Chances are I'll want 3 City players who I don't want to start the season with. Will have some good data on who is starting.

    Only downside is transfer window wouldn't be shut.

    A. Sterling, Walcott and Rooney with 4.5m ITB

    B. Silva, Walcott and Rooney with 3.5m ITB

    What do I start with? Going for A means that I can upgrade Walcott to Sanchez when he is back and then at GW4 Rooney to Aguero as having Sterling frees up that extra million I need to be able to afford Sanchez and Aguero. However, starting with B means that I could possibly use my WC at GW4 and try to jig it around so I can have Silva Aguero and Sanchez in my team and lets face it... Silva and Aguero's partnership is amazing!

    This is my team atm...

    Butland Schwarzer

    Mertesacker Azpilicueta Mings Angella Gamboa

    Hazard ??? Walcott Wanyama Ritchie

    Rooney Sakho Wilson

    Schmeichel

    Azpi || Merte || Targett
    Silva || Hazard || Sinclair || Cazorla
    Rooney || Benteke || Pelle

    Butland || PvA || Bentelab || Baker

    What do u guys think, any where I could improve?

    # Silva and Targett vs Sterling and Cedric?
    # PvA and Cazorla vs Coates and Walcott?
    # Butland and Pva vs Coates and Adrian?

    #Any other input, would be much appreciated?

      I like it, but 2 4.0's at the back is risky, I'd downgrade PVA to a 4.5 and upgrade a 4.0

      Don't think so.

      Plenty of teams with Kane, Pelle, Deeney, Wilson.

        I'm starting with Wilson but i think I may look to draft Tekkers or Sakho in for GW2

        I really liked the team I had without Benteke, but he has scarily high ownership and great home fixtures

        if he's on pens as well then 8.5 looks a steal for a nailed on Pool striker

    So after today Benteke should start gw 1 and Costa will start on the bench thus making Doos a prophet ?

      Watford have horrible fixtures. Dont be fooled by home games to WBA and SOT. They are some of the best travelling teams.

    Guys ..... Last chance to get into the Epic Fails High Rollers league. Only have 9 players so easy chance for a return. Epic wanted 15 but 10 would be cool. Get in, if you have any confidence ?
