Our members articles analysing last season are completed today with a review of West Ham’s performances. The Hammers entered 2014/15 in reasonable health, having finished 13th in the Premier League in the previous campaign, although they only gained 40 points and did flirt with the relegation zone before finally confirming their top-flight status.

Plenty of changes were made in both playing and coaching personnel at Upton Park last summer, with forwards Enner Valencia and Diafra Sakho brought in, while Teddy Sheringham joined up as an attacking coach. Cheikhou Kouyate and Aaron Cresswell were also signed, while Carl Jenkinson and Alex Song moved to the Hammers on season-long loans.

In this members article, we asses the main goal threats and creators in Sam Allardyce’s final year at the helm and also compare the team’s attacking numbers to the previous year.

Looking to wildcard in time for Aguero at home to Watford. Hows this short sighted team:

    Pantilimon/Hennessey
    Koscielny, Wisdom, Smith, Ivanovic, Francis
    Mané, Sterling, Mahrez, Walcott, Fletcher
    Rooney, Lukaku, Kane

    Lukaku -> Sakho after GW1

Wisdom is not nailed. Would change him to Martin. Otherwise is good for a short term team. Assuming you will play 3-4-3 and 4-3-3 at the start?

This is very close to my team.

I have a lighter defense though.

No WC for me though. And can get 3 City for gw 4 without any hits.

Tinker a bit and you can save the WC. 😉

Was chatting to Luke (d1sable) over the weekend and he was considering ditching the GW4 wildcard idea which oddly made me think about it and it seems a good idea.

Chances are I'll want 3 City players who I don't want to start the season with. Will have some good data on who is starting.

Only downside is transfer window wouldn't be shut.

I am under the impression that the following are the most nailed on (points potential also) defenders ( for < 5.0) from these teams.. correct me if I am wrong

    Swansea : Naughton
    West Ham : Jenkinson
    Watford : Prodl
    Bournemouth : Francis
    Leices : Huth

    1. Wilshere Knowledge

Williams for Swansea, rest looks right. (Naughton nailed, but Williams good on the BAPS)

Fernandez and Williams are 100% in the middle. Fernandez is much more of a threat from corners but Williams tends to get in the BPS. Naughton is definite first choice also, but we have more cover there so slightly more likely to have the occasional rest I suppose.

More than decent. He's gonna feed off those Silva's through balls. Expect him to work well with Agüero, like he did with Suarez.

With City all of a sudden seeming so weak defensively, the only way they're gonna win is by outcoring their opponents. Obviously, but you know what I mean.

What have we learned from the Arsenal-Chelsea game today? For me, here are some things:

    1) Bellerin is first choice RB. It is his to lose. Barring injury, suspension or a series of bad performances, he should keep his place.

    2) We should not be so sure over Walcott. Playing centrally didn't work today against a strong and physical team. I doubt Wenger would try that again against a physical and big team like WestHam. Giroud to be first choice CF imo. I am not sure if he is match fit though. Ox coming back means even more rotation as well. Sanchez will probably be ready by GW 3. Better stay with Ozil, Cazorla and Ramsey for now.

    3) Arsenal should be a good source for CS this season. Splashing the extra 0.5 for Arsenal defenders is probably worth it over the likes of Williams, Cedric,PVA etc.

    4) Arteta coming back impacts Cazorla slightly. Sure Cazorla is nailed on but I expect Arteta to replace him for the last 10-15 minutes of games already in the bag. Arteta could also get the odd start when there are CL games midweek.

    5) Chelsea have a big problem in the striker department. Remy looked poor. Falcao will need a lot of time. Having 2 Chelsea attacking players isn't very smart this early in the season.

    What did I miss?

How's this looking? Have £1.5 I can't seem to get rid of...

    Schmeichel (Schwarzer)
    Ivanovic Cedric Mings (Martin O'Shea)
    Hazard Walcott Mane Ritchie (Fletcher)
    Rooney Benteke Sakho

Yeah, that's the main upgrade I can see. Quite like Ritche v AVL first up and their opening fixtures in general though.

How about Sakho to Lukaku for gw1 and see how that works out? Could always swap back for Sakho's nice fixtures after that.

Very interesting. It's tempting. I just worry about planned transfers this early.

Yeah, if everything goes well I'll just need £1m for Aguero.
