As we mentioned earlier in the week, this season we’ll be working with a number of weekly Fantasy Football games in a bid to highlight some of the new offerings, whilst bringing you coverage of familiar platforms.

We’ve set up Tom Fenley, the 2013/14 Fantasy Premier League champion, to take on these games – arming him with £100 stake money in each.

He’ll be bringing you weekly articles on the games featured that week, tracking his progress as he plays.

The first of these new games will be Premier Punt.

What Is It?

Quite simply, Premier Punt is a Fantasy game that offers weekly and daily tournaments and allows you to play head-to-head or as part of a mini-league.

Not surprisingly, there are cash prizes on offer, with a free-to-play league offering a £100 pot each week.

For the first week of the season, that pot has been bumped up to £200.

Why Should I Play?

Primarily because Premier Punt is a simple step from playing Fantasy Premier League.

The game is one of several to mimic the FPL scoring model, translating it directly to a weekly game platform.

There’s no bonus points factored in but, aside from that, you’ll be able to select a team with the same principles as picking an XI in FPL, albeit with a Wildcard in place each week.

The player prices are set by Premier Punt’s own algorithm, so there is some thinking to be done each week – you won’t get away with translating your FPL lineup straight into your Punt XI.

Having said that, Tom’s Weekly shop article should help you out on that score and you can select up to three lineups each week to spread your risks and heavy-hitters.

With that in mind and £200 on offer in their free game for Gameweek 1, all you have to do is register to get involved from the off.

There’s more to come from Punt, too.

They’ve new game formats on the way, plus a mobile app, complete with a custom game set-up that makes it easier to play on the move.

How Do I Get Started?

You can register an account with Premier Punt here, without having to add credit card details or deposit funds.

Once registered, you need to select one of the games on offer – picking the Weekly Game type will give you access to the various tournaments on offer for Gameweek 1.

One of those is the free-to-enter Gameweek 1 contest with a prize pot of £200.

Simply select the weekly games, then choose your XI and then join up with the contest or “challenge” of your choice.

Look out for Tom Fenley’s Premier Punt article on Friday where he’ll be talking more about the game and the contests on offer and just how he’s spending his first slice of stake money ahead of Gameweek 1.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Hibbert is injured, he has a red flag and it means he needs more transfers out than a regular player to drop in price, if non of the 4m defenders is an actual starter, then Hibbert is the best 4m choice, because he is less likely to fall in price. Madness?

    Calling al Gooners…

I'm really struggling with Arsenal midfielders - I want one in my team but I'm losing confidence over who will play and I think points will get shared around as there's a lot of players who can get assists / goals form week to week so it could get shared around quite a bit?

I've put Ozil in my draft team for now, but am I missing something here???

Sánchez (rest for GW1 but must be the main man when he returns, right?)
Cazorla (worth a punt until Sanchez is back or go for Ozil?)
Ramsey (not really in form - watched him for Wales v Belgium and he wasn't the player he was at the stat of last season, will come good but not right now)
Özil (can disappear in some games or am I imagining this?)
Chamberlain (banged in a great goal in the charity shield, does this get him a place?)
Walcott (will he really play up front or will Giroud play 70+ minutes each week, Walcott also has form + injury potential as we all know but is great when he's on fire)
Wilshere (slight injury, think this could be a big year for him when he's back)
Rosicky (injured and only a sub anyway)
Arteta (just a sub these days?)

    Any tips?

          😎

A Wildcard in GW4 might not be such a bad idea.

United's fixtures turn bad, City's worthy of a double/triple up. Benteke looks good. Loads of cheapy sides change for the best/worst too.
