As we mentioned earlier in the week, this season we’ll be working with a number of weekly Fantasy Football games in a bid to highlight some of the new offerings, whilst bringing you coverage of familiar platforms.

We’ve set up Tom Fenley, the 2013/14 Fantasy Premier League champion, to take on these games – arming him with £100 stake money in each.

He’ll be bringing you weekly articles on the games featured that week, tracking his progress as he plays.

The first of these new games will be Premier Punt.

What Is It?

Quite simply, Premier Punt is a Fantasy game that offers weekly and daily tournaments and allows you to play head-to-head or as part of a mini-league.

Not surprisingly, there are cash prizes on offer, with a free-to-play league offering a £100 pot each week.

For the first week of the season, that pot has been bumped up to £200.

Why Should I Play?

Primarily because Premier Punt is a simple step from playing Fantasy Premier League.

The game is one of several to mimic the FPL scoring model, translating it directly to a weekly game platform.

There’s no bonus points factored in but, aside from that, you’ll be able to select a team with the same principles as picking an XI in FPL, albeit with a Wildcard in place each week.

The player prices are set by Premier Punt’s own algorithm, so there is some thinking to be done each week – you won’t get away with translating your FPL lineup straight into your Punt XI.

Having said that, Tom’s Weekly shop article should help you out on that score and you can select up to three lineups each week to spread your risks and heavy-hitters.

With that in mind and £200 on offer in their free game for Gameweek 1, all you have to do is register to get involved from the off.

There’s more to come from Punt, too.

They’ve new game formats on the way, plus a mobile app, complete with a custom game set-up that makes it easier to play on the move.

How Do I Get Started?

You can register an account with Premier Punt here, without having to add credit card details or deposit funds.

Once registered, you need to select one of the games on offer – picking the Weekly Game type will give you access to the various tournaments on offer for Gameweek 1.

One of those is the free-to-enter Gameweek 1 contest with a prize pot of £200.

Simply select the weekly games, then choose your XI and then join up with the contest or “challenge” of your choice.

Look out for Tom Fenley’s Premier Punt article on Friday where he’ll be talking more about the game and the contests on offer and just how he’s spending his first slice of stake money ahead of Gameweek 1.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Sinclair is definitely likelier to score than Sakho in GW1, Westwood isn't. An assist, quite possibly, but it's hard to see the decision yielding more than a 4-5 point swing in Westwood's favour, whilst Sakho could always grab a goal on the break and make you feel very silly...

Which other 4.5 defender would you go for? I think Advocaat will have them reasonably solid at the back and Sunderland have a few 4.5 options. Wes Brown is a red card waiting to happen though.

Ivanovic is a long term pick, plus those assists and few odd goals come in handy..my defence template is a 3 man team of two premiums and a 3 man rotation...hence Ivan and Kos

And Jose saw it coming and persuaded Begovic to sit on the Chelsea bench.

Amateur hour at United for the last 5 years.

Desperate to be the new Real Madrid signing any star who is available regardless of if they fit the league/first team needs/ ethos of the club.

For all the stars they have bought or want to buy, Schneiderlein will be the best purchase.

How can they not be in for stones? Surely the hottest young English talent is everything United are about. Leave it to the newly rich to play fantasy football with petro dollars.

Normally at the start of the season I stay away from the "smaller" clubs who quallify for Europe. Its mainly because of increased risk of rotation, tiredness after a midweek game. For this reason I am not choosing any Southampton/West Ham players. Does this seem like some half reasonable logic or am I just over thinking it?

You could also put it those teams gel much faster than other teams that doesn't play as many games in the beginning of the season.

Beginning of season it's ok to play 2 games a week, it's only later in the season that it rightfully takes its toll on players.

That's what I'm thinking as well. Just feels weird not having neither Kun, Costa, Haz or Fab...

So it's down to this for me.

    A. Ozil & Sterling
    B. Walcott & Depay

The latter have the potential to be so explosive! But the former are likely to start..

    Which pair?

Why the hell has Bakary Sako gone to Crystal Palace? The competition for places on the wing is crazy and he won't play many games. Everton would have been better because they have fewer really good wingers.
