As always on a Friday, we focus our attentions on FantasyBet, as I continue my quest to turn my £100 pot into profit.
For those unfamiliar, the initial player prices and scoring system in Fantasy Bet are very similar to Fantasy Premier League, making it an accessible weekly and daily format for those who pay a lot of attention to the official game.
FantasyBet once again has a £1000 guaranteed pot available for a £5.50 entry fee this Gameweek. For the high rollers, there’s also a £500 game and a £100 Super Sunday contest that both require a £22.00 stake.
There’s also a Sunday game available for a £1.10 fee, with a £75 guaranteed pot, which takes in Spurs against Palace, Liverpool against Norwich and Southampton versus United at St Mary’s. For the flash format this week, there’s a £100 guaranteed game available for £11.00 as well as the regular £50 free-roll.
In the Weekly Shop article I was considering the merits of picking two Manchester City midfielders but with Sergio Aguero earning some midweek minutes against Juventus, I’ve made a team with the Argentine striker and entered it into the £100 free-roll. Given that City host West Ham, I’ve gone for a full quota of their players as the spine of the team, with David Silva and Aleksandar Kolarov also both claiming a spot.
Apart from City, the other standout home teams this week are Liverpool and Bournemouth, as they welcome Norwich and Sunderland respectively. Both sides contribute two players in the backline. From the Merseysiders, Nathaniel Clyne and Martin Skrtel get the nod due to their attacking threat. The Cherries raiding right-back Simon Francis is selected for the same reason and is joined by Artur Boruc between the posts. I’ve fully stocked up on assets from those sides – alongside Aguero, I’ve gone with the two strikers mentioned in the Weekly Shop, Christian Benteke and Callum Wilson.
I’ve decided to try a 4-3-3 team this week so needed two players in midfield next to David Silva. The sensational Riyad Mahrez’ form is difficult to overlook, while Scott Sinclair completes the midfield as West Brom visit Villa Park for the midlands derby. I’ve got two more Villa players on the bench in Jordan Amavi and Jack Grealish, while Andre Ayew is the primary reserve as Everton visit the Liberty Stadium.
The Bottom Line
I had a bit more staked than normal last week, with entry fees leaving the pot around £10 down. I went through my picks for the Flash free-roll team last week in this article and it came 8th out of 218 teams, bringing in £1.00. I also won £9.00 for a 17th place finish from the 111 entries in the £1000 guaranteed game. Overall, I start this Gameweek with just under £100.
This Week’s Stake
Weekly – After making some profit in the £1000 game, I’m parting with the £5.50 again. I’m also taking part in both £100 guaranteed games, the ‘Cheap Weekly’ game for £1.10 and the free-roll. I also put a team in the Flash free-roll.
Daily – For Saturday I’ve entered the Double-up contest once again. It’s £3.30 but there’s a £70 pot that’s shared between the players that finish in the top half of entries. Then, for Sunday, I enter the cheap Sunday game for £1.10 aiming to get some of the £75 on offer there.
Stake – £12.10
Current balance – £86.96
FFScout Picks League
I’ve created a £1.10 entry game in which I will enter our Scout Picks as closely as possible, given a 15-man squad is required with the 100m budget. Feel free to go up against them this week and pick your own squad on FantasyBet.
