It’s time to assess my progress in PlayON this afternoon as our Friday regular is rolled out again. Armed with an opening pot of £100 for each game, I’ve been tasked with turning that cash into profit and will be updating you on how I’m getting on prior to the start of each Gameweek.

There’s £2,500 available in guaranteed pots this week in www.PlayON.co as well as £150 on offer in free-to-enter games. For the weekly timeframe there’s the usual £1000 guaranteed contest for £5.50 entry as well as the £100 game for £1.10.

For those willing to stake more, though, there are £20 and £50 fee games for pots of £500 and £250 respectively. In the daily time frames, there’s a £250 guaranteed contest on both Saturday and Sunday for £5.50 and also £25 free entry games on both days. You can view all games in the Games Lobby here.

I’ll be putting five teams into the weekly £100 free-roll game, so will run through one of those entries below…

My Team
Firstly, I’ve gone for Artur Boruc as my keeper – the price tag of 6.1m looks set to offer value as Sunderland make the long trip down to Dean Court. Bournemouth team-mate Simon Francis (6.6m) finds a place in the backline along with another player mentioned in the Weekly Shop, Jordan Amavi, the Villa left-back costs 6.8m this week. I’ve gone for four full-backs in defence, Daryl Janmaat (6.8m) picked up eight assists last season so finds a place as Newcastle host Watford. I proposed the inclusion of Joe Gomez (6.3m) in the Weekly Shop but have some extra funds so pick Nathaniel Clyne (7.8m) instead as Norwich travel to Anfield.

In midfield, I have Jack Grealish (7.5m) – the Villa youngster should start against West Brom after netting last week against Leicester. Andre Ayew (9m) has scored in Swansea’s last two home matches so finds a spot despite facing an Everton side that have kept back-to-back clean sheets on the road. I’ve gone with double City midfielders with space for both David Silva (14m) and Yaya Toure (12.5m). For the forwards, I’ve backed Christian Benteke (11.6m) – the Liverpool striker could bag a third goal of the season against a Canaries side that are yet to record a shut-out this term. Last but not least, I’m backing Harry Kane (11.1m) to deliver a first goal of the campaign as Crystal Palace visit White Hart Lane.

The Bottom Line

My pot continues to diminish with the worst run I’ve ever had in PlayON. I can’t seem to catch a break so far this season and have been damaged – as many have – by continuing to back big-hitters like Sergio Aguero and Alexis Sanchez. I’m now down to £70.64 and really need to pick up some wins. I failed to win a single game in Gameweek 5, things can only get better though?

This Week’s Stake

Weekly – I put the customary five entries into the £100 freeroll. I also enter the £100 game that has a £1.10 fee and three head-to-heads for the same stake.

Daily – The full quota of teams goes into the free £25 games.

Stake – £4.40
Current Balance – £66.24

As a PlayON Pro it’s possible for you to challenge me one-on-one in all three time-frames this week – these games are not included in the £100 challenge and operate separately.

If you’ve finished tinkering with your Fantasy Premier League team, why not head on over to PlayON to get involved. Line-ups can be chosen and altered up to the first kick-off of each time frame.

I'm def doing the Sagna trade, should I do the Huth one or save the FT for next week? Don't want to lose .1 on Huth and eager for another West Brom defender

Yeah I've heard that rumour but haven't followed his career enough to know if that is actually true or not or just one of those FFS things, were somebody says it then everybody just repeats it lol

Hey hat. Just had chicken and greens for lunch.

      What's with the Sagna move?

Hugh isn't really moving, just a few transfers out each day.

Oh! I could have sworn he was on 99% last night on FPLStats, he is back down to 90% now...will wait for that trade

Sagna move is simply because Kolarov has more potential and I haven't got any more pressing issues

I'm not sure what I will have lunch today...maybe some Japanese

I have watched Huth every day this week. He gets to around 95-8% and then falls back again. This is because so few are getting rid and wild cards don't count.
Keep a eye though. The biggest movement comes tonight.

    Play three.

    Gomez (NOR H)
    Richards (WBA H)
    Kolarov (WHM H)
    Cathcart (NEW A)
    Naughton (EVE H)

Currently on the first 3 but I'm kinda worry that Watford will keep a clean sheet once again.

My defence is now a mess...
    KOMPANY - SHAW - Williams - Richards - Oxford

2FT, hate using both on defenders so what you reckon?

A: Shaw -> Bellerin/Dawson & play Richards instead of Kompany.
    B: Kompany & Shaw -> Kolarov & Bellerin/Dawson.

Thing is, I want Kompany when he's back, so leaning towards A.

Pretty much the same front 7 as me.
Can't decide between Silva and Mahrez for the armband? You sticking with Mahrez?

I'll probs stick with Mahrez, purely cos no one in my ML has him and I've got him in a goal scorer treble haha

because Martial will threaten Mata's position. Depay is most nailed and is due for a goal.. I'm considering him or Ayew for my Pedro replacement

      Yaya ➡ Silva.

making my decision now and then not looking back for the rest of the week. I have Pedro, he is worth holding onto because of the fixtures after this gw, however Ayew is tempting

    a) Pedro > Ayew

    or

    b) play Prodl

      Play prodl.

Pedro might even play according to Mourinho earlier

    Transfer done: Mings ----> Moreno

Leaves me with this team; how does it look? Bench in the right order?

I think the new BP system will benefit him or Clyne heavily if they are used as wingbacks in a 3-4-2-1

As much as I don't rate him defensively he gets very forward so it should make the Norwich game exciting.

IF he starts of course 😕 (which I hope he does after Gomez' clanger in Europe)

Gomez' clanger? Must of missed that. Moreno was impressive though.

Was arguably at fault for Bordeaux's equaliser along with Brannagan but he might still get a start as "Team News" suggests

I would nearly play Huth over Evens

Playing against his old club too how many times do we see players scoring against their old clubs he is well able for clean sheet too

2 week punt for Liverpool's juicy home games then I'm wildcarding, so I'm not all that bothered if he doesn't start. Just a short-term option within my 4.9m budget 😀

I think Leicester and Evans have the same chance of a clean sheet but what swayed it for me is the fact that Pulis has only conceded against Chelsea and City so far (which is forgivable)

I know Sherwood attacks a lot but I reckon Pulis' experience should be able to deal with it.

And Leicester haven't impressed me at the back so far. Butland should get save points even if Mahrez or Leicester cause a problem. I'd rather not put all my eggs in the one basket with Schmeichel and Huth

Got alot of money but used the FT for Mings --> Dawson (opted against getting Coutinho for Wanyama and using AOA chip) Any glaring holes here?

    McCarthy Hennessey
    Kolarov Dawson Huth
    Yaya Ayew Hazard Mahrez
    Aguero(C) Gomis Wilson

    Hennesey Cedric Coates Wanyama

    1) How does the team look for the GW?

    Schmeichel
    Bellerin Kolarov Francis
    Sanchez yaya Mane Mahrez
    Aguero Benteke Wilson

    Hennessey; Fletcher, Targett, Huth

    2) Who to captain? Benteke or Aguero?

Everyone seems to want to get rid of Pedro, I appreciate he's an injury doubt but he's started well for Chelsea. Had a great record at Barcelona...
