Forget two fat ladies, in ScoutCast Bingo it’s all about three men with paunches chatting Fantasy Football fortunes, rattling out a few familiar clichés along the way.

Thanks to Numb’s witty community contribution, this week’s episode finds us gripping our dabbers in preparation for mispronunciations, dropped connections and a regular helping of “blimeys”.

Around those fun and games, we tackle the serious matters – assessing the merits of Sergio Aguero, Callum Wilson’s replacements and my range of Christmas jumpers.

All those hard-hitting issues are addressed via another round of community questions, following on from our review of Gameweek 7 as Granville fights the urge to gloat having opened up a 40 point lead over yours truly.

This episode of the ScoutCast was broadcast live on our YouTube channel on Wednesday evening. You can view the full Google Hangout on the larger player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Evening comrades

Thought I'd pop on over to assuage any fears regarding Jamie Vardy's dodgy Carpals. He has been playing with a cast since a fall versus Villa on the 13th September.

It's fair to say that if the medical staff allowed him to play then the fracture is minor in severity, is stable and unlikely to displace and will heal in a few weeks. As he was allowed to play, it is healing fine and by now it wont be far off healed.

To compound this Vardy is not a light weight, he learned the game in the rough and tumble of the lower leagues. The proper lower leagues, The Evo-Stick leagues 🙂

They don't make them like that anymore. It's all about looks not game play. Saying that I've not had a console for about 10 years so I wouldn't know 😀

I don't play that much myself now really, although i do have spells. I don't have a ps4 or xbox one, still playing ps3

Love the Metal Gear Solid series, played em all. Heavy Rain and The Last Of Us were real good too. I play a bit of FIFA still, career mode, played it since the Mega-Drive.

i still have a 2600 with about 30 games and a Vectrex, remember those? it had its own TV screen with Asteroids built in. It also released the first talking game, Spike. I also have a Spectrum 48k and a couple of original Binatone style consoles...sad eh

You needed 128k to play Spellbound Dizzy. Otherwise it crashed when you spoke to Shamus the Leprachaun. It needed a whole new machine just for that.

Same here. My first 48k whe I got it second hand had several keys which didn't work. I didn't have a clue what was wrong with it. So many classic games but all were so much more difficult than the ones of today.

Yeah, it was amazing. I installed an emulator on my Mac the other day just to play a few of the classic titles (Speedball, Xenon II, Speedball, OutRun, IK+ :D).

Didn't discover the internet until I went to Uni as it was an academic network thing back then, but I have a twin brother so we'd spend hours playing, arguing and having rematches to the early hours. Such sad do's 😉

You could pretty much swerve it in from anywhere from about the halfway line. So much of my life was wasted on that game. How many joysticks were ripped in two playing that game.

Yes. Ours was £10 second hand. In an era when a lot of homes had no computer and the classroom BBC was as close as many got to one, that still felt pretty special. Geez, I sound like my parents when they talk about television. 🙂

Well Hypnodisc got a 6 month injury. Sergent Bash was still injured and frankly wasn't setting the world on fire as my 5th midfield. My mate beat me in a H2H for the first time last week and I was hoping to do him by 100% this season. I wanted Sir Killalot and I wanted a better defensive rotation. I could have got away with a hit or two but I know I would have been underperforming Matilda leaving to go to Villa really cheesed me off.

Best game of all time IMO. Impossible to complete. There was one room where you continually died if you went in and you couldn't get round it. Can't remember which one.

We had a BBC computer in school with its floppy disks so we could load and play snake lol.

I remember one of my schools have an Archimedes. It had a gravity game controlled by the mouse (using the button as thrust), and was the first time I'd seen a game with 3D graphics. I'd take every opportunity to go to the library to play it!

We had the BBC at school. I seem to remember a great game where you controlled trains on a track by opening and closing gates and everything gradually got quicker.

Ha, Populus! Used to spend hours left clicking and right clicking to level out the land so your fort could expand to a castle. That game must have inspired so many of the clones such as Age of Empires and latest mobile games.

I don't remember Intellivision at all, Gnu. We had to drive 20 miles to our nearest computer game shop and a month to save up enough pocket money for a game. Still remember how excited I was at picking up Spy Hunter!

Came out in '79, released in Europe in '82 according to Wiki.
Brother bought a lot of stuff from the states at that time so it would have been about then.

Just remembered Ranarama on the Spectrum, many lost hours on that one too.

I suspect Dizzy sucked up most of my Spectrum days. Did you ever have Streetfighter 2 on the spectrum that had the longest loading times to play a brief (slow) fight in yellow and black. So boring but pretty amazing they could do it at all.

Intellivision was another classic, it had the best specs of any machine at that time, had some great games and a good, advanced football game. It was expensive and the Atari became ubiquitous, but the Intellivision was a better machine. I think the pad let it down a bit ultimately, it was a bit fiddly

There's this great script a well-known poster on another forum by the name of 'nickchild' made that displays team data on the league page in FPL. I'm unsure if I can link this forum, so this is his post:

'" From the league page in FPL it adds the following data to the table for each team:
    - Live GW score
    - Live total score (including any transfer hits for the GW)
    - GW captain (and vice-captain on rollover)
    - Team value
    - Bank funds
    - Total value (team + bank)
    - Total transfers
    - GW transfers
    - GW transfers points hit
    - Wildcard availability
    - Associated H2H league position (see below)
    - Starting XI and bench (see below)
    - Playing stats (rollover to show who has played, yet to play, didn't play, plus number of games remaining in the case of a double GW)
    - Chips - shows which chips have been played with an alert if one is active for the current GW)
    - Quick picks - quickly select a default data set (see below)

Each of these values can easily be turned on or off using a panel below the league. There are also shortcuts to turn all options on/off as well as two quick picks; one for 'Live Data' which is best used as soon as a GW goes live (shows captain, live points, playing stats and chip info) and the other for 'Team Info' which is best used once all games are complete and the build up to the next GW has started (transfer stats, wildcard and chip info and team/bank value).

You can sort the table by clicking any of the column headers.

You can see the starting XI and bench for each team by clicking on the corresponding position movement indicator (far left arrow icon). Click on the column header to show all teams squads. You can hover over each player here to see their current GW score.

The 'Associated H2H league position' is calculated by looking for a H2H league name that starts the same as the current league. For example, 'XXXX' League has a H2H named the same, I am also in another league with an associated H2H - '£10 league option' which maps to '£10 league option:H2H'.

If you think you might find this useful, you will need the Firefox add-on 'Greasemonkey' or 'Tampermonkey' on Chrome. Once this is enabled you can install the script by clicking the following link:

    https://openuserjs.org/install/nickchild/FPL_get_team_info.user.js "

      fplstatistic %s:

      Sakho 95%
Vardy 82.2% (FPLstats are still way off with the 3rd rise of a week)

      Buckley -89.7%
      Fellaini -100.2%
      Hooper -94.7%

There were seven low ownership players between -100% and -100.8% who did not fall.

Probably not, imo. Take it as a rough guide (like the Frisking Fixtures article), I wouldn't feel all too comfortable playing my defense against a menacing Lukaku & Barkley if I have the option. Palace attack is less threatening & so is Bournemouth with Murray ät the hélm, imo

Looking at the Opta stats for Chances Conceded..how is it oriented?

Is Chances Conceded (Left) mean the leftback is at fault, or the opponent's left wing? I imagine it's the former.

So in terms of chances conceded (left):

NEW, WHM, CPL, NOR and EVE have weak left flanks, hence attackers from the opposing team's right should do well against these teams.

I used this for daily fantasy, and picked Janmaat two weeks ago when he played against Watford, ended up getting me a goal and lots of dollars.

I mentioned this idea during the day and just thought I would post it again to see what people thought or how best to achieve it:

Would anyone agree that it would be fun to team up with one other member and do a tourament based upon tag team.

You can choose which of the two teams you put out each week verses another combo. Every few weeks you have a joint week where both of your teams have to play against another team. Then maybe twice a season you have a Royal Rumble where you maybe compete with 7 other teams with the winner getting something like 10 x the regular win points. It could make the final games of the season quite exciting.

Ospina was great back end of last season though. 50% clean sheet rate or something so although i agree he should of played Cech he has a right to think Ospina should do well

Just a thought on that - Arsenal should have been able to deal with Olympiakos regardless of who the keeper is. It feels like it's tactics/attitude that are an issue in Europe as much as personnel

        1. Doolittle
          • 13 Years
          10 years, 2 months ago

Yes, agreed completely, the main issue - far more than personnel - is Wenger's tactics. I've said many times; it's astonishing that a manger with 20 years CL experience can be so consistently naive. He repeats the same mistakes over and over again, how did he not learn from Anderlecht/Monaco?

However, he still has to take responsibility for not playing a top goalkeeper in what was effectively a must win game. Why not play your strongest team!? It wasn't a 1st round League Cup game against Wrexham.

"The “HoF Rating” is based on your points scores from previous FPL seasons, with the latest season weighted the heaviest and each corresponding season weighted at roughly 80% that of the previous season. So, in other words, those who performed best in 2011/12 will receive a bigger HoF Rating boost from those who did best in 2006/07. The “HoF Ranking” even allows for those with missing years, adapting the formula accordingly to allow to rank alongside the veterans of the FPL."

I've played for longer than 4 seasons, but this is my history on my account now:

    2011/12 2195 6061
    2012/13 2258 3708
    2013/14 2278 113766
    2014/15 2275 1661

I'm currently around 400th in Hof, would i expect to see a big jump if i finish in the top 5k? And is personal best weighted heavier than consistency in terms of top 10k finishes for example? As in, would i need to break the top 500 to really see a big jump?

You would get a nice jump.
Mark got 190K then 42nd last season for a massive jump.
It's more of a form HoF.

      1. Demí
        • 14 Years
        10 years, 2 months ago

Makes sense i guess, with the latest season weighted heaviest. So even though the 190k finish was recent and therefore weighted strongly in comparison to his previous years, you can still negate that

A lot harder to finish in the top 500 than the top 1000 where the points split between 500 and 1000 is quite large by the end of the season so more HoF points are given.
One guy in his debut season came 114th and was 13th last season. He's back to 32nd now @ 836K

Mane's 2 fixtures over International Break

8/10 vs Egypt & 13/10 (Tuesday) vs Algeria

He will NOT be playing 16/10 (Friday) qualifier vs Guinea.

It's true Koeman has often rested him after the Int. Break but don't take it for granted. Like Mahrez he will have more than 50 hours to recover which should be enough IMO. Koeman must have already realized how vital he is for the team as last time resting him resulted in defeat. He won't be having any midweek game after Leicester game so I think Mane rest after Int. Break myth will be busted this time around. Worth noting this is exactly the kind of fixture Mane would love to tear apart especially with Leicester's defensive form. If you really want him don't let that factor deter your judgement.

I just realized I've been conflating Eden Hazardous and you into the same person. My apologies.

Mane should be a good pick after the break, for sure.

Roberto Martinez is speaking to the media ahead of the Liverpool derby.

Asked about the fitness of John Stones and Seamus Coleman: "It's too early to tell, they're progressing well but in their next two sessions we'll get an idea. Clearly we'll make a decision as late as we can"

    Pardew talking up Souare:

“I’ve been impressed with his consistency this year. Long may that continue.

“Papa will score some goals for us this year. He’s good in the air and gets in the box. He’s a good crosser of the ball.

“But the most important thing is his defensive ability. That’s what sets him apart at the moment.”

    Hey DZ

Just woken up in the middle of my sleep to see Sterling is going down. He's my next planned transfer anyway, is it worth taking him out for a hit to save the 0.1. I've already lost that on him before

two good fixtures though and he's a starter. I wouldn't worry about 0.1m if you want him for those fixtures. if you don't that's different.

Mata is in form and has a weaker Arsenal defence to play. Not the greatest fixtures is holding quite a few back for a few GWs.

      Aguero Sakho Ighalo

Yaya is crocked so I won't risk C on him. My prob with KdB is his price combined with Kun is a big chunk. So many other good Mids who are scoring well makes me think I'd be better off with Mata instead. However his fixtures are awful!!
