Our regular quest for the unfashionable and underused finds us turning to Stoke’s own Lionel Messi impersonator, Palace’s wide-man turned striker and an Arsenal asset set to benefit from Aaron Ramsey’s injury.

Bojan Krkic

A three-match winning streak has augmented the appeal of Stoke’s attacking recruits, with the return of Bojan Krkic proving the catalyst to a turnaround in form. The former Barcelona graduate steered the Potters to victory over Swansea last Monday with a spot-kick, marking his second goal in four outings that have harvested ten points for the Staffordshire outfit.

Notwithstanding his classification as a forward by the Fantasy Premier League, the 5.3-priced Bojan – who operates from the number-ten berth – could still offer great value by virtue of his budget price tag and penalty duty.

Since ending their six-match winless spell, Stoke have improved on the attacking front – as evidenced by the fact that only five teams amassed more big chances (seven) over the last three Gameweeks. Next on the agenda for Mark Hughes’ men is a home tie against Watford, who rank third for big chances conceded (11) in the last four, before trips to Sunderland and Newcastle in the following four afford Bojan further opportunities to strengthen his case as a cut-price frontman.

Yannick Bolasie

Yannick Bolasie (6.2) hasn’t set the world alight this season – notching one goal in eight appearances – but he’s posted some impressive underlying statistics that hint towards imminent attacking returns. During the last four Gameweeks, only seven midfielders tallied more shots on target (five) than the DR Congo international, who ranked joint-top among his Crystal Palace counterparts for total attempts (10).

Bolasie will be licking his lips ahead of the Eagles’ trip to Leicester City for two reasons: Palace have been dominant away from home (only losing to Manchester City) and the Foxes’ defence has been generous over the last five Gameweeks (12 goals conceded). Palace rank fourth for big chances (11) in road matches, with the top three for that metric having played one more away fixture. Meanwhile, Claudio Ranieri’s charges place top for goals conceded (10) and second for shots inside the box conceded (47) at home.

What’s more, with Alan Pardew deprived of first choice striker options, Bolasie could again be tasked with leading the line as he did at Spurs earlier in the season.

The Eagles square up to Manchester United (home) and Liverpool (away) in their subsequent two fixtures, before embarking on back-to-back home ties against Sunderland and Newcastle United. Aside from the favourable meetings with the North-East clubs, Bolasie could come up trumps against the Red Devils, given that they’ve conceded seven goals in their last four away ties.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Now that Aaron Ramsey has been ruled out for at least a month with a hamstring complaint, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will be hoping to cement a run of starts on the Arsenal right wing.

Given that the rest of Arsene Wenger’s attacking midfielders are priced in the premium bracket, Oxlade-Chamberlain – at a cost of just 5.6 in FPL – serves as a more affordable way to double up on the red-hot Gunners. Granted, his acquisition could be a gamble if Wenger opts for Theo Walcott on the right to accommodate Olivier Giroud, but we feel the Arsenal boss will be reluctant to tinker too much with a winning formula and thus allow Walcott to continue as the lone striker.

Certainly, the stats back up Arsenal’s swashbuckling form. Over the last three Gameweeks, only Manchester City (12) tallied more goals (11) than Wenger’s side, while no team matched the North London outfit’s haul of shots inside the box (45). As such, one would expect Oxlade-Chamberlain to be afforded his fair share of goal scoring opportunities.

Assuming Ramsey is sidelined for the four weeks, Oxlade-Chamberlain could earn starts against Everton, Swansea, Tottenham and West Brom. Although that quartet of fixtures is far from plain sailing, Arsene Wenger’s troops will feel confident in their ability to punish any side, bearing in mind they’ve beaten the likes of Manchester United and Bayern Munich in recent matches.

Vardy for me. Underlying stats, form. fixture, plus goal involvement swung it for me. Also Wenger's comments about Sanchez being tired created a small question mark over the Chilean.

Good luck all, whoever you pick.

Yup Vardy slightly better option this week than Sanchez although I dont have Vardy 🙁 . Everton are no mug, expect them to be defensively solid and play on the counter. 3 games in a week is just too much for any player plus he hardly had a rest since back in the team which might effect his overall performance.

Vardy. Form, home fixture and it seems that whoever he plays against he sticks a couple in the net. Arsenal at home, Southampton away. Palace at home could be a goal fest. Payet could be a nice differential. Chelsea still not solid at the back at West Ham are in good form. He's often good for a goal and/or a couple of assists. He's on set pieces and most crosses into the box come from him. Hazard is too risky IMO. He amazingly isn't even guaranteed to start. League's best player last season and now his place in the team in doubt. What is going on at Chelsea???? That said, Costa is a great choice as well. If they are going to score, Costa will be involved.
All that said, I'm still going Vardy!

Vardy. Attacking team, playing another attacking team. Is focal point of their attack, great form, Could be on pens if Mahrez is benched. Sanchez fatigue concerns.

Watching the Bayern game, Alexis looked really tiered and made many mistakes. There was also something in his eye, I felt he was loosing confidence as the game went on. So for me it's easy this week, Vardy gets the armband.

(C)evin De Bruyne. I have Sanchez and Vardy too, but I've got a gut feeling going with De Bruyne. He's beat Bayern single handedly before, I don't think the fixture will mean much. I feel Sanchez will start to dry up now, and as for Vardy I'm just hoping CPL pull something off.

I don't know why I'm picking a differential though, I'm quite ahead in most of my leagues...hopefully I didn't give everyone else a chance to get back in the game

I mean.. Chelsea are better than Swansea and West Ham are better than Villa. But Villa dont concede that many chances and Swansea are really struggling atm. Pretty easy choice for me, even though Chelsea traveled far and played a tough CL game a few days ago.

Richards, they're going to squeeze out a clean sheet eventually, Swansea aren't looking great, and Richards himself looks to be getting the odd decent chance to score going by MOTD, surely he'll put one away eventually.

In my head, other people getting rid of Sako makes him more likely to start and score.

In reality I should never have bought in the first place.

Not a rotation risk. There were reasons behind his benching, not anymore.

If you get a haul one game, then play Arsenal the week after and blank, that doesn't mean stats are showing regression.

        No Danielson.

        Play Pelle over a defender.

Look eye, you must always look eye 🙂

The order of the bench is right but Pelle shouldn't be on it

Like many people here, I am still unsure who to (c) out of Vardy and Sanchez. Never was this unsure on captain choice a few hours before the deadline.

When in doubt, maybe go Mahrez for captaincy? Should be fresh.

I feel like Vardy has a goal in him. but I am second guessing a big haul. which leads me more to Sanchez. Just can't settle on this one.

Remember you have a few extra hours to torture yourself this week ... 2pm deadline ... I want to go Vardy but have the fear as I think my rival will go Sanchez ....

I am also in the fear of Sanchez C from my rival. this is the big hesitation this week.

If I go Vardy and he Sanchez and it doesn't work will not look good..

      Lloris

      Walker - Bellerin - Cameron

      Wijnaldum - Walcott - Sanchez - Mahrez

      Gomis - Diouf - Costa

      Subs : Butland - Mane - Souare - Galloway

Thoughts on the Starting XI and who to captain 😀 ? .. currently I have the armband on Walcott 😀

Butland ahead of Hugo. Mane ahead of Gomis.

I really like the Walcott choice, go for it!

Looks good mate, but will Diouf start? I might be tempted to play Mane ahead of either Diouf/Gomis

Well I certinally hope he does, he could be a very good differential in my opinion :D, so I'm going to take the risk 😀 .. but I might reconsider Gomis

          Thanks bro

My gut is telling me that he would keep scoring. Or it could be stubbornness that I haven't had any of his 9 goals this season

I guess we might find out that some players haven't travelled to the ground in advance, but other than that everything will most likely still be speculation.

You'll get cast-iron teamsheets at 2pm - more than just speculation.

It is if you're quick. A few of the early game teamsheets have come out before lockdown so far this season.

True. The last minute transfer challenge could happen with a 2pm (ish) lockdown. The worst that could happen is you miss the deadline and save a transfer. Not for me, though - I'll be travelling to a match.

Never a great idea having an 8m player on the bench IMO. The only way to avoid this is to get a 4.5m mid and not get yourself into these situations

If Mahrez is tactically benched to counteract pace then surely their is a risk of him
