Wednesday evening finds us popping out for the Weekly Shop, plundering the player lists of our partner games to assess the likely targets that will make up our weekend lineups.

Our analysis of the options is split into two sections: I’ll breakdown the key targets that no squad can do without in “Better Buys”, before seeking out those one-shot “Poundstretcher” prospects that can provide us points, whilst freeing up funds.

For this week’s selection, we’re scanning the players lists in our two partner games – FantasyBet and Premier Punt.

Better Buys

Manchester United may be struggling in attack but have been defensively sound with four shut-outs in five: they’ve conceded just a single goal at Old Trafford to date.

That ensures that David de Gea (FantasyBet 5.5m, Premier Punt 9m) is the standout option across the weekly games. The Spaniard has made three or more saves in four of his seven league appearances so far, with his shot-stopping abilities earning two bonus points against Crystal Palace in United’s previous outing. Given West Brom’s lack of punch, it’s difficult to see De Gea being breached at Old Trafford.

Jurgen Klopp’s reliance on full-backs to provide the attacking width within his system has Alberto Moreno (FantasyBet 5m, Premier Punt 8.4m) promoted up from the Poundstretcher classification. Moreno’s raiding runs down the flank have resulted in the left-back having more goal attempts (six) over the last three than any other defender. Liverpool welcome a Crystal Palace side that have scored just once in their last three matches on the road.

Riyad Mahrez (FantasyBet 6.5m, Premier Punt 9.9m) proved once again that ignoring his talents can be damaging; a brace against West Brom brought his total for the season to seven goals in 11 matches. The Algerian’s consistency has been a huge asset and, having blanked on just three occasions so far, I’m finding it difficult to look beyond Mahrez heading into the home meeting with Watford.

Arsenal have won five successive league matches and have averaged three goals a game over that run. Mesut Ozil (FantasyBet 8.5m, Premier Punt 13.3m) has been the prime architect for that impressive record with seven assists and a goal, making the German playmaker a must-have in Sunday’s north London derby. Team-mate Olivier Giroud (FantasyBet 9m, Premier Punt 14m) is also one to consider, with a goal in each of his last three – the Frenchman remains assured of starts with Theo Walcott sidelined.

Elsewhere in attack, I’m currently assessing Christian Benteke (FantasyBet 8.5m, Premier Punt 13m) as a key candidate. The Belgian has suffered limited pitch time but he looks certain to start against Palace and has scored in three of his last four Premier League outings. Carrying on from Villa last season, Benteke now has 15 goals in 19 top-flight appearances: that makes him impossible to ignore.

Poundstretchers

Leicester picked up their first clean sheet of the season in their previous match at the King Power and Kasper Schmeichel (FantasyBet 4.5m, Premier Punt 7.6m) will be eager to improve on that record with the visit of promoted Watford. Odion Ighalo will be a major threat if he recovers from a knock, but, despite his form, I foresee another call to the Pizza Parlour for Ranieri’s men.

I’m also looking at Jeffrey Schlupp in FantasyBet, where he’s classified as a 5.0 defender. Whilst confidence in Leicester’s defence is understandably shaky, few can doubt their devastating attacking threat. Schlupp, on the left-flank or even in the number ten role, looks a very handy defensive differential.

Sunderland have conceded two or more goals seven times this season, which has me lean towards Southampton’s assets as they drop in on the Stadium of Light this weekend. Dusan Tadic (FantasyBet 7m, Premier Punt 10.8m) has outscored Sadio Mane (FantasyBet 8m, Premier Punt 12.1m) overall after picking up an assist against Bournemouth and is also a cheaper alternative to Graziano Pelle (FantasyBet 8m, Premier Punt 12.2m).

We drop in on Bournemouth for our budget striker pick this week. Glenn Murray (FantasyBet 6m, Premier Punt 7.6m) has two in four for Eddie Howe’s side and the veteran frontman could be up against Newcastle’s fourth choice keeper, with Robert Elliot the latest to be struck by injury.

These are the contenders for my weekly contest lineups heading into the weekend. I’ll return on Friday with a further assessment of this week’s partner games – FantasyBet and Premier Punt, as I continue my quest for profit in the 2015/16 campaign.

So it's 1-1 in the last minute of your cup final. You win a free kick thirty yards out.

Willian and Eriksen both on the pitch. Which on takes it?

    Hi guys,

Considering moreno or VVD with planing ahead for the Kun kitty too.

Should I save and wait for international break. Everyone seemed badly burnt with injuries from the last one.

    Butland (Ruddy)
    Azpi, Kol, Janmaat (Targett, Francis)
    KDB, Sanchez, Payet, Mahrez, (Westwood)
    Bony(C), Pelle, Vardy

    Bottomed out...

What do we think are Tottenham's chances at Arsenal this week. Don't particularly care if they win lose or draw...I'm talking about scoring some goals. Eriksen is my point of interest here. He's trolled me with one assist in 8 goals last two games, oh what could have been. And I know if I sell the git he's going to troll me again.

So, Spurs to score? Arsenal defence rattled after a 5-1 shellacking? Or back to business as usual?

    Good day

    So...When is Aguero's return?

It's interesting to note man.city play liverpool & Southampton and stoke away after this gameweek. With returning fitness factors there are better options until gw 16. Super player no doubt but could go without at least at the start, don't you think.

1 is sensible but having 2 limits you to only one Soton attacker, so no 🙂

I only want 1 attacker though so thats not a concern for me. It's really snout whether they will score enough cleanies/potential attacking threat I'm thinking of, or whether there are better options.

Hmm. Well I think Soton will grab some cleanies but I don't think they are as tight, nor offer the value, compared to last season, so wouldn't recommend it.

          VVD of the two, though.

Any thoughts on the captaincy this week? KDB on the surface is the obvious choice but Vardy and Mahrez could once more really deliver and I can see Kane scoring against Arsenal. Sanchez is also due decent returns I think, and then Southampton against a leaky Sunderland defence. Hard to call.

With Bellerin a doubt and Darmian out this week do I shift Darmian or go ahead with my original plan of Mignolet > DDG for free and just play Francis if Bellerin doesn't make it?

Any Chelsea fans on here? Apart from another MOTM performance from Willian did anyone else notice the fantastic cameo by Hazard? Felt like i was watching a game from last season! He looked absolutely fantastic and even though it was just 10 mins he looked better than he has in the 700+ minutes of the rest of the season so far. Allowing myself to get excited again! 🙂

I think I may go with Sanchez - I have Vardy and Mahrez, so whatever they do I am partly covered. My whole ML has all three players...so I need to try something to make up some ground..

Arsenal Spurs not really know for 0-0 is it? If I knew a site to look up previous results, I would.

last 2 seaons at the emirates it's been tight. Spurs defence has been solid... wouldn't expect too many goals

I want to pretend i have 2 Leicester players(only own Vardy) so i was tempted to captain him 😆 .. Leicester WAtford a bit of a revenge match for Leicester(especially vs Deeney). would not be surprised in the least if it was high a scoring game

My defence is Kolarov, Bellerin, Cedric, Huth and Francis.

With Bellerin likely out and Kolarov a rotation risk now, I'm considering using my FT to bring in United cover. This is all on the basis that I'll be WCing once Aguero is back starting.

Wenger on injuries ahead of Spurs "I don’t think Bellerin will be available for Sunday but there is a small chance."

I told ya scouts he isn't deserving top of watch list, you ignored. Gladly you accepted your mistake and put Kosc instead of him and put him 3rd.

But why Van Dijk first? Mike Smalling and Moreno are better buy option atm IMO

which transfer should i make over the international break barring no other injuries.

    Payet > Ozil

Pelle > Aguero (will he be back)

    1. Would you get (A) Monreal or (B) Moreno for fixtures till Jan?
    2. Would your answer be different if you have Mignolet already?

Arsenal is having an injury hit and the CS potential may be adversely affected?

Unnecessarily bought Bellerin in for Koscielny for a hit 3gameweeks ago, was happy with his assist at first, but then Koscielny went on to get 2 clean sheets and 2 goals in the next 3 gameweeks...and now I'm stuck here with Bellerin, who's probably unfit to play in the NLD.

    Vardy - Pelle - Bony

Just tossing this team to go ahead and win by 16 points vs scout picks. Share your thoughts please!

    DDG

    Rojo Sagna Otamendi

    Mahrez Siggy Willian Sterling

    Giroud Rooney Ayoze !!!!

Need to be VERY puntastic to win by 16 points this GW.

I like the Rooney pick. Not sure I'd double up on City at the back, Garde's first game at home? Think they might score.

How about Benteke for Giroud? and maybe Mane for Siggy?

Well if i pick Mane/ Payet i would go to 3-5-2 and drop Ayoze. I just have a gut feeling about Siggy, thats about it. Not sure who else to put at back, Clyne was an option but meh. Not convinced at all

Is worth it keeping KDB when Aguero gets fit?? If yes then better to downgrade Payet/Mane instead for the cash or continue spreading the risk by keeping one heavy hitter of each top team?

Was all set on KDB to 4.5mn and Vardy to aguero after 2 GWs....
