Wednesday evening finds us popping out for the Weekly Shop, plundering the player lists of our partner games to assess the likely targets that will make up our weekend lineups.

Our analysis of the options is split into two sections: I’ll breakdown the key targets that no squad can do without in “Better Buys”, before seeking out those one-shot “Poundstretcher” prospects that can provide us points, whilst freeing up funds.

For this week’s selection, we’re scanning the players lists in our two partner games – FantasyBet and Premier Punt.

Better Buys

Manchester United may be struggling in attack but have been defensively sound with four shut-outs in five: they’ve conceded just a single goal at Old Trafford to date.

That ensures that David de Gea (FantasyBet 5.5m, Premier Punt 9m) is the standout option across the weekly games. The Spaniard has made three or more saves in four of his seven league appearances so far, with his shot-stopping abilities earning two bonus points against Crystal Palace in United’s previous outing. Given West Brom’s lack of punch, it’s difficult to see De Gea being breached at Old Trafford.

Jurgen Klopp’s reliance on full-backs to provide the attacking width within his system has Alberto Moreno (FantasyBet 5m, Premier Punt 8.4m) promoted up from the Poundstretcher classification. Moreno’s raiding runs down the flank have resulted in the left-back having more goal attempts (six) over the last three than any other defender. Liverpool welcome a Crystal Palace side that have scored just once in their last three matches on the road.

Riyad Mahrez (FantasyBet 6.5m, Premier Punt 9.9m) proved once again that ignoring his talents can be damaging; a brace against West Brom brought his total for the season to seven goals in 11 matches. The Algerian’s consistency has been a huge asset and, having blanked on just three occasions so far, I’m finding it difficult to look beyond Mahrez heading into the home meeting with Watford.

Arsenal have won five successive league matches and have averaged three goals a game over that run. Mesut Ozil (FantasyBet 8.5m, Premier Punt 13.3m) has been the prime architect for that impressive record with seven assists and a goal, making the German playmaker a must-have in Sunday’s north London derby. Team-mate Olivier Giroud (FantasyBet 9m, Premier Punt 14m) is also one to consider, with a goal in each of his last three – the Frenchman remains assured of starts with Theo Walcott sidelined.

Elsewhere in attack, I’m currently assessing Christian Benteke (FantasyBet 8.5m, Premier Punt 13m) as a key candidate. The Belgian has suffered limited pitch time but he looks certain to start against Palace and has scored in three of his last four Premier League outings. Carrying on from Villa last season, Benteke now has 15 goals in 19 top-flight appearances: that makes him impossible to ignore.

Poundstretchers

Leicester picked up their first clean sheet of the season in their previous match at the King Power and Kasper Schmeichel (FantasyBet 4.5m, Premier Punt 7.6m) will be eager to improve on that record with the visit of promoted Watford. Odion Ighalo will be a major threat if he recovers from a knock, but, despite his form, I foresee another call to the Pizza Parlour for Ranieri’s men.

I’m also looking at Jeffrey Schlupp in FantasyBet, where he’s classified as a 5.0 defender. Whilst confidence in Leicester’s defence is understandably shaky, few can doubt their devastating attacking threat. Schlupp, on the left-flank or even in the number ten role, looks a very handy defensive differential.

Sunderland have conceded two or more goals seven times this season, which has me lean towards Southampton’s assets as they drop in on the Stadium of Light this weekend. Dusan Tadic (FantasyBet 7m, Premier Punt 10.8m) has outscored Sadio Mane (FantasyBet 8m, Premier Punt 12.1m) overall after picking up an assist against Bournemouth and is also a cheaper alternative to Graziano Pelle (FantasyBet 8m, Premier Punt 12.2m).

We drop in on Bournemouth for our budget striker pick this week. Glenn Murray (FantasyBet 6m, Premier Punt 7.6m) has two in four for Eddie Howe’s side and the veteran frontman could be up against Newcastle’s fourth choice keeper, with Robert Elliot the latest to be struck by injury.

These are the contenders for my weekly contest lineups heading into the weekend. I’ll return on Friday with a further assessment of this week’s partner games – FantasyBet and Premier Punt, as I continue my quest for profit in the 2015/16 campaign.

I am pulling together a WC draft and I have a could of questions relating to my team:

    Question 1

Who would you rather have on WC Rojo or Bertrand?

    Question 2

Which of these 4 do you prefer

    A) Silva Wanyama Barkley Costa
    B) Silva Wanyama Willian Costa
    C) Ritchie Tadic Hazard Lukaku
    D) Sissoko Tadic Hazard Lukaku

      Rojo

If these are all supposedly starters then probably C, mainly on the basis that playing Ritchie every week would make marginally less suicidal than playing Sissoko or Wanyama. If Wanyama would be a 5th mid then A.

Do I need to use both my FTs on defensive transfers? Was hoping to carry 2 into the break.

    Fabianski, McCarthy
Darmian (susp), Bellerin (inj), Richards (probably fit), Prodl (dropped), Dawson
    Alexis, KDB, Yaya, Payet, Mahrez
    Pelle, Vardy, Ighalo

    2 FTs, 4.1m banked

No clue....haven't thought about that yet!

So you think I can just do Prodl > Moreno? I just feel that Liverpool have a tough game in Russia, Dawson is playing United (yes, might be an okay fixture but hardly a banker) and Richards is playing City.

Is that not far too weak? If I was to make a 2nd it'd be Darmian > Rojo.

I'd go for the Rojo transfer.

And if you fancy Darmian to regain his spot once he's back from suspension, might be worth ditching Prodl or Richards instead. Doubt either of them are going to get you anything and a double United defence could be quite handy.

In a very similar situation. Have the same defence except Kola and Targett for your Prodl and Richards. Wanted to have 2 FTs over the Int. Break but now that Bellerins out im pretty much forced to do Darmian - Rojo this week (?). Planning to do Kola to Ward next GW, to make space for Aguero.

So for Arsenal to qualify for the champions league they have to -

    A) beat Dinamo Zagreb at the Emirates.
    B) Rely on Bayern to beat Olympiakos in Munich.
    C) beat Olympiakos in Greece by either 2 goals or a minimum of 3.

    Easy peasy....

Welbeck, Wilshere & Rosicky out until next year some point.
Ramsay, Walcott, AOC, Bellerin, Koscielny, Arteta and Ospina all due back over the next 4-6 weeks.

AOC & Walcott were completely unnecessary, why he played them in the C1 cup I have no idea.

    DDG

    Rojo Sagna Clyne

    Sterling Mane Mahrez Willian Siggurdson

    Giroud Rooney!

I think I actually prefer doubling up..

            So Sterling + Bony
            or
            Ozil + Giroud.

May as well try to go big or go home with the scout picks.

Cool, is that due to your allegiances or do you fancy him to overcome his poor away form against Big Sam's Sunderland? Pelle did it against Chelsea but he hasn't done much in recent weeks or away from home in general..

          Yeah I'd bench Payet then.
Ighalo has been involved in 100% of his team's goals whilst on the pitch, Watford are in good form, and Leicester can't defend for their lives. Could easily get a brace.

I agree, and I think you'll win, but 2-0 with Mané as the protagonist.

Sunderland are set up to defend against traditional attackers, but not against a mixture of pace and trickery like Mané...

I'm more confident of Payet scoring vs a leaky Everton than I am of Pelle turning his away form around when he won't be the main focal point this weekend.

(cue Pelle hattrick, all assisted by Davis, with Mané invisible)

        - Payet the superior player in terms of attacking quality
        - West Ham are a lot better in terms of attack
        - Hammers have scored 2 goals a game, at home(on average - but only failed to score less than 2 at home once)
        - In fact in 9/11 games this season, West Ham have scored 2 or more goals. Only failing to score once.

    Is United defender "essential" ?

I have 1FT and 1,5 ITB and my defense looks like - Bellerin - Cedric - Francis - Nyom - Huth
I was thinking to get Rojo as Smalling is too expensive and I don't like to change my GKs.

WBA have conceded on away games only 2 goals and in total 30 attempts from the box (6 per game), MU at home have scored 8 goals and 7 of them was from the box, with total 56 attempts in total (11,2 shots/per game), 27 was from the box (5,4 shot per game).

    Bellerin (i) - Darmian (sus) - Kolarov - Cedric - Oxford
    Sanchez - KDB - Payet - Mahrez - Wijnaldum
    Kane - Pelle - Ighalo (i)

    What should I do?
