Southampton’s Graziano Pelle is the most high profile of this week’s Suspension Tightrope protagonists after collecting a fifth yellow card of the campaign in yesterday’s home loss to Stoke.

The Italian will now miss next weekend’s trip to the Etihad and, although he will return in time for a plum home clash against Villa in Gameweek 15, it’s fair to say the exodus is picking up pace – over 120,000 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers have already parted company as we scramble to bring in the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Sergio Aguero.

Pelle earned a late caution for kicking the ball away as his barren run continued – he’s scored just once in the last five Gameweeks. Post-match, Ronaldo Koeman was unhappy over the Italian’s lack of self-restraint:

“It’s all about the frustration of the player. He was not playing well, he was not scoring and the team was not winning, but you have to control yourself always. That’s difficult, we know. But, okay, if it doesn’t happen today maybe it happens next week. It’s always a question if you are one booking from a suspension. It’s always when, when, when it happens. Okay, normally you have to control yourself. He knows. We know. We have to accept it and we will play another [number] nine next week.”

Pelle is one of six players to succumb to a one-match Tightrope ban so far. Liverpool will be devoid of Lucas’ services for their home encounter against Swansea next weekend. Swansea’s Jonjo Shelvey will also miss that Anfield encounter – handed the role in “the hole” at home to Bournemouth, the former Red bagged himself a goal and assist before earning his fifth yellow of the season.

Over at the Hawthorns, Tony Pulis has decisions to make at left-back after Chris Brunt picked up his fifth booking in the Baggies’ home win over Arsenal – the Northern Ireland international now misses next weekend’s trip to West Ham. Mark Noble will also be unavailable for that one after earning his fifth yellow in today’s loss at White Hart Lane, whilst Dele Alli will be absent as Spurs host Chelsea next weekend.

There are now 17 players on this week’s Tightrope, with Gameweek 13 handing us five new entries. Bournemouth playmaker Matt Ritchie, Leicester centre-half Robert Huth, Norwich’s Seb Bassong and Liverpool pair Emre Can and Nathaniel Clyne are the men in question.

Palace duo Wilfried Zaha and Yohan Cabaye, along with Sunderland’s Billy Jones, could yet topple of this week’s Tightrope – all three go into tomorrow’s night’s match at Slehurst Park on four yellows apiece.

In terms of newly-available players, Tottenham will welcome back Erik Lamela for next week’s trip to Stamford Bridge after the Argentine served a one-match ban at home to West Ham earlier today. West Brom will have Gareth McAuley available for their clash with the Hammers after the Irishman missed yesterday’s win over Arsenal.

Slaven Bilic’s side, meanwhile, will be without the services of James Collins once again – the Welshman serves the last of a three-match ban against the Baggies.

I assume that talk of Alli has died down just because he's suspended?

If he keeps that advanced role he could be gold.

He did. But 10 minutes against a team whose heads are ready down dkesnt prove much. He's a good player though.

Very much so, in all aspects.

Watching the game yesterday he was virtually a striker at times, and offered goal and assist threat.

Has very reasonable fixtures around GW18/19 too. Will prob be my fifth (I can find a little extra)

I think he could score. You are underestimating their attack, and someone as defensive as Watford put one past them, so you never know.

As silly as it seems to sell a guy who has scored in 10 consecutive games...

      1. Vardy averaging 7 ppg over last 4. Significantly lower than Kane/Lukaku.

      2. Vardy has weakest fixtures.

      3. Vardy doesn't have pens (bar this weekend if they get one and he hasn't yet scored-the crowd will peer-pressure Mahrez again!).

      1. Saniul
        • 13 Years
        10 years, 8 months ago

Yes, you're probably right, and the fixtures might stop Vardy. But then Leicester play like a team who would lose, but probably will score in those games (for example, the 2-5 against Arsenal). That makes Vardy/Mahrez still decent options.

Its the easiest game plan ever, United know Leicester will get the ball to Vardy at every possible opportunity so he'll be well marked. They'll also have to do it with only 30% possession.

United will not miss this golden opportunity to take the 1st spot and both Vardy and Mahrez will be well marked.

This is a strange week for rankings/average - and not for the first time this season.

I used to think that if you scored around the same as the top 10k average when you were well outside it, you should move up, as most weeks the top 10k average is above the overall average, but that doesn't hold true plenty of the time it seems. I started this week at 95k, scored 50 (overall average is 50.4), but have dropped to 150k. And even if I'd scored 60 (top 10k average is 59.5) I'd have dropped outside the top 100k. I needed to outscore the top 10k average by about 2.5 points to maintain that 95k rank. 😕 I'm sure there's others with similar scenarios...

    A) Firmino + Lingard

    B) Herrera + Lanzini

To enable Aguero, who would you rather have?

      A. Would give Firmino another game though

Lingard could become Dele Ali except I'd bench him this week.

      Really want Aguero this week.

If you want him get him after Juve. I'm giving him another game before considering him

So after pulling a measly 30pts after saturday I finished on 65pts and green arrows thanks to Kane and alder.

I made a few transfers out of frustration on Saturday night and not beginning to regret them. Onwards and upwards

I was on 43 points with a -20, but Kane (c) saved my GW big time.

      Before hits I would've had 72.

      Lukaku, Kane, Ighalo

Selling Ighalo once his next three outstanding fixtures are over.

Don't think so. Everton's fixtures look very very good.

But classical Kun, can explode any time.
