634x258 Suspensions

Southampton’s Graziano Pelle is the most high profile of this week’s Suspension Tightrope protagonists after collecting a fifth yellow card of the campaign in yesterday’s home loss to Stoke.

The Italian will now miss next weekend’s trip to the Etihad and, although he will return in time for a plum home clash against Villa in Gameweek 15, it’s fair to say the exodus is picking up pace – over 120,000 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers have already parted company as we scramble to bring in the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Sergio Aguero.

Pelle earned a late caution for kicking the ball away as his barren run continued – he’s scored just once in the last five Gameweeks. Post-match, Ronaldo Koeman was unhappy over the Italian’s lack of self-restraint:

“It’s all about the frustration of the player. He was not playing well, he was not scoring and the team was not winning, but you have to control yourself always. That’s difficult, we know. But, okay, if it doesn’t happen today maybe it happens next week. It’s always a question if you are one booking from a suspension. It’s always when, when, when it happens. Okay, normally you have to control yourself. He knows. We know. We have to accept it and we will play another [number] nine next week.”

Pelle is one of six players to succumb to a one-match Tightrope ban so far. Liverpool will be devoid of Lucas’ services for their home encounter against Swansea next weekend. Swansea’s Jonjo Shelvey will also miss that Anfield encounter – handed the role in “the hole” at home to Bournemouth, the former Red bagged himself a goal and assist before earning his fifth yellow of the season.

Over at the Hawthorns, Tony Pulis has decisions to make at left-back after Chris Brunt picked up his fifth booking in the Baggies’ home win over Arsenal – the Northern Ireland international now misses next weekend’s trip to West Ham. Mark Noble will also be unavailable for that one after earning his fifth yellow in today’s loss at White Hart Lane, whilst Dele Alli will be absent as Spurs host Chelsea next weekend.

There are now 17 players on this week’s Tightrope, with Gameweek 13 handing us five new entries. Bournemouth playmaker Matt Ritchie, Leicester centre-half Robert Huth, Norwich’s Seb Bassong and Liverpool pair Emre Can and Nathaniel Clyne are the men in question.

Palace duo Wilfried Zaha and Yohan Cabaye, along with Sunderland’s Billy Jones, could yet topple of this week’s Tightrope – all three go into tomorrow’s night’s match at Slehurst Park on four yellows apiece.

In terms of newly-available players, Tottenham will welcome back Erik Lamela for next week’s trip to Stamford Bridge after the Argentine served a one-match ban at home to West Ham earlier today. West Brom will have Gareth McAuley available for their clash with the Hammers after the Irishman missed yesterday’s win over Arsenal.

Slaven Bilic’s side, meanwhile, will be without the services of James Collins once again – the Welshman serves the last of a three-match ban against the Baggies.

Just had a look, Kane has triple the NTIs compared to Aguero after todays morning price rises...

looks like we wont see another price rise for kun till fri

It doesn't work like that. It's more of a rate thing. If a player gets transferred in quickly, he goes up. He may rise before friday

If you could only select one of their players, who would it be?

Who would you downgrade first? Janmaat or Dawson.

    and who to?

      10 years, 28 days ago

Janmaat, I have both. Can't trust newcastle at all. The next 3 fixtures are quite good for a watford defender - Cathcart the safest, Ake the flair pick. Walker for the long run

Yea initially got him in for his potential attacking returns, but that has failed so now looking at downgrading defence a little to have funds elsewhere.

Watford defence has been a good shout all season. Any other options?

Erm, the usual big teams. Arsenal first, Spurs for the long run, Man Utd. The only other team with low priced players are cpl. Oh I forgot Wollschied for Stoke

Got Spurs, Arsenal and Utd cover.

          Cech
          Smalling / Rose / Dawson / Janmaat / Moreno

I was looking at Willscheid, but Stoke don't have the best fixtures and he could be a rotation risk no?

That's a big defence. Look at fixtures and see when you actually want to play them. I'd get wollschied and play him in very good fixtures

    Team for GW14:

    Hennessey / deGea
    Moreno / Alderweireld / Bellerin / Rojo / Simpson
    Sanchez / Coutinho / Mahrez / Lingard / Silva
    Aguero / Giroud / Vardy

Quite happy with my team, but could be a big problem not having Kane or Lukaku. What should I do? 0.0m ITB

Warriors on the verge of history. 6 minutes from being 15-0 to start the season, tying the '49 Washington Capitols and the '94 Houston Rockets.

Will face 2-10 Lakers in Oakland to set the record.

    Myhill, Hennesey
    Smalling, Bellend, Dawson, Alderwhatsup, nyom
    KDB, Sanchez, Ozil, Mahrez, Drinkwater
    Aguero, Ighalo, Vardy

yes thinking kdb to barkley an ighalo to lukaku. If i do it now though it would be -8. Do you think that's worth it or perhaps fo it for a -4 next week?

I wouldn't want to upgrade Ighalo, his next 3 games are quite good, but Vardy instead. Lukaku is more explosive and I think vs Bournemouth has more potential to outscore Vardy vs Man Utd.

i know it seems very hard to drop him during these fixtures, but after that his fixtures look hard and I think Vardy will have more chances than him. Tough one. Thanks for the tip I'll think about it could be the right way to go. Would you do it this week for -8?

              • 10 Years
              10 years, 28 days ago

-8 is a little too much. May be hold for another week and see whether Vardy still able to score against the league tightest defence then only decide.

Is Barkley really a good option?

Both of the goals he scored were gifts and he is very inconsistent. Are people being blinded by the 2 goals he scored this GW rather than going for the more attacking Deulefeu?

I agree, and also the fixtures. If he doesn't get forward as much he could end up with maybe an assist in his next4

Kane (c) and Alderweireld saved my GW a little after I benched Coutinho, Simpson and Hennessey (bet he get a CS so I can see over 30pts on my bench).

That is true, Ighalo's dropped off. Still a good rough guide.

He was rested because of international exertions.

Herrera injured, he came on and went to LB, Blind into midfield

All good mate. As a Rojo owner I would have felt very smug if Unjted had conceded before he came on, and then he got the cleansheet anyway!

Some transfer thoughts I'd love some feedback on, after missing getting Martial out last week for -4.

    Vardy Martial Lukaku
    KdB Sanchez Özil Ayew Mahrez
    Francis Galloway Sagna Kolarov Moreno
    Butland Myhill

Thinking Martial to Ighalo and Ayew to Firmino, or Sagna to 4.4 (Ward, Simpson or Wolly) and Ayew to Firmino.....my priority I think should be Martial out,

    Thoughts?

Who else would play the 10?

I think the risk of playing time up front is between Benteke and Sturridge, with Benteke being a super sub.

Hmm I know he's the best fit but then why isn't he playing. Full games, I'm afraid klopp will have different tactics game to game and some will involve firminio and others wont

Barkley smashed it in his last game.
Before that he had 8 blanks in 10 games
but looking forward he's hard to argue with
I went with Deloufeu myself. Just to be different
