634x258 Suspensions

Southampton’s Graziano Pelle is the most high profile of this week’s Suspension Tightrope protagonists after collecting a fifth yellow card of the campaign in yesterday’s home loss to Stoke.

The Italian will now miss next weekend’s trip to the Etihad and, although he will return in time for a plum home clash against Villa in Gameweek 15, it’s fair to say the exodus is picking up pace – over 120,000 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers have already parted company as we scramble to bring in the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Sergio Aguero.

Pelle earned a late caution for kicking the ball away as his barren run continued – he’s scored just once in the last five Gameweeks. Post-match, Ronaldo Koeman was unhappy over the Italian’s lack of self-restraint:

“It’s all about the frustration of the player. He was not playing well, he was not scoring and the team was not winning, but you have to control yourself always. That’s difficult, we know. But, okay, if it doesn’t happen today maybe it happens next week. It’s always a question if you are one booking from a suspension. It’s always when, when, when it happens. Okay, normally you have to control yourself. He knows. We know. We have to accept it and we will play another [number] nine next week.”

Pelle is one of six players to succumb to a one-match Tightrope ban so far. Liverpool will be devoid of Lucas’ services for their home encounter against Swansea next weekend. Swansea’s Jonjo Shelvey will also miss that Anfield encounter – handed the role in “the hole” at home to Bournemouth, the former Red bagged himself a goal and assist before earning his fifth yellow of the season.

Over at the Hawthorns, Tony Pulis has decisions to make at left-back after Chris Brunt picked up his fifth booking in the Baggies’ home win over Arsenal – the Northern Ireland international now misses next weekend’s trip to West Ham. Mark Noble will also be unavailable for that one after earning his fifth yellow in today’s loss at White Hart Lane, whilst Dele Alli will be absent as Spurs host Chelsea next weekend.

There are now 17 players on this week’s Tightrope, with Gameweek 13 handing us five new entries. Bournemouth playmaker Matt Ritchie, Leicester centre-half Robert Huth, Norwich’s Seb Bassong and Liverpool pair Emre Can and Nathaniel Clyne are the men in question.

Palace duo Wilfried Zaha and Yohan Cabaye, along with Sunderland’s Billy Jones, could yet topple of this week’s Tightrope – all three go into tomorrow’s night’s match at Slehurst Park on four yellows apiece.

In terms of newly-available players, Tottenham will welcome back Erik Lamela for next week’s trip to Stamford Bridge after the Argentine served a one-match ban at home to West Ham earlier today. West Brom will have Gareth McAuley available for their clash with the Hammers after the Irishman missed yesterday’s win over Arsenal.

Slaven Bilic’s side, meanwhile, will be without the services of James Collins once again – the Welshman serves the last of a three-match ban against the Baggies.

    morning DZ,
have to get rid of pelle, have 3 options

    1. Kolarov to Simpson ; Pelle to Aguero (-4)
    2. KDB to Coutinho/Firminho ; pelle to kun (-4)
    3. Pelle to Kane

Option 1 means a defense of VVD, Nyom, Francis, Rojo, Simpson - which seems rather poor.

Option 2 allows Liverpool coverage for their next 6

Option 3 makes captaincy options more difficult

Thanks for the responses. Seeing a lot of love for Kane, but not been impressed with KDB at all of late. Plus liverpool's fixtures are incredible

no takers for option 1, which is interesting as I wanted to lose Kolarov due to rotation fears

Wow, if you have members access, go and compare KDB from his first 4 weeks (5-8) to his last 4 weeks...huge difference. Not sure if teh common denominator is Aguero (or lack thereof), or whether he's just regressing as ADM did last season...?

Good point, and Silva back next week? So confused about whether to keep KDB or not.

Just compared KDB first four weeks to Coutinho's last four as well, very similar...

I'm also very confused, got KDB at 10.0 , so that makes it even harder

liverpool's fixtures are way better than city's though , and if downgrading KDB to make way for Kun, you're still getting 'coverage'

Just buy the player you think will score best in my opinion.

Kun may get injured or may take a long time to justify the outlay with the other options available and will only ever be a -4 away with KDB and Sanchez in your team.

Janmaat, I have both. Can't trust newcastle at all. The next 3 fixtures are quite good for a watford defender - Cathcart the safest, Ake the flair pick. Walker for the long run

Yea initially got him in for his potential attacking returns, but that has failed so now looking at downgrading defence a little to have funds elsewhere.

I was looking at Willscheid, but Stoke don't have the best fixtures and he could be a rotation risk no?

I like giroud for this week, but if you're worried about lukaku you're going to be worried for 6 gameweeks looking at the fixtures

I know. Think I stick with Giroud for now. Maybe bring in Lukaku for GW15 or 16 if its still a good transfer then

Warriors on the verge of history. 6 minutes from being 15-0 to start the season, tying the '49 Washington Capitols and the '94 Houston Rockets.

Will face 2-10 Lakers in Oakland to set the record.

Need help on my next moves, no Lukaku/Kane is scaring me.

    Myhill, Hennesey
    Smalling, Bellend, Dawson, Alderwhatsup, nyom
    KDB, Sanchez, Ozil, Mahrez, Drinkwater
    Aguero, Ighalo, Vardy

    0.6 ITB

Any thoughts on what to do with this?

Need to downgrade one of KdB / Sanchez / Smalling to upgrade one of Ighalo / Vardy.

yes thinking kdb to barkley an ighalo to lukaku. If i do it now though it would be -8. Do you think that's worth it or perhaps fo it for a -4 next week?

I wouldn't want to upgrade Ighalo, his next 3 games are quite good, but Vardy instead. Lukaku is more explosive and I think vs Bournemouth has more potential to outscore Vardy vs Man Utd.

i know it seems very hard to drop him during these fixtures, but after that his fixtures look hard and I think Vardy will have more chances than him. Tough one. Thanks for the tip I'll think about it could be the right way to go. Would you do it this week for -8?

-8 is a little too much. May be hold for another week and see whether Vardy still able to score against the league tightest defence then only decide.

I think it's a good team for this week, double wba defence against whu or play hennessey. Nyom, bell so good defence + you have ozil. I'd stick with that team

Not surprising to see that Gosling is in a lot of members teams as bench fodder while he is nearly absent from non members teams. His stats are pretty brilliant for a 4.4. Very difficult to spot him as an option without randomly finding him in a table though.. rivals mahrez for peno touches and shots in the box since he got his first 90 and creates chances too(double figures in just 8 games)

Lol. Is Barkley really a good option?

Both of the goals he scored were gifts and he is very inconsistent. Are people being blinded by the 2 goals he scored this GW rather than going for the more attacking Deulefeu?

I agree, and also the fixtures. If he doesn't get forward as much he could end up with maybe an assist in his next4

I think Barkley is a great option simply because of Kone and Deulefou creating so much space for him in the middle

Kane (c) and Alderweireld saved my GW a little after I benched Coutinho, Simpson and Hennessey (bet he get a CS so I can see over 30pts on my bench).

Ended on 68pts. Not that bad with 6 players on 0-3pts

Have both lukaku and Barkley. Main ml rivals do too.

Should I captain Barkley this week to differentiate as I'm sure they'll captain Lukaku? Or too risky given people thought he was lucky vs Villa??
