634x258 Suspensions

Southampton’s Graziano Pelle is the most high profile of this week’s Suspension Tightrope protagonists after collecting a fifth yellow card of the campaign in yesterday’s home loss to Stoke.

The Italian will now miss next weekend’s trip to the Etihad and, although he will return in time for a plum home clash against Villa in Gameweek 15, it’s fair to say the exodus is picking up pace – over 120,000 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers have already parted company as we scramble to bring in the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Sergio Aguero.

Pelle earned a late caution for kicking the ball away as his barren run continued – he’s scored just once in the last five Gameweeks. Post-match, Ronaldo Koeman was unhappy over the Italian’s lack of self-restraint:

“It’s all about the frustration of the player. He was not playing well, he was not scoring and the team was not winning, but you have to control yourself always. That’s difficult, we know. But, okay, if it doesn’t happen today maybe it happens next week. It’s always a question if you are one booking from a suspension. It’s always when, when, when it happens. Okay, normally you have to control yourself. He knows. We know. We have to accept it and we will play another [number] nine next week.”

Pelle is one of six players to succumb to a one-match Tightrope ban so far. Liverpool will be devoid of Lucas’ services for their home encounter against Swansea next weekend. Swansea’s Jonjo Shelvey will also miss that Anfield encounter – handed the role in “the hole” at home to Bournemouth, the former Red bagged himself a goal and assist before earning his fifth yellow of the season.

Over at the Hawthorns, Tony Pulis has decisions to make at left-back after Chris Brunt picked up his fifth booking in the Baggies’ home win over Arsenal – the Northern Ireland international now misses next weekend’s trip to West Ham. Mark Noble will also be unavailable for that one after earning his fifth yellow in today’s loss at White Hart Lane, whilst Dele Alli will be absent as Spurs host Chelsea next weekend.

There are now 17 players on this week’s Tightrope, with Gameweek 13 handing us five new entries. Bournemouth playmaker Matt Ritchie, Leicester centre-half Robert Huth, Norwich’s Seb Bassong and Liverpool pair Emre Can and Nathaniel Clyne are the men in question.

Palace duo Wilfried Zaha and Yohan Cabaye, along with Sunderland’s Billy Jones, could yet topple of this week’s Tightrope – all three go into tomorrow’s night’s match at Slehurst Park on four yellows apiece.

In terms of newly-available players, Tottenham will welcome back Erik Lamela for next week’s trip to Stamford Bridge after the Argentine served a one-match ban at home to West Ham earlier today. West Brom will have Gareth McAuley available for their clash with the Hammers after the Irishman missed yesterday’s win over Arsenal.

Slaven Bilic’s side, meanwhile, will be without the services of James Collins once again – the Welshman serves the last of a three-match ban against the Baggies.

Whole season (just to give Valar and Gosling a fair advantage)

King's xG - 1.568 (all xG acquired in last 2.5 weeks)
    Gosling's xG- 1.798 ( from 13 games)

Im from Norway, and I have had an extra eye for King last couple of years. He is a good player, but he dont score goals. And I dont see him starting to score either. He wasn't even picked in the squad when Norway was playing EC-playoff. And Norway has a sh!t team..

King has only scored like 10 goals in his carrier for a senior team. In like 130 games. Thats very very bad. When he plays so many games up top its hard to understand why he dont score more goals..

I don't go by past performances , I go by present form and he is bang in form atm

You argue that his finishing is awful but his shot accuracy is awesome atm (SoT/Total Shots) - Also I am sure that he does not play striker for Norway , does he?

sometimes he play striker, other times he play on the left side, it depends really. But I know he is in great shape right now. He is a good player, he is quick and work really hard for the team, he also get many chancec. But like I said, he dont score goals. He never has, and I dont see that changing. He will score once in a while. Maybe every 10 matches, but that is not good enough.

But his shot accuracy has drastically improved - Howe is not a mad man that will play King over Murray if he does not think King has improved , he is 23 years old , and improving , what more do you need?

His numbers are best among all milfs after Coutinho in shooting stats

I need him to show that he can either score goals, or assist them. Ok, he scored this GW, but so did Skrtel (on a volley).
The upside is, as you are saying, he is young and improving, and he is firing away shots on target.

But I like to see him getting the ball inside the net a couple of times before I get exited.

Shot accuracy doesn't mean much if the shots are poor btw.

I would rather see a player it a powerful shot just wide then hit a pea-roller at the keeper.

If he has so many Shots on Target, then he should have alot of goals. If he isn't scoring many with these shots, then the "shot on target" stat means absolutely nothing.

You're so closed minded I've seen the conversations you've had where everyone is making valid points where he hasn't scored or his shots are good enough and you say the same thing every time going back to shots on target. Maybe you should realize that he can't score

Forget all stats and just watch him play. You can see that he does many good things on the pitch, but he doesn't look likely to score a lot of goals.

    Anyone fancy a mid-season snigger? http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2015/08/08/season-predictions-201516-the-view-from-the-scouts/

    Some highlights from my predictions:
    Chelsea to win the league
Leicester as this year's underachievers and to be relegated
Aston Villa as this year's overachievers
Eden Hazard as bonus point darling
    Oscar as best differential
Siem de Jong as top budget midfielder (admittedly that was a hail mary even at the time)

We all make mistakes 🙂 And TBH no one expected such great form from Leicester and a disaster from Chelsea. We would be laughing if someone ever predicted what we are seeing currently.

Though picking Villa as overachievers was stretching it slightly 🙂

I think even if he was fully fit he'd struggle to perform in the current environment - we've been disorganised for years which is never conducive to allowing individuals to shine.

true, and even then not sure there is a place for him in the team. He can only really play as an attacking mid (Wijnaldum's spot) or as a striker (Mitrovic's spot). He's poor everywhere else.

Has been forgotten due to other big names.

Could all the Aguero buyers be getting ahead of themselves?

He's barely back from a lengthy injury, didn't look at his best and will play 60 mins at max early on - regardless of the results. With the form of Kane, Lukaku and Vardy, which one can be justified going without for Aguero? Most will probably say Vardy because of fixtures, but remember his two most explosive games this season was against Arsenal and Soton. And surely Aguero investment over Vardy isn't justiable given the 6m price gap that could be money well spent in midfield and defence.

As for captainy over the next four, a rotation between Lukaku, Sanchez/Ozil and Kane gives:
    bou/nor, SUN, NEW, LEI

    Aguero gives:
    SOU, stk, SWA, ars

I don't see a classic City mauling in any of those tbh. The Swansea game has the potential of being high scoring, but having seen both Spurs and Newcastle play in recent weeks, surely that game should be a even higher scoring one?

By GW18, if Kun is still fit and in somewhat of a decent form, every man and his dog will want him in for the Sunderland game. But even then, given his injury record and likely being rested at some point during Christmas anyway, Kane at home to Norwich the same week is a viable captaincy candidate.

I'd be lying if I said i weren't nervous of going Kun-less, but I'm happy with Kane-Lukaku-Vardy for now.

Kun can lash in braces when least expecting it. Footballs unpredictable but wouldn't be the biggest shock to see Kun score 2 vs Saints whilst a just Europa playing Spurs crash and burn after running so well and Kane blanks. Who knows!

If money is there to bring in Kun for free then sure. But many are taking hits and removing KDB who will likely be assisting Kun's braces eventually meaning little reward for getting in Kun at all costs.

But that's kind of my point really. Braces seems likely as his ceiling over these fixtures, and I believe Kane, Lukaku and Vardy + cash and picking other captains with better fixtures should match that or even better it.

i've taken a hit and replaced KDB with Ozil (who seems far superior) plus there is a thought in the back of my mind that KDB may be rested for a few fixtures with silva coming back and juventus mid week

I got both. And as mentioned, KDB is the likely assister of any Aguero goals along with Silva. Now that everyone's removing KDB to get Aguero, people that stick with KDB and goes Kun-less will be covered as Aguero-owners won't get the KDB assist points.

If I had both Kane and Lukaku I would definitely hold - the question is do you get him if you don't already have Kane and Lukaku?

I think the issue lies with what sacrifices you're making to get Kun instead of say Kane or Lukaku if you don't have them. As mentioned above, many are taking hits to remove the likely assister of Kun's goals, meaning they are heavily limiting the total reward of bringing in Kun.

I had Pelle, 1FT and not enough ITB to bring in Kun on a free. I went Kane as I believe Kane + KDB + 4 points will better Coutinho + Aguero. As mentioned I wouldn't be captaining Aguero anyways, and if he does go mad then hopefully KDB - who nearly every Aguero owner won't have - are at the heart of the assists.

If I had Kane Lukaku Vardy KDB, I wouldn't be bringing in Kun for a hit - i would be very comfortable with those players.

For Pelle owners there are 2 camps I guess

      1) Those with Kane or Lukaku and cash ITB to make a swoop for Aguero - quite a straight forward decision considering he will come in the squad anyway, saves an eventual transfer. Kun is Kun, and he will get the chances in that City attack - I could care less about who City play next few games, they will create chances against those teams.

      2) Those with not enough cash for Kun in 1FT - this scenario becomes abit tricky, and all those points you bring up are valid for this group of managers.

All great points and I think you could be spot on. I was in camp 2) and that's probably why I even started to fiddle around with all these scenarios in the first place resulting in this post. Decided to bring in Kane for free and keep KDB for now.

I agree there is a big risk, but just couldnt get the players in I wanted and still fit/afford him anymore. I dont think Cout and Ozil will disappoint too much in the meantime, and I feel Kun is going to be the big punisher for anyone not got him in yet more than Alexis. (as an Arsenal fan I wont be too unhappy if I am wrong though - Win/Win. 😀 )

Deeney v Ighalo - is there much between them? I know Ighalo has more goals/points, but Deeney seems to be hitting a bit of form and is on penalties.

Ighalo, if he doesn't score, he assists. Deeney scores whenever he wants/doesn't want.

There have only two goals for Watford ALL season which have not been either scored/assisted by Ighalo. One of them was when Ighalo was not on the pitch in GW1. That tells you something.

If you were playing 3-5-2 and wanted a 3rd forward I'd get Deeney just because he's cheaper.

But otherwise, I feel as though Ighalo is a lot more reliable and always looks dangerous.

Are you still here? I thought a red arrow would of stopped you posting your several hundred posts today. I know you like telling people how good and experienced you are and how you have mastered the team value tactic, but come on. Surely you realise how you look to others? We could talk about stats and how out of 9 seasons you've only had a decent score in 3 of them, kinda making you the Newcastle of the fpl world.

Aguero - Best player in the league, best FPL player.

    Lukaku: Form and fixtures.

    Kane: Form and fixtures.

    Ighalo: Form and fixtures.

    Vardy: Form

Not sure why people are so against the idea of dropping Vardy given the alternatives we have to choose from.

Ighalo is an option for the mext 3 games only. Try fitting in Aguero, Kane and Lukaku without makinf serious damage to the rest of the team.
