Who better to give an insight into the weekend’s games than the fans themselves? Here I take a look at what the fans are writing on their teams’ forums to see how confident or pessimistic they are about their next game.
Fans Predictions
– Man United fans predict a 1-0 win across the board, with seemingly the whole world of football agreeing that the Red Devils will win, but by a slender margin for a team that have put defence before attack in recent months. A betting man would consider a under 2.5 goals punt for this match. Irons fans also don’t fancy their chances, with a draw seen as the most realistic best outcome.
– Stoke fans think they could get a draw but it would need some goals to achieve this. With Vincent Kompany absent through injury again at least one goal from the Potters looks a certainty. Man City fans are talking about who is going to play rather than what their chances are.
– Arsenal fans are going for a low scoring win but think Big Sam’s bus might even stop the Gunners from scoring. The injuries are obviously mentioned a lot.
– Villa fans are pessimistic about their chances of survival, but even playing like a wounded dog won’t get them a result. They expect Southampton to score heavily but to grab a goal themselves. The saints fans agree, even after their mauling by Liverpool midweek but recognize a more defensive team setup is in order.
– Bournemouth fans think they will score but they can’t stop other teams from scoring too. Cherries fans see plenty of goals in this match. Meanwhile, Chelsea fans are worried where their goals will come from though with a recognition that they are likely to need Willian’s free kicks and Eden Hazard’s penalties to carry them over the line.
– Crystal Palace fans notice that they always do well in Liverpool and they seem to do well in games like this against Everton. This fixture has been won by Palace 3-2 over the last two seasons so fans have reason to expect success, although some are worried about the Monday night scheduling, when Palace have traditionally faltered. A high scoring draw is one of the most popular predictions.
– Swansea are not confident but are a bit more upbeat. They think that while they are struggling to win game they are rarely on the wrong end of a drubbing. Leicester fans are wary of this game, but feel their side should sneak a win. Both teams have pointed out that Gary Monk is fighting for his job, which should give Leicester the upper hand.
– The consensus among both Spurs and West Brom fans is that the London side will prevail 1-2.
– Norwich fans like their chances against Watford. A win is within their grasp but a draw would be ok. Hornets fans also like their chances, thinking they can get at Norwich’s defence with Odion Ighalo and Troy Deeney in fine form in front of goal. This is probably the most unpredictable game of the weekend.
– Finally, the most pessimistic fans are those from Newcastle. Their guesses of the final scoreline are stabilising at around 0-4. They seem particularly worried about players like Christian Benteke and Philippe Coutinho and feel the Magpies’ current crop of players will simply not be able to match Liverpool’s flair and goal scoring prowess. Liverpool fans are looking forward to this game.
Conclusion
Nothing too unexpected from the fan’s perspective this week. The Watford-Norwich game won’t be plain sailing though. If I wanted a cleansheet I’d get a Man United defender, and Arsenal second choice.
Who would I captain? Probably a Liverpool player, but most of the big names across all teams have a chance to score. So it could be one of those gameweeks where our whole teams score points but we pick the wrong captain. Good luck!
